Wine color Monochrome Outfit + Tweed oversized Coat

In my previous post, I styled a monochromatic neutral look and for this post today, I decided to do another monochromatic styling with a punch of color this time. I paired my wine color cable knit sweater over a pair of wine color corduroy pants and the cable knit on the sweater adds texture to the outfit. For warmth, I threw on a tweed coat to break the monochromatic styling. A black pair of ankle boots and a black purse completed this simple, casual look. In warmer weather, the coat can be switched out for a light weight blazer. This look can be worn to most casual events and just about anywhere by switching out a piece or two. Again for warmer temps, I can switch out the sweater for a neck-tie blouse like this piece here.

Pink Trench Coat + Plaid Pants

I have had this pink trench coat for years now and since it is light weight, I wear it mostly in the spring and fall. However, it does come in handy in the winter time too whenever I need to add a pop of color to my grey and dark colored winter wardrobe. I wore the coat recently with very good layering underneath; a black cowl neck sweater and over sized, high waist plaid pants with pink and grey colors. The pants are really extra long on me and I'm thinking of doing some DIY on the hem. I might cut off an inch or two from the hem and convert it to a belt for the waist of the pants. I'll let you know how it goes. I really plan on doing a lot of DIYs on the blog this year. I believe it is time to start expressing more of my creative side than just consuming everything. Instead of buy, buy, buy...how about I say, make, make, make....hehehe! 😁 I purchased my trench coat which is somewhat like a mackintosh from a thrift/consignment store in my neighborhood called Arc's Value Village years ago. You have heard me talk about the thrift store a lot lately on the blog and this is because I intend to live life in a more eco friendly way going forward. I made a trip to the store recently and would do a post on the items I got in my next upcoming post.

How to style a purple turtle neck sweater for cold weather

"Purple" and "turtle neck" are two things you can hardly find in most ladies closets. Purple color can come in so many different shades of which lavender and lilac are the most common but in all, there are not many people willing to style the color for work or for play. I agree it is not the trending color of the season (Living Coral is the trending color) but it was the color of the year last spring and it is a color dear to my heart because it is my favorite color and it is so royal and regal. Most women stay away from styling purple color clothes though the color is great on any skin type but it might just be that most do not know how to style the color? The turtle neck top is another piece that a lot of ladies do not like for so many reasons but I think it is a very stylish and chic clothing piece that is very essential in a winter wardrobe especially if you live in a very cold city like I do. In this post, I have styled a lilac color sweater for work by pairing it with a grey color sweater and green color long coat. The outfit is very chic and comfy and can be worn to most events.

The turtle neck sweater that I styled in the collage above is actually a ribbed knit body suit and the beautiful thing about styling bodysuits is that they can tuck into any piece; skirts, pants or shorts really easily without any creases. The smooth finish created by the bodysuit makes the outfit to look elegant and classy. I admit it might be a little uncomfortable going to the ladies' room when you have on a body suit because of the hassle of undoing buttons or snaps at the hem of the suit but in the long run, the stress is totally worth it. You can check out the above bodysuit HERE.

Flashback to my Christmas Outfit and reliving the joy of the Season.

A little black dress is a wardrobe essential for every lady and it gets better when it is a lace dress. This is a flashback look to my Christmas outfit and it was an outfit I put together last minute. I purchased this fit and flare lace dress from J. Crew years ago and wore it for my birthday celebration and blogged about it here. I got it out of the closet last Christmas and restyled it by layering a white blazer over it. The black stockings was needed for some warmth and I thought the dress needed some definition in the waist so I cinched my waist with this embellished  Asos belt that has since sold out  and this option here is also cute if you want to check it out. I love the sparkle the belt gives to the black lace dress. My red beret and red plaid pumps were the seasonal accents to the look and to make the outfit more interesting, I added a metallic clutch. I shared a glimpse of the outfit on my instagram here on Christmas day and just decided to do a full blog post on the simple but special outfit today.

I really do not mind musing over this holiday outfit because it brings so much joy to my soul. I wish everyday was Christmas really. The Christmas holiday and season is the best ever and the fact that it is the celebration of Christ's birth is just so awesome. I pray that we continually re-live the season and to allow the love and grace of Christmas to fill us each day as we go about our daily business.

Let us share the joy of the season and never let our hearts forget that Jesus Christ was born in a human form on this earth thousands of years ago to earthly parents, Joseph and Mary. He performed lots of miracles and preached about God's love and promise of redemption and of eternal life before He died as was prophesied by the prophets of the old Testament in the Bible. He rose from the grave on the third day to redeem us of our sins and bring salvation to all men. Praise be to God! Thanks so much for stopping by here.

Spring Fashion Trend: Tie-Dye Style

Blazer // Shorts // Pumps // Bag

The calendar says winter and it is still freezing out there  but it's definitely not too early to talk about Spring fashion. One of the trends I'm really excited for in the coming season is the tie-dye style which is again, recycled fashion from the eighties. In my fashion mood board above, I have put together  a simple way that shows how this trend can be styled in a classy way. The green tie-dye shorts is the statement piece in the collage and when you pair it with other neutrals like the white blazer, grey color earrings and pumps, there is need to add a pop of color which is achieved by the mustard color bag. This outfit is young and fun and can pretty much go anywhere. If you want to check out other affordable tie-dye pieces, check out the shopping links below.

How I re-styled my sequin pencil Skirt

Happy Friday Friends; I hop you are all doing great. This is the second outfit I styled for the new year; a sequin pencil skirt previously worn here as a Christmas holiday outfit. I knew the temperature was going to dip in the week of the  new year holiday and I figured styling the sequin mesh skirt with a thick cowl neck sweater and a pair of ankle boots was going to do but nah, the weather was terribly cold and it was minus 2 degrees by New year eve night so I abandoned this outfit after taking pictures of it and wore a black leather pencil skirt, sweater and boots instead similar to what I wore here. My brown ankle boots paired with the sequins skirt was purchased recently after I wrote this post here and my Chloe Bag is a birthday gift.  My third outfit that I styled and planned for New year eve is what I would be wearing to Church on Sunday since the weather did not permit it to be worn  on New Year's Eve.

How to put together an affordable, glamorous Party Look

So, there is an age we get to when a simple party dress is just not enough or there are some parties we go to where we need something much more than a dress and a clutch and that is what I am talking about in this post. Right now, I'm thinking of a glamorous, big party which can be in most times a wedding or a birthday party but for the sake of this season, let's think end-of-year parties. I purchased this beaded sheath dress from T. J. Maxx a couple of years ago and have worn it to events accessorized with a clutch and a simple pair of shoes. I styled the dress previously with simple accessories because I wanted the beads and sequins at the front to be the statement detail. This season however, I decided to style the dress in a more glamorous way by accessorizing with statement pieces. My earrings ae statement pieces in a very bold yellow color, my satin pumps are embellished with rhinestone details and my statement faux fur stole and satin clutch add more drama to the look. They usually say "less is more" but I tell you, if you have a very big event to celebrate as a host or to attend as a guest, you can definitely do statement pieces and accessories.

What is in my new Bag? My Fall beauty Essentials and Basic Invite birthday invitation card and Stationery

Happy Friday Friends; I'm pretty excited because my birthday is just a few days away. While I'm not planning on having a super big celebration this year, I have been thinking of different ways to make my upcoming birthday remarkable. One thing I did a couple of months ago; actually in the summer was to take advantage of the summer sales by buying myself a few items that I know I would need in the fall. This plaid clear bag was one of my early birthday gifts to myself. I had seen a couple of plaid shopping totes from major designers online like this Burberry one here and here and I really wanted one for fall. If you have been reading this blog all through the summer, you would know by now that I really love clear bags also known as translucent or transparent bags or PVC bags. Check out this posts here and here and here. Also, If you know me from reading this blog, you know that I love affordable quality fashion so there was no way I was going to splurge on the Burberry tote and thankfully, it sold out before I even considered changing my mind. Then I saw this replica (or should I say dupe?) on the Shein Website for under $20 and I got it right way. The bag is really cute; it has removable long straps in addition to the short straps and the plaid clutch is removable too. I love it when you do not have to splurge to enjoy fashion and style and I really look forward to styling it with different outfits this fall. Now that the introduction about my new bag is out of the way, I would love to tell you about the contents in my bag. Along with some few beauty essentials for fall, I have cute party invitations and holiday invitations from Basic Invite.

Plaid Dress + Satin Slides

Happy Thursday Beauties; I hope the weather is beautiful wherever you are because it's been raining steady for over two days in my neck of the woods. The forecast says the rain would end tomorrow and behind the rain comes low temperatures. This weekend the temperature is going to dip to the 40s and that's cold even for this early in fall. This weekend is also the official start of fall so, I can say that fall is definitely here now. It's time to get out all the outer wears; sweaters, jackets, boots, scarves, gloves...you name it 😌 Although I'm excited for fall fashion, I'm not too excited about all the work I have to do in re-organizing my closet. If you do not see any new post on here in the next few days, just know that I am busy somewhere in my closet 😂

How to style an old dress from your Closet

Hi everyone, Happy Monday 😆 I hope your weekend was beautiful. If you live in the United States, I hope you had a great Father's day celebration; mine was beautiful. We had a Church dinner with lots and lots of yummy food. It's been raining a lot in the twin cities though and I am wondering when sunny beautiful summer weather is eventually going to get here. I am looking forward to re-styling lots and lots of pieces from my closet. This post is on how to re-style old pieces from our closets. I know most of the time fashion blogs are all about buying, buying, buying...I have slowed down a bit on shopping and focus now on re-styling pieces from my closet.

Summer chic bags and how to style them

The clear plastic bag or tote also known as the PVC  bag or the  Lucite bag has been trending since last winter. They are very edgy and chic and can go with any outfit dressed up or dressed down. The handbags have more of a stylish perception than functionality. 'Come to think of it, we own bags so we can store our intimate items and basic necessities like keys, make-up, toiletries and personal knic-knacks in them. When a bag loses this basic function, it stimulates our thinking which is the whole essence of this trend. It is just edgy and chic and no one dare question why you have to have another bag within a bag! haha!! 😶

If you are able to afford this bag, you should be able to afford a beautiful little clutch or wallet to store your things in that you can then put in the bag 😅 Just sincerely here, (Moi...*eyes rolling*) is just reporting on the latest summer bag trends by the way and please, do not mind my sarcasm. I love the bags a lot and I hope the trend would stick around for a while. I have put some outfits together below to show how I would style these bags if I had one in a different

Orange color velvet blazer + black trouser Jeans

So, the holidays; Christmas and New Year are getting close than ever and it has been snowing hard in Minnesota. It's been very cold too and I must admit that the weather has sapped off any fashion sense in me. All I have been wearing the last few days is black, black, black 😆 ....*boring* I did manage to add some color to my all-black outfit I wore the other day by putting on my orange color velvet blazer; an old piece from my closet. I wore a graphic tee underneath with the inscription; "Beauty for Ashes" and if you don't know, that is a quote from the Bible talking about the awesomeness of God in the book of Isaiah 61 verse 3. These tees are designed by an amazing young entrepreneur and beautiful lady; owner of Wear your Praise

Merry Christmas and happy holiday everyone. If you still have some last minute shopping to do or you are still contemplating what to give the special lady in your life; your Friend, Mother, daughter, you might find this post useful. Personally, I love to give out gift cards to friends and other loved ones who are not within my immediate family circle just because it makes things a little easier for me. And if I really, really, have to give gifts, my best places to shop for cute and affordable holiday gifts are; Victorias Secret, bath and body works, pottery barn, home goods and Jcrew.
The selections below are still available at the stores and do not forget that it is the thought that counts not the gift and remember always that Jesus is the reason for the season. Merry Christmas.

How to style an "All-black" Outfit

So, when is the best time to wear an "all-black' outfit if not now; in the winter? The snow might not have come down yet but the cold has crept in and the layered outfits have started to come out of the closet. My faux-fur leather skirt is from Loft, my  turtle neck sweater is so old that I do not even remember what store I got it from, over the knee boots are an old purchase from the Altuzarra and Target collaboration from three years ago. My bracelet is thrifted and my faux-fur vest is an old purchase from Forever 21. Phew! 😅 Can you remember all the items I just listed? Yes! that is the key or tip to styling an all black look; you just throw all the textures together; leather,

Shoe Lovin' - Fall themed Pump

I "looveee" pumps! Pumps are just the best thing ever to happen to women in my opinion when it comes to Fashion. I do love sandals, mules and slides too but my love for pumps is deep! 😇 This is why I put up this post "Shoe Loving" every once in a while to showcase any new affordable pump or style that caught my eye in the season. I try to modify this post every now and then to include sandals and mules and I would continue to include more styles in the future.

Having said that, I saw this beautiful pair  of pumps recently on line and I just fell in love with the contrasting colors that pays a huge homage to the Fall season. It definitely looks like a dupe of thhigher end Gianvito Rossi Pumps here and though I haven't

Blue off-the-shoulder-top + denim

Hello Friends; another quick post here on how I styled my yellow fringe sandals. Blue and yellow complement each other nicely and when you add white to the mix, it is even better. I loved this cobalt blue top when I saw it online because of the color and style and since it was very affordable, I ordered it. It took forever to get to me all the way from China and at a time I gave up on the order vowing not to ever make any purchase from any overseas store based in China. The top eventually got to me in good condition and
