Green Dupioni Midi Dress + Ankle Boots
Happy Monday Friends; in keeping with my new year goals to buy less and style more, I'm restyling this green dupioni midi dress from my closet. It's a dress I got through a collaboration with eShakti years ago and I have styled it previously on the blog here and here. Each time I style the dress by switching up my accessories, it always feels like I have on a new dress or outfit. The first time, I wore it with leopard print pumps and a statement jewelry for a very simple look. I layered a black sweater and knee boots with it the second time. And yesterday I decided to layer a black turtle neck sweater underneath to wear to church. I cinched the waist with an embellished Asos belt similar to this and completed the look with my Altuzarra ankle boots and Nine West snake print bag. The weather was very cold so I wore a pair of black stockings with the look. It was a very windy and cloudy day yesterday and the dress does look different in every pic mostly because of the dupioni fabric and iridescent texture that makes it look different based on how the sun or light hits it. The wind also whipped up snow and tossed it on me; I must say it was a fun shoot yesterday after church.

How to style an "All-black" Outfit
So, when is the best time to wear an "all-black' outfit if not now; in the winter? The snow might not have come down yet but the cold has crept in and the layered outfits have started to come out of the closet. My faux-fur leather skirt is from Loft, my turtle neck sweater is so old that I do not even remember what store I got it from, over the knee boots are an old purchase from the Altuzarra and Target collaboration from three years ago. My bracelet is thrifted and my faux-fur vest is an old purchase from Forever 21. Phew! 😅 Can you remember all the items I just listed? Yes! that is the key or tip to styling an all black look; you just throw all the textures together; leather,

Black sweater + Culottes for Fall
So, one of my favorite pairings in the cold season is grey and black colors and another favorite habit of mine is to re-style my summer pieces in the fall as seen in my previous post. All I do to make it appropriate for the new season is to switch up the accessories. When I wore this culottes previously in the warmer months, I wore a pair of black pumps with it and a light weight top or sweater depending on the weather conditions. For Fall, I just switched the pumps out for a pair of ankle boots. The fabric of this culottes is really light and so it is appropriate for Summer and Fall but I can still make it work for winter by wearing knee high

Maxi Dress + a Hat
Happy Thursday Friends; first of all, I want to say a big "Thank-you" to everyone that stops by this blog. I really appreciate your readership and support. I do not have the best pictures or the best layout and I'm tired of apologizing for my picture quality on here (which actually are taken by my kids with my iPhone camera) but I'm really amazed that other bloggers and visitors do not mind the pictures and they keep stopping by to read and leave comments. So, thank-you all so much. I really appreciate you. Blogging has nothing to do with soliciting for "likes" and "comments" but really all about the love for "Publishing and Sharing."
So, I wore this outfit to Church yesterday for our midweek bible study and you might not know it from the blurry pictures but I am layered-up like an onion. I wore a tank-top maxi black dress over a turtle neck sweater dress and wore my over the knee boots all in this one outfit (due to the freezing temperature) and also a long camel color coat that reaches down to my ankles which I took off to take these pictures 🙆 Then, I flipped on a burgundy color floppy hat for extra warmth and pop of color. Yes! I got the cold taken care of! 😂
Do you know what else I'm happy to take care of? 2017! Yes, 2017 is my year, my baby, and I'm going to take control of it and take care of it the whole year through and by this I mean that I have all things under control by the grace of God. And to take care of it, I'll be doing all I need to succeed according to God's word. I'll read my bible more, pray more and show the love of God to others. Thanks so much for reading.
