One of those days...

Yeah, this is one of those days when I didn't feel like dressing up or looking glam; I threw on whatever was within reach in the closet and just went about my day. I was tempted to archive the pictures but as usual decided to post them. After all, this blog is a documentation of my style makeover which I do not mind sharing publicly...:)

I remember the first time my mum showed us her pictures when she was a young lady in the sixties and how hilarious it was to see her in the Fashion trends of that time; the big wigs, mini dresses and skirts, maxis and clogs. This makes me wonder what my own experience will be when the time comes. Are my kids going to giggle and get excited when they see my blog pictures years later or are they just going to wave them aside? I always get this awesome feeling myself whenever I remember that my blog is my authobiography. Whatever I document on here would be preserved in history for my future generation...I think?...:) So long as blogger does not crash or go out of technology.

Right now, my kids just ask a lot of questions; "Mum, why do you keep taking pictures?" "Mum, why do you keep loading your pictures on the computer?" I have explained the blogging thing to them but it seems like they are not too concerned right now.

Well, March is just around the corner and Spring is definitely closer than ever. Now, I'm just looking forward to Spring trends.

Thanks so much for reading and do have a wonderful weekend. **Kisses!**

Spring, Please! Please!! Please!!!

Yes! you sure read that right!! That is the title of this post; "Spring, please, please please!!!" I am about to vent my frustration with this weather on this blog right now....:) When is it going to be spring? those breezy beautiful days with birds chirping in the trees and all the dead grass sprouting and coming back to life...I can't wait for the rebirth. I'm so tired of this snow already. We had a major snow storm Thursday night which dropped about three to five inches on us again and we have practically had snow on the ground for months...

So, I thought about the weather situation and decided to start a rebellion. I went in to my closet and looked for the outfit that screamed "SPRING" most and donning my colorful ensemble stepped out the door....:)

Well, you definitely know how that would go already. I couldn't go very far with my outfit. My precious cobalt blue heels did not like to be dipped in the snow and since it is the only blue pair of shoes I own (I think?..) and one of my favorites, (I love colorful shoes) I retracted my steps...:)

What else can a Christian woman do? but go back in the house and drink a hot cup of cocoa? But I can tell salvation is here. The rebirth has begun. The temperature is in the late twenties today and the snow and ice is starting to melt. Yay!! Spring is on its way...I can tell.

Jacket and dress: Burlington
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Necklace: Fashion Bug
Bracelet: Target (DIY- necklace turned to bracelet)
Teal handbag: Purchased from a Friend (Business Woman) years ago.

I'll save the colorful outfit for another day and I'm certainly looking forward to Easter. Yes, Christ is risen and soon it will be that time of the year to celebrate and remember his great gift to man again. The gift of SALVATION. Thanks so much for reading.

Forever What???

So, it's been like two, three days since I last posted to my blog? I don't think so...:) You see, my blog has become like my best friend and what do you do with a best friend? You chat and enjoy each other's company. One fact about me; I do not really have close girlfriends I can chat with about fashion and all that all the time.  The very few ones I have are busy with family, school and work like me. The only time we get together is in the summer time when we organize parties and other activities for the kids. During this period, (cold winter) we just text and play tag on our phones. So, now you know why my blog has become my best friend. I just sign in and chat about whatever I like...:)

I was on some sort of shopping freeze for the past months which I had to do out of necessity. I had so much stuff in my closet which were collecting dust by the day because I never touched them. I had to reorganize my wardrobe and donated items I did not want while I tried to love all the other pieces. The shopping freeze or ban was finally lifted by moi but with conditions...:) I would only buy items that I totally and really need. Gone are those days when I used to shop just for fun or as a therapy after having a stressful week or just to show off...:) **Come on, you know ladies do that..

So, I do not have a vest and I have always wanted to own one. They glam up an outfit and are so cool for the spring season when the heavy jackets are no longer needed. More so, after doing a post on "Winter Must-haves" which you can read here, I decided to go ahead and get my first vest. I did some research on polyvore and saw this cool black vest pictured above from Forever 21 for $19.99! As you can guess, "yours truly" ordered it right away!!....lol

In my younger days when I was single, Forever 21 was my best place to shop along with the department store Wet Seal. But after three kids and gaining about 20 pounds, I was not a fan of any of these stores as it was always difficult to get anything in my size and I felt most of their items were too sexy and clingy and thus meant for the younger ladies. So, I reverted to stores like Tj Maxx, Macy's, Loft and Victoriassecret to name a few. However, I wanted to make good use of the discount on the website; free shipping on items over $50,  so, I decided to check their clearance items to see if there was anything I liked and these are all the items I ordered below;

Faux Fur Vest with belt: $19.99

Longline Duo-Toned Sweater: $7.99

Speckled High-Rise Pants: $9:99

Essential Cuffed Ankle Pants with belt: $11.99

Essential Mini Gingham Pants: $10:99

As always most of their pants stopped at size 12 and I am a size 13 but I decided to order them anyway and I'll just give them away if they do not fit.

Oh, I almost ended this post without completing the story. So, I took another peek on the website again days after I ordered my items. I was looking for a cobalt blue blazer which was on my wish list for spring and they had these two incredible blazers at good prices on Forever 21 website.

This cobalt blue blazer was $15 but I did not really like the fabric even though the color and cut was great.

I settled instead for this blazer with a very stylish cut but it was $34. 80

This last purchase almost made me do the cat-wheels! This beautiful floral blazer was on sale for $15.99 and what's more; it's in my favorite colors; purple and green.

So, that's my first major purchase after a long time but **ssshhh** let's not count the shoes please...:) I think I just heard my door bell; got to go....

Wow!! my packages came! Look forward to seeing these items on my blog and let's hope the pants fit; fingers crossed!

My Closet.com - Part Two

So, I did spend some valuable time in my Closet or Shoe-room as I sometimes call it...:) It used to be a nightmare trying to get dressed as things were always so disorganized in there. After toying with several options; whether to put similar clothing items together like skirts on one side and dresses on the other or to put similar colors together, I finally just took a plunge and dealt with the situation outright!

I finally decided on using both methods I had been debating in my mind for ages. I put all the jackets and outerwear on one rack where I could easily reach them while I put all other items on another rack on the side where I tried to do some color organization by putting similar colors together. Then I stashed some of my bags on a shelve in between both clothing racks. A few of the bags that could not be stashed on the shelve either because they are a little pricey..**wink!**wink!!..or easily damaged were hung on the walls as some sort of display. Also,  I always stick in cut pieces of cardboard into my boots to keep them straight and in shape for next usage.

Since I have a little closet, I really wanted to get my organization right by taking note of where everything was kept. I did some DIY on a box where I keep my clutches but left it in the same corner where it used to be. Then, my sandals and everyday shoes or flats were stashed in a neat pile by my clutch box.

My Old Closet View: Check out the post here...

My New Closet View

This is the old view of the little corner

This is the same clutch-box but I just did some DIY on it by glamming it up with some stick-ons.

I do not own a lot of jewelry (accessories) and since I do not have jewelry drawers in my closet, I decided to put some of my bracelets in an old velvet box which I put up on the shelve in a corner.

Other jewelry pieces were stored in clear zipper bags where I can see them easily and then, I stored them in a little basket. When I'm able to get a bigger closet with shelves and drawers, it will be easy to transfer them.
So, that's my newly-reorganized closet space and I hope to keep it looking organized.

Thanks for stopping by and taking time to share in my makeover journey. Feel free to leave your thoughts and comments on how you have handled or made over a small space in the past.

NY Fashion Week-2013

I hope everyone is doing great and well. I have been busy with work and school and decided to take a little break to comment on the on-going or just concluded Fashion Week. I do not think I have ever done a post on Fashion Week on my blog just as I do not like to comment on Award shows/Red carpet events; the main reason being that these stars or Hollywood celebrities usually require a "Glam Squad" to look the way they do. They have stylists, image consultants, dietitians, personal trainers and all that to help them look great all the time and are thus different from the average fashionista who does not have this squad but yet still looks glam. Therefore, I leave all these people alone and none of them are my Fashion/Style Icon.

However, over the years, I have paid close attention to a "Global and Mega" fashion icon; the beautiful and stylish VICTORIA BECKHAM!! and when she made a grand impact on New York Fashion Week, I could not help but break a tradition on my blog. And so, I think I can say for now that she is my fashion icon.

VB is a beautiful married woman of four who has not paused for a minute with her style or passion for fashion. What is more? She is married to one of the most handsome dudes on the face of the earth and together, they have the cutest family ever!! When I learnt years ago that the couple was moving from the UK to the USA, my heart stopped for a minute because I was like; "ooohh oh, here comes drama, here comes the break-up!" But the couple seems to have gotten even closer with the move and even added a new angel, Harper, to the brood. Okay, I have to stop gushing...I was just going to comment on the NYC fashion week right? Well, here are some pictures from the show.

VB's fashion collection was very much true to her style; sleek, fitted and elegant. However, instead of putting her models in those sky-high heels that she is well known for, they all wore these super cute booties of modest heel height. There were lots of monochrome design and beautiful fabric in solid colors and some color blocking. My favorites were all the cobalt blue color designs. Also, Cobalt blue is a color that seems not to be going anywhere even with the announcement by Pantone that Emerald is the color of the season. These, below are my best looks from the show..

These looks below are my least favorites...

I loved most of the looks that had the high necks or turtle neck and they are definitely suitable for Fall. With this, I say Kudos to VB. She has certainly done well.

And to all those critics out there, who criticize Victoria for her famous pout and the fact that she rarely smiles; what do you think of the photo below?

It is true in life that no matter what you do, or how great you are, there will always be some critics out there. There will be a lot of people waiting to bring you down at the slightest opportunity. So with this, I say it is obvious that VB rarely smiles and goes about with a pout but she has never made an interview where she proclaimed that she is a perfect being or an angel. So, to those critics, why don't you talk about all her achievements instead? She is a hardworking married woman of four who is a great role model for all women out there. She has never been (to the best of my knowledge) photographed in a compromising situation; doing drugs, getting drunk or being arrested as most other celebrities are known for. I wish her and her great husband and beautiful family; many, many happy years ahead.

I would like to close this post with these words;
A family that prays and play together, stay together.
A family that supports and comforts one another, conquers all and suffers none.
