Holiday Style: Green Circle Skirt + Plaid

Hi Friends; happy last day of the year or happy New Year’s Eve. We all know that the Christmas holiday is over so I'm sure you are surprised seeing me in a Christmas-color outfit on new year's eve as opposed to sequins and glitter. Do not worry I have my new year's eve outfit picked already for our New Year's eve service in Church later tonight. This outfit is what I wore to church yesterday; the last Sunday of the year. I decided to go in these colors to remind myself that Christmas celebration really should be everyday. The reason for the celebration of the holiday is to remind us of the birth of our savior Jesus Christ who came to earth in human form, born of holy conception and died on the cross and resurrected three days later to give us the gift of salvation. It's just an awesome feeling to be reminded of this truth everyday of the year and I hope you believe and have faith in redemption too.

Two accessories I need to style a New Year's Eve Outfit

Yes, the year is finally coming to an end and I'm so thankful to God for his protection over me and my family and friends and also thankful for you for your continued support on here. Thanks so much for reading and I pray to God to bless you richly in the new year and onwards. I have been styling most of my holiday looks this season around accessories; check out these Posts here and here and here and last year's posts here and here.  I did the same styling with this look using old accessories and pieces from my closet. I am wearing a black color short sleeve turtle neck or high neck top from Boohoo that I have been talking about in my blog posts for the last couple of weeks. At $6.40 a piece, the top is very beautiful, of great quality and versatile for styling other closet essentials. Get them in different colors before they sell out. You definitely need them this winter and in the spring.

How to put together an affordable, glamorous Party Look

So, there is an age we get to when a simple party dress is just not enough or there are some parties we go to where we need something much more than a dress and a clutch and that is what I am talking about in this post. Right now, I'm thinking of a glamorous, big party which can be in most times a wedding or a birthday party but for the sake of this season, let's think end-of-year parties. I purchased this beaded sheath dress from T. J. Maxx a couple of years ago and have worn it to events accessorized with a clutch and a simple pair of shoes. I styled the dress previously with simple accessories because I wanted the beads and sequins at the front to be the statement detail. This season however, I decided to style the dress in a more glamorous way by accessorizing with statement pieces. My earrings ae statement pieces in a very bold yellow color, my satin pumps are embellished with rhinestone details and my statement faux fur stole and satin clutch add more drama to the look. They usually say "less is more" but I tell you, if you have a very big event to celebrate as a host or to attend as a guest, you can definitely do statement pieces and accessories.

Let it Snow: The Reason for the Season

A very Merry Christmas to you and thanks for stopping by here on Christmas eve 😀 Christmas in the air. This is my favorite holiday of the year and I am sure it is yours too. I scheduled this post on the blog ahead of time just in case any one drops by. I have been busy behind the scenes the past few days shopping for gifts for family members and friends and planning holiday activities. My little baby boy  turns five tomorrow and I am so excited. He is the best Christmas gift ever. I was born on October 31st and growing up, I always felt uneasy sharing my birthday information because I felt it was weird because of the Halloween holiday. And of course, I used to get compliments and winks whenever I shared the info. but I do not celebrate Halloween.  And whenever I planned activities or a party for my birthday, it used to feel awkward especially when I celebrated my party the actual day as opposed to celebrating a few days later.

When God blessed me with a Christmas baby, I was ecstatic because of all the  joy and happiness associated with the Christmas holiday. There is no mixed feelings, no tricks, no ghosts or ill will associated with Christmas. The holiday is all about Love and giving and sharing and most of all, it is all about Christ; Jesus Christ, the reason for the season. God sent his holy son to man in the flesh to redeem us from our sins by dying on the cross and resurrecting on the third day to heaven in order that we might all gain the gift of salvation and eternity when we believe in him and in God the Father who sent him and who created us all. 🙏 Do you believe in Christ Jesus? If you do, you are blessed. And if you don't, stay on here a while for future posts, let's chat and talk about this precious gift of salvation.

The shoes you need to style your holiday Outfit

Still trying to get the right accessories to make your holiday outfit pop? Look no further because glitter pumps or sandals is what you need to elevate any outfit and add that sparkle to your holiday look. Above is a selection of affordable glitter heels that you can pair with almost any outfit. There is so much spending this holiday season but caution needs to be exercised as we decide on what we want versus what we need. You might want that very sparkly sequin or gold dress to wear to a holiday party whether it is Christmas or New year eve party but if the dress is way too expensive and would  cut deep into your budget, you might want to opt for a pair of glitter heels instead that cost way less. Just look for an inexpensive LBD (little black dress) and dress it up with a pair of beautiful glitter heels and some sparkly earring and a simple clutch and you are good to go. You'll save money and still look stylish at the same time. Happy viewing and happy styling.

Holiday Lookbook: Blazer + Faux fur Stole

Happy Thursday Friends 😃 I'm here today with another holiday look; a casual outfit featuring holiday accessories. Most of the time, we ladies, spend too much money buying new outfits for the holiday season when we have a closet full of clothes and I must say I am guilty of this too. I always feel like I need something new and do not want to wear my last holiday season outfits again this year. This time, I decided to reduce the stress of shopping for new outfits (although I have my eyes on this beautiful skirt here)  to put new holiday outfits together from pieces and accessories that I already own in my closet and that is how this look came about. This outfit is a look you can wear to casual holiday parties; you know the one that is not so formal; maybe a Christmas party hosted by your friends or an after work Christmas dinner with your co-workers. The foundation for this outfit; a blazer, a pair of blue denim and a white top are clothes or pieces that we already own in our closet. I used holiday or special occasion accessories; the sparkly belt, silver metallic heels, a faux fur stole and sequin metallic clutch to add a holiday touch to the outfit. The statement earrings were purchased on sale at Target over the summer and the statement belt was purchased from Asos and blogged about here. What other casual holiday event do you think this outfit is appropriate for? I think if you switch out the denim for regular dress pants, this outfit would definitely go to several events and even to a very special place, the Church. Thank you so much for stopping by.

Holiday Lookbook: Sequin Skirt + Floral Pumps

A sequin skirt is an essential holiday piece because you can create several outfits with it. This pencil sequin mesh skirt from Chico's has since sold out but there are other designs available like this piece here and this beautiful metallic piece here. When it comes to styling sequin pieces, the styling options are quite versatile. For this look, I paired my skirt with a short sleeve turtle neck top from Boohoo and floral pumps with jewel embellishments; a pair I purchased years ago. A pair of disc earrings  and a bracelet and velvet envelope clutch similar here completed the look. This look is a mix of textures; sequins, velvet and floral which embodies the Christmas spirit; the coming together of families and friends to celebrate birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus is the reason for the season everyone. This look can be worn to any informal event like a Christmas party, dinner date or any other holiday gatherings. For a more formal look, throw on a blazer and you are good to go.

How I styled my Christmas Sweater

Hi Friends, I hope the week is going great so far. I had a bit of technical glitch on the blog that I just found out a few hours ago. I wrote and scheduled my Monday post last week hoping that it went live on Monday morning but was surprised when I logged in today and found out that the post did not publish and I had to publish it manually today. So, if you stopped by my blog yesterday and did not see any post for Monday, I apologize. I did some investigation and I found out that it was my own error; I scheduled the post without hitting the "publish button" so it remained as a draft instead of "auto-publish." If you've noticed, I have published a post every day for the past months and I also have posts scheduled every day for the rest of the year. I do not have any sponsored posts or campaigns on my blog presently; all my outfits are from my own closet so, I can publish my posts any time even if I have to do it retrospectively. Sponsored posts usually go with schedules and deadlines which can be just as hectic as having a regular job sometimes. My blog is my personal style diary and I do everything at my own pace which I totally love and enjoy. Thank you so much for your readership and support on here. I don't know if I can still do daily blog posts next year but we'll see how it goes...

Work wear Monday: What to wear to Work in the Holiday Season

Grey and black are my favorite colors to wear in the cold weather season and also my favorite color combination for work wear. For this look, I wore a regular work wear; a grey pant suit with black color turtle neck top. I purchased the pant suit a couple of summers ago from The Limited and my top is a recent purchase from Boohoo. The top went on sale recently and I purchased up to five colors. The quality is great and it was such a good discount. High neck, turtle neck or roll neck tops are essential pieces to have in the fall and winter season because they not only keep you warm, they are stylish as well. To add a little holiday style to my work wear, I completed my look with a pair of black glitter sock ankle boots which really did not photograph well. My hubs gifted the boots to me last Christmas and they are definitely my favorite pair of boots right now. The glitter boots or pumps is a fun way to add a holiday accessory into your work wear. A faux croc embellished bag made this look office ready. Have a blessed week.

How to style a leopard prints skirt for a holiday Party

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this No. 21 pleated leopard prints skirt online was Christmas party. The beige color of the skirt with the red color contrast hem is so edgy and festive. I paired the skirt with a beige color or oatmeal color sweater with waist ties and black floral brooch. The red color beret complements the skirt nicely and the red color Staud bucket bag and black open toe Gianvito Rossi ankle boots elevates the edginess of the outfit. To recreate this look with budget friendly pieces, check out the links below.

Shoe Lovin' - Glitter Satin Pumps

It is the season of sparkly and glitter and this pair of Jimmy Choo glitter pumps would add all the sparkles and shine you need to a holiday outfit. I love the iridescent color of the pumps which makes it great to pair with almost any outfit. Glitter pumps are special occasion shoes that can be worn to parties and events like weddings, showers, the whole year through and at the end of the year, they can become our favorite holiday shoe. At close to $800 a pair, these shoes are pretty expensive but the best time to snag a pair is during this holiday season when big designer stores give discounts or shopping points to their customers. A similar design is currently on sale at the Farfetch website here and low price replicas can be purchased  from smaller brands like this d'Orsay design on the Macy's website and this pair from Kate Spade. Happy shopping, happy styling.

Styling a Leather Skirt for the Holiday

Leather skiers might not be a huge trend this fall, they are however a closet staple, an essential of some sorts. I scored this pencil leather skirt off of Loft a few years ago and love to restyle it over and over in the cold weather months. My favorite way of styling my leather skirt in the fall or winter is by pairing it with boots. When I want to tone down the edginess of the leather skirt, I throw in some faux faux in the form of a shawl, vest or bag. For this look here, I layered a turtle neck sweater into my leather pencil skirt, threw on my leather Altuzarra boots which actually adds to the edginess of the skirt and added my faux fur vest which toned everything down. When I got too warm, I rolled up my faux fur vest (which I purchased from Forever 21 years ago) into a ball and just carried it in my arms like a clutch. So, if you are styling your leather pieces for the holiday, mixing in warm and fuzzy accessories with it would make it holiday chic. Aside from faux fur shawl and scarfs, a good quality felt hat is a great idea too. I also like this Topshop teddy faux fur bucket bag here. Check out the other blog post I made of this outfit here.

The Animal Prints Skirt to wear to Work

Happy Monday everyone. I am sharing a quick look that I wore a few weeks ago and it deals with styling animal  prints for work. This print that is trending a great deal can be styled for a conservative work environment when it is done right. I chose this white color cheetah prints skirt that is an old purchase from Target and believe me when I tell you that this white and black color cheetah prints outfit is more appropriate for work than the regular brown color animal prints like this one here and here. (Although. it also depends on how it is styled and how strict your work environment is when it comes to fashion) To make my skirt more work appropriate, I added a black color blazer which I layered over a high neck short sleeved sweater. A pair of black pumps and a black mini bag completed the look. What say you about taking the animal prints trend to the conservative work space? I love you for stopping by. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Colorful Berets you need to complete your Holiday Outfit

Berets have been around for a long time and have added interest, textures and color to the outfits of stylish women for years. They might have originated from the wardrobes of Parisian women before spreading to other parts of the globe and now become a huge trend this fall. Berets are so stylish now more than ever before as they come in different fabrics and designs as opposed to the traditional plain wool or cashmere beret.

A colorful beret like the bright red pictured above found on the Shein Website can add a pop of color to any outfit. It can be paired with a monochrome outfit like an all black or all neutral outfit and can also be paired with florals and other patterns. The traditional wool beret also comes accessorized with pearls and sequins which add textures and interest to a regular or basic outfit. Then we have leather berets, plaid berets, sequins and even animal prints berets. 'want to add this stylish accessory to your wardrobe this fall and winter? Check out the selections below.

The number one Accessory you need for the Holiday: Multi color sequin vintage Clutch

How much clutches can a lady have? Plenty! if you ask me 😀We need cute little clutches to go with our dressy outfits especially at this time of the year. This sequin vintage clutch is the latest addition to my closet nd it is a thrift find from Arcs Value Village. If you are not familiar with the organization, it is a Thrift store and donation center that has its origin from the state of Minnesota. There are four stores located in my city and they are set up to generate funds to help children and adults with developmental disabilities. The stores are clean, spacious and well organized with personal stylists at hand to help you if you are new to thrifting. Most people that work at these stores are volunteers and I must say the stores are the best consignment and thrift stores in my city.

Holiday Party Outfit Inspiration: ONE

It is time to start putting pieces together for the holidays and one way to do this effortlessly, is to put classy pieces and seasonal colors together. For this look, I used a pleated skirt as my foundation for this holiday look and you must know by now that the pleated skirt is a classic style that can be worn for any occasion and event depending on how it is styled. I paired the pleated skirt with a soft color lilac sweater and accessorized with burgundy color velvet clutch and suede bow pumps. Burgundy or wine is a color that works well for fall and winter and velvet is a rich fabric that works well for party or festive style. The green lucite earrings add a beautiful pop of color to the whole look. What colors are you putting together in your holiday outfit?

The Sweater Dress: A cold weather Closet Essential

If there is a style of dress we have to own in our closet in the cold weather month, it has to be the sweater dress. It is a very comfortable style of dress to wear when the temperatures drop and the styling options are endless. You can pair your sweater dress with a pair of sneakers or flats when the weather is not that cold and you can style with tights and boots when the temperature gets really, really cold. A sweater dress can also be layered with denim jackets, bomber jackets and long coats. The dress I am wearing here is an old piece from my closet and it is in my favorite color purple. I styled it with a pair of black tights and boots and completed the look with tassel earrings and a printed head wrap which is actually in animal prints. Since this is the season for wearing sweater dresses, there are so many options available on sale at different stores and I have linked a few in my shopping links below. However, I was not able to find an affordable sweater dress in a purple or lilac color to add to the list. What are your thoughts on sweater dresses?

The Camel Robe Coat: Formal Dress Essential

Happy Monday everyone and happy December. This is my favorite month in the year I tell you. I'm so looking forward to the Holiday/Christmas/New Year celebrations but I'm also hoping that time would slow down so that I can enjoy every bit of this season. If you are still looking to take advantage of all the discounts and sales at this time, you might want to add the long camel robe coat to your list. This is a closet essential if you ever dress up in formal attire for work or even dressing up for other events like weddings, Church services and formal parties. The robe coat is very elegant and classy and also very comfy and cozy. A good quality 100% wool coat is quite expensive and can be a big fashion investment. There are however, so many options available at different price points at different stores.
