Purple Peplum

I wore this peplum top a few Sundays ago to Church and took these pictures after a long day. I thought afterwards that I should have reserved the top for Sunday after thanksgiving because to tell you the truth; as you might know by now; peplum tops do hide all that belly fat nicely and I plan to indulge in turkey dinners this Thursday. I wish I was able to get this particular one in a grey or black color though then it would have made a great pairing with a pair of culottes and boots for the fall weather.

I got this peplum top from Venus, an online store that sells good quality and affordable clothing. I don't shop with them all the time but they do deliver their store catalogues to my house diligently. To digress, I know most people love digital stuff and online shopping just like I do and would like to do "paperless" anything but I just love fashion catalogues in print and get excited when I get a fashion catalogue in the mail. So, as I was saying, I saw this purple peplum top in a Venus Catalog and I really loved it and I went online and ordered it and the top arrived exactly the way it was shown in the catalog.

I planned to make this post very short and I am going to sign out right now but I would love to know if anyone remembers or have (has) ever ordered any item from a print (paper) catalogue before. This question does not apply to the Millennials (twentys or under twentys) who would stop by here though...lol. They certainly would not know what I am talking about. Happy thanksgiving in advance friends; I just wanted to inject some humor here...lol.

Mustard and Oatmeal colors: Knit top and tweed skirt

The title of this post just makes me smile because the truth is; I do not like Mustard and Oatmeal; that is, if you are talking about food. I'm actually talking about the colors here; my mustard color cap sleeved sweater and my oat meal color skirt. I wore this outfit last month on a beautiful fall day speaking of which; we have been having a warm beautiful Autumn here in Minnesota but the forecast is that it is going to get really cold fast in the next few days; oh well...

This oatmeal color tweed skirt was custom made by my seamstress years ago; I saw the fabric at the fabric store and fell in love with it; it is durable and of high quality. The sweater is an old purchase from Nordstrom. The shoes are Audrey Brooke and a very old purchase from DSW. The fringed bag is an old purchase from a Vintage store about three years ago when I had no idea that fringe was going to be a trend; fast forward to now...fringe is trending.  Don't you just love it when fashion aligns like that?

Thanksgiving is around the corner and though it is the recognized holiday for giving thanks; let's not forget that we need to thank God for each day. There are so many wonderful things he has done for you whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. I have so many pictures saved up in my folder and I'll be doing a post each day from now on if I can...:-). I am also active on instagram now and you can find me at @beautyojo So, I might not like mustard and oatmeal as food but I really do like them as colors and the combination works well for me.

Denim and neon

So, it's been a while I posted any denim look on the blog ad when I wore this outfit a few Saturdays ago, I knew it was going to make it to the blog. The outfit comprised of old pieces from my closet except for the neon sandals which were purchased earlier this year. I have mentioned on so many occasions that I love blazers and this denim blazer I purchased from Target years ago is one of my favorite. I went shopping on the day I wore this outfit and it was perfect for the purpose. The weather was also very nice so, I did not need a trench coat.

Necklace: J Crew
Blazer and tee: Target
Pants: Victorias Secret

Do you like blazers as much as I do? I believe they elevate any look and pull it together; every lady should own at least one blazer in her closet and it is always a good idea to start with a classic black blazer. It is a good wardrobe staple.

As we know, Christmas is around the corner and it is that time of the year again; time to spread love and give gifts out of love to friends and family. The gifts or presents do not have to be expensive if we cannot afford it but it certainly has to be given out of love I reiterate. Above are some gift ideas I would love to give this season and these are for female friends and family but you can also get inspiration from these items too to get some wonderful gifts for men and children.

So, my eight year old son just signed up for basketball and we take him for practice twice a week and I decided to do a post on what to wear to a sports event and came up with the outfit collages above. As a fashion blogger (I am not a stylist though) I believe you have to wear the right clothes to the right occasion. I mean, denim or jeans works well for any sporting event because jeans is really, really casual. However, I decided to make my denim/jeans more interesting by adding a piece which is unusual and unexpected; at least for me and that's why I built my outfits around bomber jackets. I recently added a couple to my wardrobe and I think I now have an interesting outer wear/jacket collection. Do you own any bomber jacket?
