Plaid Pants + Pouch Vintage Bag

            ᔑo Thanksgiving is done and now unto the next big holiday, Christmas which is my favorite holiday of the year. I am planning on putting all my holiday looks together this weekend; it's last minute I know. I did not do any shopping on Black Friday; got most of my shopping done already so all I did on Black Friday was just lounge in the house. I slipped out of my lounge clothes  later in the day to throw on this casual outfit and again the weather was bearable so I had to wear my beloved mules, haha! 😂

How to style a Sweat Shirt for Work.

I do not wear sweatshirts often but this piece I am wearing here is my favorite and it comes into heavy rotation in the cold season. Another sweatshirt that I own and have styled on the blog is this cropped graphic sweatshirt here. We all know that sweatshirts are very casual and are really meant for lounging (if it is really oversized) and occasional trips to the grocery store unless you are a high school or college student. I am showing in this post how I styled a sweatshirt for work; and not so formal work, that is. If you work in a very corporate space, sweat shirts are a complete no-no. However, these days, a lot of jobs are more relaxed when it comes to work attire and work wear has become less formal day by day. For this look, I paired my cream color sweat shirt with a very long plaid pants and topped the look with a wine color coat since the weather is still chilly. It is a very simple look that can be worn to work and the key is to keep the whole look simple and classy. My tips for styling this look include;

Keep it neutral and fitted:

If you choose to style a sweatshirt for an outing where you would like to look well put together, ensure that the sweatshirt is of a neutral color like creams, browns, black and very light greys. Stay away from very loud colors and definitely stay away from whites. A white sweatshirt screams too casual for me. Another tip is to ensure that the sweatshirt is a little fitted. It can be a little boxy too depending on the kind of pants you want to wear with it.

Styling Neon for Spring: Lime color Coat + Plaid Pants

Happy First day of spring everyone 😁 To celebrate the new season, I wore my light weight lime color coat that I have had in the closet for years, paired with a black color long sleeve tee and plaid pants previously styled here on the blog.  Plaid print pieces are not just for fall season anymore; you can pretty much wear them the whole year depending on the fabric and the style of the plaid piece. For this look, I tried to keep everything simple knowing that the lime color coat would be the statement piece in the outfit because of the color. Lime color and neon colors are very big trends this season and you are going to see them every where; tops, bottoms, accessories...

Pink Trench Coat + Plaid Pants

I have had this pink trench coat for years now and since it is light weight, I wear it mostly in the spring and fall. However, it does come in handy in the winter time too whenever I need to add a pop of color to my grey and dark colored winter wardrobe. I wore the coat recently with very good layering underneath; a black cowl neck sweater and over sized, high waist plaid pants with pink and grey colors. The pants are really extra long on me and I'm thinking of doing some DIY on the hem. I might cut off an inch or two from the hem and convert it to a belt for the waist of the pants. I'll let you know how it goes. I really plan on doing a lot of DIYs on the blog this year. I believe it is time to start expressing more of my creative side than just consuming everything. Instead of buy, buy, buy...how about I say, make, make, make....hehehe! 😁 I purchased my trench coat which is somewhat like a mackintosh from a thrift/consignment store in my neighborhood called Arc's Value Village years ago. You have heard me talk about the thrift store a lot lately on the blog and this is because I intend to live life in a more eco friendly way going forward. I made a trip to the store recently and would do a post on the items I got in my next upcoming post.

Gingham Pant + Pink Mules

This is a look I wore some time last Summer. I scored this bold gingham prints cropped pants off of New York & Company and the sleeveless top is an old purchase I think I got from Loft. The bib necklace is from DSW and if you don't know, they sell clothing accessories too; scarfs, jewelry, bags...the bracelet is a thrifted piece; very cool bracelet; you just wind and twist it around your wrist any how you like it. It can go around my neck too and I use it sometimes as a choker. The pink mules are from Amazon. Thank you so much for stopping by here.

Red oversized sweater and Plaid Pants

I have a couple of plaid prints pieces in my closet that are a different twist to the current bold plaid prints that is trending right now. It is "tiny-teenie" plaid prints that you have to quint to see. I believe if I had a better camera, you would be able to see what I mean through the pictures. This is a subtle way of doing a trend if you do not want to be that obvious. For example, if you work in a conservative or very formal work place and you want to wear trending fashion to work, this is the best way to do it. Go for a simple nod to the trendy as opposed to being very obvert. The best color to pair with this color of plaid prints is red. They just go together nicely. For this look, I wore

Plaid Paper bag Pants + a Sweater

Happy Monday Friends 😙 So, this is just a quick work wear post of one of my favorite colors to wear in the Fall; grey. This time, I decided to style the color in two of the season's trends; plaid prints and paper-bag pants. I always like it when I can fit two trends seamlessly into an outfit effortlessly. When done right, it gives a very clean and polished look. If you get the styling wrong, there is that perception that you are trying too hard or as some would call it, you are a "trend...wh--e" or "label...wh--e;" without spelling out the whole word. The trick to achieving this look (two-trends-in-one) starts right from when you do your shopping. Always look out for that piece that can serve multiple functions or that accessory that can be styled in different ways. When you get that one piece

Plaid Pant + Short furry Vest for Work Monday

Happy Monday Friends; our weather has warmed up a bit and would be bearable for the next two days before we get into the deep freeze again by Wednesday. Any rise in temperature calls for a little change in my winter wardrobe. For work wear Monday today, I'm putting on plaid pants and like I mentioned in a previous post HERE, "plaid prints" if styled right, is great for work.

The obvious color to complement this pants was cream or of-white although a deep solid color like cobalt blue, beige or red would have worked too. My cream color Vera Wang tote and suede block heels, blogged about HERE completed the look. Oh, did I forget to mention the short furry vest? Such a fun  addition to the outfit in my opinion. I purchased the vest from Nordstrom a couple of years ago and actually contemplated taking off the hood but left it on at the last minute. What are your thoughts on plaid pants; yay! or nay?

I'm starting the week off so excited for the new year and all the amazing things in store for me because I know my God got me. I had an awesome time in church yesterday too and believe me when I say; going to God's house on Sunday is a great way to start off the new week. I wish you all a good one wherever you are....*Kisses*
