Winter Shopping List

know winter is almost over and spring is around the corner but for me, the two seasons kind of merge as one because we do get snow in my state till April. So, it's not too late to do a winter wish list. I love to plan and list my needed items some place where I can see them and I love making the list as colorful and fun as I can. For this season, I need a colorful puffy coat preferably a red color one because the color is so fun and bold. Puffy coats are also a big trend this season and we would see the trend even into the spring season.  Combat boots is another huge trend this season and a very functional one at that. If you are in need of a cute affordable pair, check out this stylish pair at DSW.

Sequins and more sequins and Happy New Year!

Happy new year everyone! 😃 2020 is here and it's going to be a great year for everyone. The key is to be consistent in doing good and being kind and praying and meditating on God's word and you will be just fine. I'm usually not big on making new year resolutions but this year, I decided to make resolutions or set goals for fitness and exercise. I'll share more on that later. Outfit wise, I started my new year in blings, and glitz and glitter as you can see from this outfit. This is what I wore to Church first Sunday of the year.

Vintage Styling: Floral Sequin blouse + Red circle Skirt

intage is where most things are going for me in the near future especially when it comes to fashion. I got this vintage looking sequin blouse from a thrift/consignment store in my neighborhood last year and previously styled it here. I was drawn to the many colors and sparkles that emanated from it while it was hanging on the rack. The sequin blouse is a statement piece because  of the colorful floral patterns or prints on it. I got it out again this season and paired it with this red circle skirt I got from Chicwish years ago when circle skirts and midi skirts were on trend. Well, it's 2019 and my skirt is still on trend for me...haha! 😂

Holiday Gift Guide

եhe  holiday shopping season is here and if you shopping for your loved ones especially the ladies and need some guide or inspiration on what to get them, then take a look at the listed items on the collage above. My general rule of gift giving at any time, is to give gift cards preferably from a store that your loved one is familiar with. However, if you absolutely need to get a gift for someone, then consider getting them gifts that they would not only enjoy, but they would also cherish at the same time. Almost every lady would enjoy a new set of Pajama Shorts any day and this bright red set is very fun and trendy and goes well with the festive season.

Grey Vintage Dress + White Mules

o the weather has been very nice in Minnesota lately but this is not going to be for long because we are expecting a snow storm Thanksgiving week according to the Weather Report. I'm really looking forward to the Thanksgiving break; snow or no snow. The Thanksgiving Holiday is the official kick off to the holiday season but I also never lose sight of the fact that everyday should be Thanksgiving. A grateful heart opens the way for more blessings.

Splashed in florals for Summer

This floral midi dress is what I wore for Easter, purchased from Stylewe months ago. It is the perfect summer dress suitable for events like weddings and showers. It is also the perfect dress to take with you on vacation. I love the splash of color which though very bold, does not detract from the simplicity of the dress. I look forward to restyling it for different occasions some time soon. Thanks so much for visiting.

Fall's Dress Trend: The Prairie Dress

The Prairie dress is the biggest dress trend for Fall
                                  ‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒‒
How to Style for work︱Fashion Inspiration

**Set adapted from @Styleboardcrea_**

The prairie dress or vintage dress (sometimes called the tea dress) is a huge trend this fall and I am loving it. These dresses that used to be regarded as matronly or too prude are now very chic and edgy. The dresses are usually high necked, sometimes smocked or ruffled and can be midi or maxi dresses. This Gap dress here is a prairie dress but it is listed as a midi dress on the site. I'm also loving this J.Crew olive color ruffle sweater dress which is a kind of modern twist on the prairie dress trend. The color is great for fall and the style would be flattering on most body types. This leopard print midi dress is also very cute and edgy but the price is quite steep unless you don't mind splurging on labels 😊 I think this fall dress trend is a carryover from those gorgeous ruffle midi and maxi dresses that were a huge trend this past summer.

Yellow Polka dots Maxi Dress + White Mules

Happy Monday Friends; I hope everyone reading this blog post today is doing great. There is so much going on in the world right now and so much catastrophe that when we wake up in the morning and are strong and can go about our daily duties, we have enough reason to give God thanks. I'm very thankful for a lot of things including this outfit I am wearing that I purchased from Shein for under $30. I had heard so much about the site; that their prices are very affordable and I wanted to test out the quality of their Fashion. The pvc bag I am holding here is also from the store. I must say I was very impressed when my items arrived. The quality of this dress and the other pvc bags that I ordered is very good.  This is not a sponsored post, just my own opinion and I'm just going to say I recommend Shein as a shopping site; at least you get good quality for the affordable price. It might not be the best quality but it's good enough. And with the way trends come and go so fast these days, you don't have to splurge on any item any more at a high end brand when you can make a purchase at an affordable site.

How to style: Leopard prints coat + Fanny Pack

Leopard prints trend is huge this fall and this post is on how to style an effortless look with a leopard prints coat and the fanny pack; another trending fashion piece. This outfit is suitable for  fall weather to go on casual errands. If you find the coat too heavy, you can switch it out for a leopard prints blazer like this one here. And if you don't know, leopard prints look very good when paired with red accents and if you are not into fanny pack, you can switch it out for a red saddle bag or cross body bag or any red color bag of your choice. This is purely a casual look; if you need inspiration on styling leopard prints for a less casual event like work, check out this previous post here.

Work Wear: wearing White after Labor Day

Happy Tuesday Friends; it's a short work week for those of us that reside in the United States. I hope you had a fun Labor Day holiday yesterday. So, we are back to work today and the kids are back to school. It was the first day of school for my kids today and I was glad to send them off with prayers and thanksgiving. It's the best thing parents can do for their kids apart from providing them with all their needs; praying for them. I pray for my kids before they start a new school year for God to protect and guide them and help them make the right decisions at all times. The prayer has to continue too; not just a one day thing 😀 Okay, back to "Mommy Fashion;"what do you wear to work the day after Labor Day holiday which is the official end of summer? What do you say about the ongoing debate of not wearing white after Labor day? It's a rule that has been debunked long time ago as most people wear whites even well into the winter; winter whites anyone? The ongoing debate about not wearing whites after labor day by Fashion bloggers is just a fun debate at this time of the year; just something to talk about; so let's leave that old lady's tale alone 😊

Fall's Number One Bag Trend

Happy Labor Day Friends 😀 If you live in the United States, you know today is a national holiday and the official last day of summer. Being a holiday, it is the perfect day to prepare for the upcoming Fall season. If your preparation involves going on a last minute vacation, going on a road trip, going to State Fairs or just hanging around enjoying a picnic or barbecue, the one accessory that you should think of adding to your closet is the waist bag. This is a fashion accessory that was very popular in the eighties and while Fashionistas were happy to lay it to rest for decades, its sudden resurgence in the recent season, has many excited. It was popularly known as the "Fanny Pack" in previous years and now it has gained other fancy names like "Waist Bag" and "Belt bag." While I have a "Love-Hate" relationship with this trend, I admit it does add a cool interest to an outfit. Also, designers have started making versatile bags that you can wear as a cross body bag and convert to a waist bag when you need to. Let's hope this trend hangs around for a while. Below are my selections of affordable, colorful fanny packs to fit any budget.

Polka dots blouse + High waist pants

Are we tired of the polka dots trend yet? I don't think so. This trend is going right through fall and even if goes away, it will show up again as it has done in previous years. This is the reason why I have so many polka dots pieces in my closet. I wore this blouse to church weeks ago and it is similar to the one I wore here, just a different color. For this look, I paired it with a black color high waist paints which is.....*shhhh* actually a maternity pant. Yup! It is one of my maternity pants I got from Target years ago that I converted to a high waist pants and I didn't even have to do any alterations to it. I completed the look with a black blazer and white pair of sandals; as simple as can be. Don't you love it when you are able to wear old pieces from your closet? Thank you so much of stopping by here.

How I style one shoulder tops

Happy Wednesday Friends; I hope the week is going great. It's almost Friday; Woot! 😁 This post is about overcoming personal insecurities when it comes to dressing up. Most women like me have one or two things about their bodies that they are insecure about and for me, it's my neck and fat arms...Lol 😂 This does not stop me from wearing off-shoulder tops or sleeveless tops though. I wear my looks with confidence; fat arms and all and you should too. I'm sharing this look I wore to Church weeks ago for our Wednesday mid-week service; a white one shoulder top over a red midi skirt.

Stripped top + White oversized denim

Happy Monday Friends 😀 We are almost at the end of summer (how sad) I've been busy enjoying the last days of summer with the kids and we just got back from our last family get-away for the summer and I'm now trying to get the kids ready for their first day of school which is after the Labor day holiday. Labor day is actually the unofficial last day of summer and they say no white outfit after the Labor day holiday and I say; "I don't care! haha! 😂 We all know those rules don't work anymore. Anyway, I wore this outfit weeks ago and just decided to blog it real quick this morning. I got this JCrew off the shoulder top last year and it actually had about one inch straps attached to the neckline which I cut off. The reason I cut them off was because I found them annoying whenever I tried to put on the top like putting my hands in the wrong hole and then finally getting it right and the straps falling off my shoulders over and over...have you ever experienced that with some off shoulder tops? 😜

Mustard top + Khaki Pants

It's been very hot and humid in the twin cities and I have been living in sleeveless tops and shorts and cropped pants. I am so tired of this heat wave already! 😓 Did I also say I have been glued to my straw bags? I just love the natural feel of straw bags and the cool vibes it brings to summer outfits. I wore this outfit a few days ago to watch a play with my kids and it was a day I did not want to be outside because of the high humidity. Knowing that it was going to be cool in the theatre I had a denim jacket with me which I did not include in the pictures. My tie waist khaki pants and top is from Loft and my sandals are from DSW. I think it is about time I retire this particular straw bag; It's been in heavy rotation since last summer. Right now, I'm kind of longing for Fall. I'm so tired of this heat wave already. I hope you are enjoying great weather wherever you are. Thank you so much for stopping by here.

Pink Dress + Metallic Heels

I don't own a lot of pink or fuchsia color dresses but I do own a couple of pink blazers and pants and I wanted to add to my pink color collection. Then I saw this dress on sale last summer in a Burlington Catalog that came in the mail to the house. I was a little confused about the color. It said pink in the color description but I thought it was a deep fuchsia color. Then, the dress came in the mail after I ordered it and it looked like magenta which is more like a purplish color. I decided to keep the dress anyway because I like the simplicity of the dress and the shiny metallic straps and for the under $30 price tag, the quality wasn't that bad. I purchased the floral clutch at the same time as the dress and I knew the outfit would come in handy for a quick dress-up to go on a date or to a party. That day came recently when I was invited to a wedding on the same day that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got married and I knew right away that I was going to wear this dress. I paired it with a pink Fascinator (hat) in a nod to the big British themed wedding of the day and I completed the look with sparkly drop earrings and metallic heels and these are the pictures I took sans the hat. Thanks so much for reading.

Work Style: Ivory + Brown

Ivory or white and brown has been one of my favorite color pairings this season. Here I am wearing an ivory blouse paired with a tweed brown color A-line skirt. The tweed skirt is more or less a cold weather staple but I made the outfit summer worthy by accessorizing with floral embellished pumps in a nude color to match the color tone of the outfit. My vintage leather bag completed the look. Thanks for viewing.

Work Style: Purple + Lilac

Purple is my favorite color of all time though I don't get to wear it as often as I would like. This is the reason I was super excited when the color started to trend in spring. Purple and lilac is also one of my favorite color blocking combination as seen in this style inspiration post here. For this look, I'm wearing my light purple or lilac color J. Crew NO. 2 Pencil Skirt in cotton twill; such great quality; I don't know if the store still carries this style of pencil skirt anymore. I paired it with a purple color sleeveless top and completed the look with a metallic statement necklace from Burlington. The black sleeveless coat from House of Fraser and black pumps nailed the look as a work style. Click on the shopping links below if you care for more shopping info.

Create your own Vintage: My white lace sun dress

We all know vintage is any thing or piece that is old but has great value and there are ladies that are exclusively into vintage fashion. They seek out old period/vintage pieces to put together a unique style. If done right, that sense of style stands out any time. Well, I do love vintage pieces too but I'm yet to focus exclusively on creating a vintage style for myself. What I focused on however, was styling this old lace dress for this post. It is a dress I have had for years and it is actually my "weight-checker" or my "weight piece." And by this I mean, I keep some pieces in my closet; pants, dresses and tops that I use to check my weight gain. If they don't fit right, then it is time to hit the gym! Lol...😂 I think this method is just better than obsessing over numbers on the scale. I do use the scale too now and then and then, there is the "waist-measurement method," where you use a tape to measure your waist line...😂 Oh, this is not a fitness post; that would be dealt with at a different time...
