Adding some color to my style: Teal + Grey and daily Meditation/Affirmation

pring is here at last and it's time to roll out the colors. And speaking of which; I'm going to roll out the colors this year! In this post, I'm wearing a casual look where I paired a grey cowl neck ribbed sweater with charcoal grey denim. I finished off the look with a teal color coat, black pair of ankle boots and my old Ann Taylor bucket bag. I wore this outfit and similar variations of it a lot this winter; a sweater, denim and boots to attend my son's basket's ball games. The coat is an old purchase from Macys. I love the color and puffy sleeve detail which is so in trend right now. The addition of color to an outfit definitely uplifts the mood especially now that the weather is starting to warm up and we have the cloudy days behind us. Beautiful sunny weather calls for beautiful bright colors.

Grey Vintage Dress + White Mules

o the weather has been very nice in Minnesota lately but this is not going to be for long because we are expecting a snow storm Thanksgiving week according to the Weather Report. I'm really looking forward to the Thanksgiving break; snow or no snow. The Thanksgiving Holiday is the official kick off to the holiday season but I also never lose sight of the fact that everyday should be Thanksgiving. A grateful heart opens the way for more blessings.

Sequin Skirt + Glitter Pumps

I wish Christmas and New year was celebrated multiple times in a year; hands down my favorite holidays. This outfit is one of my holiday outfits that I wore to Church last Sunday and I decided to do a Flashback Friday look by sharing it on the blog today. The dark blue sequin pencil skirt is from Ann Taylor and it is currently on sale.  I love the midnight blue color of the sequin skirt. It is somewhat heavy but well made and durable. I paired it with a black cowl neck sweater previously styled here and glitter pumps to achieve a simple look. The blue glitter pumps are a recent addition from DSW and I glammed them up by adding shoe clips that I ordered from Amazon. I love how this shoes pair nicely with this skirt and it also pairs well with another piece in my closet that I blogged about here.

How I re-styled my sequin pencil Skirt

Happy Friday Friends; I hop you are all doing great. This is the second outfit I styled for the new year; a sequin pencil skirt previously worn here as a Christmas holiday outfit. I knew the temperature was going to dip in the week of the  new year holiday and I figured styling the sequin mesh skirt with a thick cowl neck sweater and a pair of ankle boots was going to do but nah, the weather was terribly cold and it was minus 2 degrees by New year eve night so I abandoned this outfit after taking pictures of it and wore a black leather pencil skirt, sweater and boots instead similar to what I wore here. My brown ankle boots paired with the sequins skirt was purchased recently after I wrote this post here and my Chloe Bag is a birthday gift.  My third outfit that I styled and planned for New year eve is what I would be wearing to Church on Sunday since the weather did not permit it to be worn  on New Year's Eve.

White sweat shirt + Plaid Skirt

Happy throwback Thursday 😀 This is another throwback look on the blog today; I'm wearing a simple sweat shirt over a plaid pencil skirt. I purchased this plaid pencil skirt from New York & Company two summers ago and I must say I really loved the plaid print when I first saw it online. I also like this bold plaid trousers here and here. I thought of all kinds of pairings for it; black tops and black pointed pumps, white tops and black pointed pumps with blue accents and then I purchased this blue satin bow mules late in the summer and I knew I wanted to do a fall pairing and that's how I put this simple outfit together. I love that this satin mules which have been in heavy rotation in my closet, can be paired with pretty much any piece. I added my blue tassel earrings for an added pop of blue and used my vintage patent purse to pull the look together. I'm definitely thinking of giving this satin mules the break it deserves now. This look can be worn to grown up events like PTA meetings, blog partnership meet-ups and casual business meetings and most importantly Church. Happy Thursday and thank you so much for reading.

Throwback to Summer: White button Shirt + Blue Denim Shorts

I love Thursdays especially when I get to throw back to beautiful summer weather. This is an outfit I wore during the summer; a typical summer outfit; a white button down shirt, blue denim shorts and a pair of mules which in this case is satin bow mules previously blogged about here. I love the cobalt blue color of the mules because it elevates the outfit by infusing a rich pop of color. This outfit is also styled based on the outfit inspiration mood board I blogged about here. I also love the translucent bag I was wearing with this outfit and it is a bag I am planning on taking with me everywhere this winter because it is made of PVC material and water friendly. I'm not going to be bothered when carrying this bag around on wet snowy days. And speaking of the weather, it is starting to get very cold here in Minnesota. After four days of constant rain, we woke up to very cold temperatures this morning and carpet of leaves on the yards and streets because the wind shook the dead leaves of the trees; so much clean up for us to do this weekend. How is the weather wherever you are? Summer was fun and I pray that this fall and the upcoming winter would even be more fun. Thanks so much for stopping by here.

Layered in Eshakti polka dots dress and a denim jacket

Happy Monday Friends; it's October....😀 October is my favorite month because it is my birthday month; haha! Then, I just love it because it is fall which is my favorite time of the year. I love the cold weather in October (not too cold and without the snow although we do get snow in October in Minnesota) and I love it when the trees start to change colors just before they lose their leaves. I love fall weddings too and I attended one a few weeks ago. My favorite layering piece this year is my denim jacket. For this look, I layered it over a polka dots dress which I used as a blouse when I tucked it into my red midi skirt. The polka dots dress I used for this look is this Eshakti polka dots dress I blogged about here. The dress has a full skirt but it tucked well into this full midi skirt I purchased from Chicwish a couple of summers ago. I completed the look with this Ann Taylor satin bow mules blogged about here and here. The weather is not cold enough yet for boots so I am enjoying this light layering for as long as I can. I shared my favorite Bible verse and prayer for the new month below and would love you to check it out. Thanks so much for stopping by here

What to do with old trendy pieces in your Closet

Hi Friends, happy Thursday 😀 I'm sharing an old look from my blog folder for this post on a throwback Thursday. (These pics were in my folder for about a year and were not blogged before now mostly because of the quality but I I tried to edit the pictures with the Snapseed App a bit and decided to blog them anyway). This pineapple prints skirt from Ann Taylor  is an old piece from my closet and I have styled it several times on the blog before in this post here and here.  It was so popular two summers ago because of the beautiful unusual pineapple print and there were about three pieces in the collection as it is usual with some of these trendy summer prints; there were dresses, skirts and shorts. For this look, I paired the skirt with a chambray shirt and block heel sandals and a "big-hair-don't-care" attitude 😁 I have worn this outfit a couple of times (since) after the day these pics were taken, mostly to church. And this brings me to the main idea behind this post; what do you do with very old trendy pieces in your closet?

Shoe Lovin' - Ann Taylor Blue Satin block heel Sandals

I froze for a second when I saw this cobalt blue satin bow Mules online. It's so beautiful and the combination of the blue with the brown heels is such a beautiful contrast. This is the exact example of what we call "Statement Shoes." And you know mules are trending this season so this is definitely a trendy pair. Ann Taylor is the designer of this beautiful pair and I must say that this is their best shoe design yet and this is because I have browsed the Ann Taylor shoe collections from previous years and this one really stands out. The Green Dress trend

                                                                                              *Pic adapted from here*

So, have you been seeing green? Have you noticed the new trend in dresses? Is the green dress the new dress trend? Well, yours sincerely here, Moi...😂 takes a look at the Fashion trends and the fashion scene to report them here on the blog especially if they are affordable. I do not have any business with high fashion and extremely expensive lines and labels; No Ma! We are no slave to fashion here. We can absolutely look good on a dime! woot! woot!! 😂 😂 That was a digression. So, like I said; I have been seeing lovely green dresses everywhere I look and I thought I should share a few of my favorites on here.

Brown tweed skirt + geen sweater

Hello, happy Monday. It is brown tweed A-line skirt and sweater for work wear Monday today. The weather is cold but not "heavy-jacket" cold so, I could get away with just the heavy fabric sweater and tweed skirt. Tweed, especially heavy tweed like the one this skirt is made of is a "cold-weather' fabric and it would really be odd for anyone to wear a skirt of this fabric in the

Denim Shirtdress + Pom-Pom Sandals

Hi Friends; this is another look on how I do I do casual style; aside from graphic tees and jeans, I totally love denim dresses or in this case, chambray dress. I purchased this from Boohoo a long time back and I love that is very comfy and simple. My only problem with the dress is that it wrinkles really easily and I don't like that. I paired the dress with this bucket bag I purchased from Ann Taylor a few summers ago

Hi Friends, I'm just going to make this post as short as it can be because I have had such a busy week. I'm spending a lot of time with the family these days especially the kids; helping with homework, volunteering at their school. I have not been able to adjust my time accordingly; something I used to be

Plaid Skirt + long red coat

Happy Monday lovelies; I hope the week started off right for you. I'm sharing a quick post for "work wear Monday" today featuring classic/old pieces from my closet. Since red color is trending this month and it's still winter, I decided to wear this long red coat as a statement piece over a simple white blouse and plaid wrap skirt. Do you notice the high neckline on my white blouse? It is really a nice touch since it mimics a turtle neck and the cut out lace details is so girly and fun.

The weather has warmed up to the 30s and if you live in Minnesota, this is warm/summer weather for us in the middle of winter 😂 So, do not be surprised that I am not wearing stockings. If you are not used to the cold however, I'll definitely recommend that you add a pair of nylon stockings to this outfit if you want to recreate this look.

Did anyone watch the super bowls last night? Oh my God! that was such a fun game!! I'm not a die hard football fan and I have not sat down through an entire football game before but I'm so glad I watched the whole game yesterday and saw how a team that was way down (New England Patriots) ended up winning the game in overtime; definitely history making moment/game. The win really strengthened my faith that we should never lose hope in life no matter the situation we are in. I wish you a great and productive week.

Velvet blazer and Burgundy Cords

Happy Monday 😁  Just a quick post here of what I wore to Church yesterday and it is very ideal for work too. The pictures do not do it justice but I am wearing a black color velvet blazer over a deep burgundy color corduroy pants. I layered my white long sleeve tee underneath the blazer for a less formal look. If you have velvet blazers deep  down in your closet, it is time to let them out. Have a great week.

Teal Coat + white washed Denim

Happy Thursday Everyone. My last post was on getting the colors out during the winter season and this post is just a follow up on that. For this post, I'm putting on very summery pieces; a white button down shirt over a pair of white washed, distressed blue denim pants which somewhat look like white denim in these pics. You definitely would not believe that the temperature was freezing in these pics; maybe because the sun was out but the temperature was about -5*F. It takes less than 30 minutes to get frost bite in such weather but I was not so cold; I was "freezzzing happy!"

Yes, that is what a happy outfit or comfortable outfit can do to your mood. When the weather is all grey, cold and moody, people seem to get depressed and cranky a lot; ask the psychologists; they'll tell you more about this "Cold weather blues." It's always easier to feel merry and happy when the weather is nice and the sun is out; maybe this is the main reason people go to vacation in sunny beautiful places and not snowy Minnesota...😂

Okay, back to this outfit; all I needed to do to transform it from summer to Winter was to throw on my heavy teal color coat with a hood and a pair of suede boots which I have had for like forever; over ten years now...hehehe, weathered and beaten by the snow 😅

So that is it for today's outfit and the styling tip I have for the day is that you never let the cold weather dictate your mood. You can wear summery outfits in the winter and just glam or warm it up with winter accessories like gloves, hats, over the knee boots and warm, cozy coats. When you feel depressed, think happy thoughts. Also, being a Christian woman, I'll take it further and tell you that; "Faith works all the time." So, "Faith" it till you make it! I love you for stopping by here and reading.

From Summer to Winter Midi skirt

Happy Thursday Everyone 😃 the weekend is almost here. It's freezing in my city and the temperature is going to drop even more this weekend with lots of snow. This post is on how to wear your summer pieces in the cold season or Winter. The key to do this is always the change of accessories as we all already know by now. I wore this Ann Taylor pineapple print midi skirt a couple of times in the summer and blogged about it HERE. This piece by all indications,  is definitely a summer piece at least judging by the print. This midi skirt was a huge hit in the stores and online because it sold out pretty quickly. Fast forward to last Sunday when we had a huge snow storm and I reached for the skirt again 😂

I have a couple of winter or heavy fabric skirts in my closet that I could have worn to church last Sunday but I was determined on wearing this particular skirt so I whopped out my winter accessories; this DIY faux fur snood, my knit sweater dress (worn as top) and over the knee boots. I completed the look with a blue long coat which is not shown in these pics and I was comfy and chic! Don't you think? wink!! Thanks so much for reading.

A Pop of Red

This is a very quick post here; I'm sharing this look I wore over the the summer on the blog today just because it has touches of red. If I live in the tropics or somewhere very warm, I would be wearing this outfit again during the upcoming holidays. I got the graphic tee from Wear your Praise; an online store that specializes in the sale of Christian apparel and I do love inspirational graphic tees because they can be dressed up or down. I paired the tee with this cut-out hem midi skirt I purchased from Ann Taylor and completed the look with red fringe sandals. The touch of red in the graphics and the red sandals helped to pull the whole look together.

If you need some inspiration on how to style graphic tees for work and for play, you can check out this post HERE and HERE. This is the season to wear red and you can check out this beautiful tee HERE and get a 10% discount by using the code; BEAUTYOJO
