Grey knit dress + white boots for Spring

Grey dresses do not get enough love as they should for whatever reason. I love grey dresses or outfits though and I do not know why but I think it might be because of the long cold winter in my city. There is no way I can go through the whole of winter without wearing the color grey; it may be a grey pantsuit, a sweater dress or linen dress or just sweater and pants. This post is on the recent addition to my grey wardrobe; this gray, chambray, fit and flare dress that I wore to Church a while back. The weather was really cold, so I had to wear some tights and I decided to wear black tights underneath for a deep contrast in color.

This knit dress was purchased from JCPenney and it's similar to another knit dress I wore here in my previous post. I love the style of it, the waist ties to cinch the waist and the soft comfy fabric. I paired the dress with white accessories, keeping everything simple. Another way to style this dress would be the way I did in this previous post here with a similar knit dress.  Of course, snake print boots would be another styling option especially in the fall. Thanks so much for reading.

Monochrome Style: Brown and Nude Knits

One of my goals this year when it comes to fashion is to wear more colors. I realized that monochrome styling is what comes to me naturally whenever I'm putting outfits together and I want to get out of my comfort zone from now onwards. Also, I want to find more joy in blogging again. For the past two years, I have been using this blog as a sort of fashion Journal or Diary only to document my outfits.

I set the blog on private because I just could not get myself to deactivate or delete the blog. (Probably, I just like writing for myself) Now, I am thinking I need to set it back to public viewing at least for my upcoming ten years blogging Anniversary. I'll think seriously of what to do with the blog afterwards.

Style / Trend Inspiration: Faux Fur Bag

My latest trend inspiration for this winter is the faux fur bag or shearling bag which has been popping up in the stores in different styles and price points. Although faux fur bags have been around for a long time, this recent trend might have been spurred on by the Bottega Veneta shearling bag. I love this affordable mini bag by Steve Madden because it is so chic and stylish and did I say affordable? Yes, I said affordable...

African print Dress + Green Sandals

African print outfits are finding their way into big retail stores faster than ever before and one of the big designers that I am loving currently is The Oula Company. They have their collection presently at Nordstrom and other big retailers. The collection is beautiful, stylish and colorful and I really like this convertible mini dress  which is similar to what I am wearing in this post. My dress which is from a different designer, was gifted to me by my friend's Mom who traveled to Ghana. The dress can be worn over the shoulders as well.

Winter Wish List

Дt this time, my fashion wish lists and shopping guides are just mainly for entertainment and not meant to be considered seriously unless you really, really want to indulge because to be honest; who needs another pair of shoes or another bag or another jacket even if it is a leather jacket? We all know by now that our health and friendships and relationships is (are) what we should be investing in especially at this unprecedented time in our history. So, a big disclaimer here; this list is not meant to inspire you to do more shopping but rather to entertain you as you curl up on your couch with a hot cup of cocoa enjoying time with your family or friends. Yes, you can read and browse the posts on the blog as you relax 😃

How I styled my tiered Dress

Ᏸaby doll dresses "was" a big trend this summer and I think it's partly due to their versatility. The dresses are casual enough to wear as lounge wear and they can also be dressed up with the use of accessories like belts and blazers. I purchased this orange color dress from H&M over the summer and this is how I styled it. The multi color strap sandals are from DSW while my floral bag is from Etsy. The bag is made from African fabric called "Ankara" or "Kente" and it adds a certain flair or vibe to an outfit. You can  get them in different styles and colors on the Etsy Website and remember that when you buy from small businesses on Etsy, you support someone's dream and provide income for families and households directly as opposed to supporting big corporations. If you insist on buying from big corporations, make sure it supports great causes and equal justice organizations like "Black lives Matter." Thanks so much for reading.

Fall Wish List

ᗪeep brown color is the color of Fall season this year and it is trending in beautiful hues and textures; think brown leather jackets, pleated skirts and square and pointed toe boots. Styling this color for fall would be really easy too. Browns can be styled in monochrome by mixing different hues and shades of brown and if you like you can add a subtle pop of color like cream, burgundy and orange. Browns can also be styled by pairing it with beiges and tans. My wish list for fall has combination of beige and brown pieces and my favorite item on the list is actually this off white pleated leather skirt; so classy and chic. Click on the links below to check out more about the pieces.

My Wish List for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

                       One / Two / Three / Four / Five / Six / Seven / Eight / Nine / Ten

Ꮛarlier, I shared a post on what I would love to shop from the Nordstrom anniversary sale and while I have not yet made any purchase, I would love to share these updated lists or guide(s) that I put together after perusing the site. In my previous guide, I shared some items for home décor but this guide is just for fashion pieces. Lug soled boots and square toed boots are going to be big trends this fall and so is the leather blazer. While you peruse the sale, do not forget to order your face mask; happy viewing, happy shopping.

I think the sale is currently open to Nordstrom or Nordy Club members who get exclusive early access before the general public. These items on my shopping guide are what I'm interested in buying at the moment and I decided to share on here as I always do 😊 Disclaimer: Please, I am not trying to turn you into a shopaholic; this blog is solely for entertainment and if you are a regular reader here, you must know that by now.

Adding some color to my style: Teal + Grey and daily Meditation/Affirmation

pring is here at last and it's time to roll out the colors. And speaking of which; I'm going to roll out the colors this year! In this post, I'm wearing a casual look where I paired a grey cowl neck ribbed sweater with charcoal grey denim. I finished off the look with a teal color coat, black pair of ankle boots and my old Ann Taylor bucket bag. I wore this outfit and similar variations of it a lot this winter; a sweater, denim and boots to attend my son's basket's ball games. The coat is an old purchase from Macys. I love the color and puffy sleeve detail which is so in trend right now. The addition of color to an outfit definitely uplifts the mood especially now that the weather is starting to warm up and we have the cloudy days behind us. Beautiful sunny weather calls for beautiful bright colors.

Long Brown Coat + Brown Accessories and How to stay happy while social distancing

Ħappy Monday Friends. It's another week, another Monday and where do I even begin? The world is at a different place and history is happening right in front of our eyes; very bad history. The Coronavirus Pandemic is like a Hollywood horror movie happening right before our eyes. There would have been so much excitement about spring right now and everyone trying to enjoy the outdoors because we all have been hibernating in the winter time but we cannot do that; we cannot run around outdoors enjoying the warmer weather. Everyone has to do some social distancing at this time to stop the spread of  this virus and flatten the curve and with this, I say happy Monday again.

All black Outfit + Combat boots and reminding us of God's special Love

n all black outfit is the easiest to put together; just pull textures in different fabrics like leather, lace or knits like I did here in a previous post or put on an all black outfit and accessorize with fun accessories like I did here in this post. You won't believe it guys, I wore this outfit to Church on a Sunday! 😀 I was surprised myself too!! If you know me, I like to dress up real girlie for Church with stiletto pumps and all that on Sundays but I don't mind a casual look for the Wednesday, mid-week services. So, on this particular Sunday, I wanted to wear a different look; the snow was starting to melt and everywhere outdoors was all wet and slushy so I decided to wear my new pair of combat boots blogged about here.

Shopping my Closet for Winter Staples: Sweater Dress + Riding Boots

hen you live in a cold and snowy state like I do, you'll agree with me that the long dreary winter can get to you sometimes; like, hey! I'm tired of wearing pants and coats! In Minnesota here, we are still in the deep of winter with lots of snow and when I get tired of wearing my big coats, I reach for a thick sweater dress and knee high boots like I did here. I have had this dark charcoal sweater dress for years and it comes into heavy rotation in the winter time. The Colin Stuart knee boots are old too; purchased  over eight years ago from the Victoria's Secret Catalog. The elastic belt is from J Crew and the bag is a thrifted piece from a thrift and consignment store in my neighborhood. I like how the bag mimics the current pouch trend and since my bag costs less than $20, it's a win, win. If you like to wear sweater dresses in the winter too, check out the shopping links below for different selections and thanks so much for stopping by...😀

Holiday Shoes: Sequin + Glitter

եhe holiday season comes with different events and celebrations; Christmas dinners, holiday parties, end of year dinners and it can be overwhelming sometimes when we are not prepared for all the events as they line up. I'll love to share my own tip of getting ready for any holiday event without stress and it has a lot to do with shoes. Usually, I style all my outfit from down up and when I say down up, I mean; I style my outfits around my shoes. So, my shoes always come first when I am putting a look together.

Grey Vintage Dress + White Mules

o the weather has been very nice in Minnesota lately but this is not going to be for long because we are expecting a snow storm Thanksgiving week according to the Weather Report. I'm really looking forward to the Thanksgiving break; snow or no snow. The Thanksgiving Holiday is the official kick off to the holiday season but I also never lose sight of the fact that everyday should be Thanksgiving. A grateful heart opens the way for more blessings.

Styling a knit dress all through summer

Hi everyone, I hope we are all doing great. It's been raining a lot here in Minnesota and the amount of rain we have had so far is quite unusual for spring time. There has also been unusual rain and flooding in the south and I pray God to comfort all the victims at this difficult time and I thank God for preserving the lives of many that were in the path of the storm; it could have been worse. I know there has been substantial loss of property but all those can be replaced. It's our precious lives that matter most. Please, let's remember everyone in our prayers.

What to wear on Memorial Day

Memorial Day is around the corner and if you live in the United States, you know that this is a holiday and the unofficial start of summer. If you have a barbeque planned for the day or some outdoor activity with family and friends, you probably are thinking of putting on something casual. My style recommendation would be to put on a jumpsuit for the day. I love the utility/khaki style of the jumpsuit featured on the mood board above and utility style is right on trend too. I paired the jumpsuit with a pair of yellow statement heel slides and sparkly pair of earrings and neon color sunglasses. Since the Memorial Day holiday is the unofficial start of summer, it is time to get out the straw and woven bags; they are just the right accessory for any summer outfit. Happy viewing, happy styling.

Brown and black Polka dots style

The polka dots trend is still going on strong and while I love the trend and do not mind it, I still think that the black and white polka dots which is the classic print is now a bit too trendy. I love other colors of the trend like the white background with the black dots. The color combination I really love most is this tan background and black dots. The color combination is not so common and if you know me, you'll know that I love a different twist on a trend. J. Crew   really got it right when they launched this polka dot chino pants two summers ago, no wonder they sold out so fast. Other styles of this polka dots combination that I have seen online are super expensive like this pant here. The pants are beautiful but on the steep side. If I didn't get this pair from J. Crew before it sold out, I probably would have headed to the fabric store to find the print. Yes, if  you cannot afford it or cannot find it, try and make it. That is the new rule for the new year. Go, and just create! Check out my previous styling of this pants  here and thanks so much for reading.

Shoe Lovin'

I have been loving embellished shoes al lot lately to the extent that I even did some DIY on a couple of my pumps like the one I wore in this post here. So, when I saw this black embellished pumps on the Nordstrom website, it was pretty much love at first sight. I love the combination of faux silver and cymbals embellishment and this would look great paired with denim and a white tee or paired with an all black outfit. If you want to check out the pumps, they come in two other colors; blush suede and lilac suede here.
