Summer Essentials: Wish List

        We are gradually getting to the end of the summer and the summer heat has been intense this year. I have been enjoying the summer by rotating summer fashion essentials from my closet; shorts, cotton tops and lots of button up shirts. Every season, I do a wardrobe/closet edit and fill any void I might have by sourcing affordable pieces. My wish list serves as a shopping guide for me each season.

White ruffle hem dress + twist knot Sandals

           White color outfits or bright color dresses are the best when it comes to beating the summer heat along with natural fabrics. The heat in Minnesota has been on a high intensity and all my white color outfits are now at the front of my closet. I wore this flared ruffle hem dress recently and styled it with just neutral accessories; one of my favorite way of styling whites. Shoe Lovin': Chloe Sandals

     This Chloe Sandals is one of the most  unique and chic summer sandals I have seen in a while. I love the originality of the design with the bold graphics and brown sole. It looks very chic when paired with casual style and it's indeed a "take me to vacation" slides/sandals. I do have a love-hate affair with the sandals though because the design also reminds me of a cast on an ankle or foot; haha! 😂 

How to style Vests for casual event

     

      Vests trending and I am willing to try out the trend. It does not hurt to add a couple of masculine pieces to a feminine wardrobe. However, this is a trend that is not going to be around for too long in my opinion so let's not get too crazy about it okay? 😁 I am offering some casual styling ideas in this post and you can make changes to the ensemble as you please. For example, I would switch out the pants for a pair of shorts. Happy viewing, happy styling.

Summer Wish List Guide: TWO

    This here, is another wish list for the summer different from the one previously posted here. This second wish list is more like an outfit inspiration for a Getaway or for a vacation. Everything on this list is pretty affordable too. I have always admired the Saint Laurent River Gauche tote but the price is just too steep and since it is such a trendy bag, I didn't think it is worth the investment. In a few years, it would be out of the scene and we would be on to something else. 

Woven Bucket Bags

The "Bucket Bag" is still such a huge trend and this unique bag is more trendy now because of another trend; woven, wooden or straw bags. These trendy, organic and natural material (straw, wicker, bamboo, wood) bags are great for the environment and they come in different styles that can go with almost any outfit; gone are the days when straw bags were reserved for only the beach and picnics. Neon Styling for Summer

If you love the neon trend but need some inspiration on how to put looks together this summer, stay tuned on here because you'll get styling tips for every occasion or event you want to dress up for. This style/mood board is for a casual style; a look you'll want to wear to a backyard or garden party, a summer wedding; indoor or outdoor or even to any party or blogger's event. For this look, I started with a neon blouse and you can use the set above for inspiration and use any neon blouse or top that you like. Styling a knit dress all through summer

Hi everyone, I hope we are all doing great. It's been raining a lot here in Minnesota and the amount of rain we have had so far is quite unusual for spring time. There has also been unusual rain and flooding in the south and I pray God to comfort all the victims at this difficult time and I thank God for preserving the lives of many that were in the path of the storm; it could have been worse. I know there has been substantial loss of property but all those can be replaced. It's our precious lives that matter most. Please, let's remember everyone in our prayers.

Polka dots blouse + High waist pants

Are we tired of the polka dots trend yet? I don't think so. This trend is going right through fall and even if goes away, it will show up again as it has done in previous years. This is the reason why I have so many polka dots pieces in my closet. I wore this blouse to church weeks ago and it is similar to the one I wore here, just a different color. For this look, I paired it with a black color high waist paints which is.....*shhhh* actually a maternity pant. Yup! It is one of my maternity pants I got from Target years ago that I converted to a high waist pants and I didn't even have to do any alterations to it. I completed the look with a black blazer and white pair of sandals; as simple as can be. Don't you love it when you are able to wear old pieces from your closet? Shopping for Clear Bags

Now that summer is gradually coming to an end, it is time to do some closet editing. How about we start by switching out summer accessories before piling on Fall layers. I know clear bags or PVC bags or transparent bags as they are called have been around all summer but it is not going anywhere anytime soon. It is a style of bag that is going to trend right through the Fall and Winter season. How appropriate too; after all, it would be the most functional bag to have on snowy, wet days. In an earlier post here, I talked about doing another post to share shopping information about any affordable clear bags I could find. I finally found very good quality clear bags on the Shein Website. Just compare spending $195 on this STAUD PVC clear bag to spending $13 on this Shein clear bag. It is obvious that one is a designer luxury piece and the other is not but hey! trends come and go and there is no need splurging on a piece that might go out of style after a season. I checked out the selections available on Shein and ordered a few because they are so, so affordable and I can really tell you that the quality of the bags are great for the price; (that is, the price matches the quality) because I got my orders already. This is the first time I shopped at this site and I intend to go back to buy one or two clothing pieces in order to check out the sizing and quality. Polka dots Style: Red + White Eshakti Dress

Happy Thursday Everyone. I hope everyone is having a great summer. I don't know how long the polka dots trend would be here for; from the look of it, the trend is here to stay. I'm sharing this look I wore Sundays ago to Church featuring this red and white polka dot dress from Eshakti. I got the dress two or three summers ago and have worn it several times since and just when I thought it was time to give it a break, the polka dots trend started again this summer and I am here for it...😀 I have always loved the prints and have lot's of polka dots pieces in my closet so this trend is just one more reason to continue to shop my closet.  

What to do with old trendy pieces in your Closet

Hi Friends, happy Thursday 😀 I'm sharing an old look from my blog folder for this post on a throwback Thursday. (These pics were in my folder for about a year and were not blogged before now mostly because of the quality but I I tried to edit the pictures with the Snapseed App a bit and decided to blog them anyway). This pineapple prints skirt from Ann Taylor  is an old piece from my closet and I have styled it several times on the blog before in this post here and here.  It was so popular two summers ago because of the beautiful unusual pineapple print and there were about three pieces in the collection as it is usual with some of these trendy summer prints; there were dresses, skirts and shorts. For this look, I paired the skirt with a chambray shirt and block heel sandals and a "big-hair-don't-care" attitude 😁 I have worn this outfit a couple of times (since) after the day these pics were taken, mostly to church. And this brings me to the main idea behind this post; what do you do with very old trendy pieces in your closet?

The Maxi dress is such a huge trend this summer and I know styling it for casual event is easy-breezy. If you want to glamorize a simple maxi dress, here is some inspiration for you. Pair the dress with a pair of statement earrings like the drop or chandelier earrings and a statement bag and a pair of cute mules and you are good to go.

Polka dots prints are trending this summer just like the gingham prints trend we had last year. White button down shirt + Denim

Happy Friday everyone. Friday is for casual style and for me, casuals in the most basic sense means denim. Today, I styled my denim pants with an oversized white button down shirt and white pumps which is a pairing you are going to see a lot this summer. You can wear this look to visit friends, to go shopping and even to hang out with hubby or friends. White is a color I used to shy away from previously most especially because I'm always around my kids and from experience, whites and kids don't go together nicely 😑 However, this summer, I'm embracing the white color trend because of the clean fresh look and how classy it looks plus my kids are grown now and they know Mom needs to still look glam while taking care of them 😆 The white sunnies added some whimsy to the look and the cuff bracelet which I purchased from Forever 21 several years ago added a little bit of color to the look too.  Are you up for styling whites with denim this summer? Summer chic bags and how to style them

The clear plastic bag or tote also known as the PVC  bag or the  Lucite bag has been trending since last winter. They are very edgy and chic and can go with any outfit dressed up or dressed down. The handbags have more of a stylish perception than functionality. 'Come to think of it, we own bags so we can store our intimate items and basic necessities like keys, make-up, toiletries and personal knic-knacks in them. When a bag loses this basic function, it stimulates our thinking which is the whole essence of this trend. It is just edgy and chic and no one dare question why you have to have another bag within a bag! haha!! 😶



If you are able to afford this bag, you should be able to afford a beautiful little clutch or wallet to store your things in that you can then put in the bag 😅 Just sincerely here, (Moi...*eyes rolling*) is just reporting on the latest summer bag trends by the way and please, do not mind my sarcasm. I love the bags a lot and I hope the trend would stick around for a while. I have put some outfits together below to show how I would style these bags if I had one in a different

Summer trend: Straw bag

So, you must have started seeing them everywhere; the summer "it-bags" aka straw bags. There is the very popular ark bag from Cult Gaia which looks picture perfect on blogs and on Instagram. I do not own this bag yet but I did create some sets on how I would style the ark  bag if I had one in addition to the regular straw bag which before now was just reserved exclusively for the beach.


 I would style the ark bag with a pair of fancy sunglasses and a romper and a pair of mules to go on a picnic or summer cook-out or barbecue. I would also style it with an-off-the shoulder dress which come to think of it, it's just like "peanut butter
