       Denim is having a big moment this season as you can tell from all the denim pieces you see around in the streets and on the runways; denim skirts, blazers, shirts, jumpsuits, vests, dresses, accessories...denim is just everywhere. If you are into this trend, you don't need to spend much to get into it as you can find good quality denim pieces from second hand or thrift stores or just dig deep into your closet; you just might find that one piece you purchased years ago and then hope that it still fits; haha! 😊

        Wishing everyone joy, happiness and health this new month of August 💯 The year is gradually getting to the end. Can we talk about the heat wave though! I hope everyone of you is keeping cool. My outfit today is not the best to beat the heat because of the color; black colors absorb heat as we know. However, the fabric and style of the dress is great for keeping cool while still staying stylish in this hot summer weather.

Summer Floral Dress + Straw Bag

              Another floral dress on the blog today; I have been wearing a lot of them lately and that is mostly because I wore mostly solids all through past winter and I feel like I need to take a break. The last time I wore florals in the winter or cold season, I blogged about it here. Now back to this maxi dress I purchased from Boohoo a couple of years ago and have worn a couple of times and about two times already this summer.

The print, color and style of this maxi dress is beautiful, and the quality of the fabric is great compared to a couple of pieces I have bought from Boohoo before which had very low quality and had to be returned. I styled the dress with a pair of tassel earrings for some statement effect and completed the look with my trusted rattan clutch and a white belt to cinch the waist, plus a pair of heels. How to elevate a floral dress: Statement earrings + Statement Clutch

   

      My summer style includes lots of dresses which are usually easy to wear and easy to style. In order to elevate my dresses, I try to accessorize with colorful accessories, and I did that in this outfit by wearing blue color statement earrings from J Crew and a blue color woven pouch. The red square toed sandals, similar here are my go-to sandals this season and my red floral dress is an old purchase from Eshakti. Thanks so much for stopping by here.

Shoe Lovin' - Clear floral glitter Pumps

           Ͳhe best piece of accessory or fashion item is the one that is so versatile that it can be styled with any look in our closet and is stylish and affordable at the same time. This pearlized glitter pumps from DSW strikes off every item on the versatile accessory list because it's very stylish and chic design makes for a great pairing with any outfit, casual or dressed up. It would go perfectly with most summer outfits because of the neutral colors, lucite accent and floral design. The glitter accent on the pump also makes it a great holiday shoe. Summer Style: Lace dress + Straw Bag

 

        My obsession with lace dresses this past Summer was real however these dresses have just been laying low in the closet all these years and not new purchases. Since this past summer was really hot, it was a no brainer to live in these dresses. This piece right here was purchased about three Summers ago from Boohoo.. I styled it with an orange color scarf and a pair of crisscross mules and a straw bag which is always my favorite accessory in the Summer. There is just something about straw bags and accessories that make summer outfits pop. Scarfs have also become my favorite accessory too. Thanks so much for reading.

Polka dots Dress + Square toed Sandals

 

        Polka dots pieces are essentials in a closet in my opinion. The print is a classic and never goes out of style. Every spring and summer, polka dots prints emerge on the fashion scene and what differentiates it from one season to the next, is the way that it is styled. A polka dots dress is the piece you need when you need to add some interest to your wardrobe. The dress that stole my heart this season is this Monique Lhuillier dress here and here. 'So, so gorgeous! 😍

 My dress that I am wearing in this post was purchased from Boohoo a couple of summers ago. I styled it with a pair of black square toed sandals from Ego Shoes, an online shoe store that sells a lot of inspired dupes and variations of luxury shoes. The quality and price point of their shoes is great for fast fashion if you want to get into a trend without spending a lot of money. White ruffle hem dress + twist knot Sandals

           White color outfits or bright color dresses are the best when it comes to beating the summer heat along with natural fabrics. The heat in Minnesota has been on a high intensity and all my white color outfits are now at the front of my closet. I wore this flared ruffle hem dress recently and styled it with just neutral accessories; one of my favorite way of styling whites.        African print outfits are finding their way into big retail stores faster than ever before and one of the big designers that I am loving currently is The Oula Company. They have their collection presently at Nordstrom and other big retailers. The collection is beautiful, stylish and colorful and I really like this convertible mini dress  which is similar to what I am wearing in this post. My dress which is from a different designer, was gifted to me by my friend's Mom who traveled to Ghana. The dress can be worn over the shoulders as well.

Summer Statement Sandals I am loving right now

                                   One / Two / Three / Four / Five / Six / Seven

       Summer is the time for events and celebrations and the time for statement sandals and shoes. We missed out on a lot of celebrations and events last year due to the pandemic but things look pretty bright this summer now that things have stated to open up.  I am sharing some of my favorite styles of summer sandals in this post. What these sandals all  have in common is that they are colorful and fun and they each have different interesting detail.  Which sandal is your favorite?

Summer Style Inspiration: Neon + Tie-Dye

        𐌽ow that we are finally out of quarantine and ready to go out into the world (with social distancing and good hygiene of course) we might need some inspiration to get our fashion game going again considering the fact that we have been lounging at home for weeks in sweats and comfy pants. This neon tank top   similar here paired with tie-dye shorts and another style similar here makes a great outfit to wear to the park on a hot summer day. For a little warmth, complete the look with a white linen blazer and accessorize with neutral color straw bag and colorful slides. Happy styling and stay safe and sanitized.

      Ꮴacation is a very essential part of self care and mental health for everyone because we can take deep breaths and recharge while on vacation. Things are a lot different this year for everyone; no travel, no vacation. Usually at this time of the year, my family would have had one or two vacation. Last year, we ended our summer by taking a trip to Disney World in Florida and visited beaches in Clearwater and Tampa. The kids still talk about the trip because it was so much fun. We were hoping to have another fun vacation this year but have not been able to. Families everywhere are experiencing the same thing this year and some are planning to take road trips or have taken road trips because flying is not really safe right now. I believe every family should evaluate all the risks before they embark on activities outside of their home at this time.

Keeping Hope alive in my Green Floral Blouse and Denim

     Ⴈ have been wearing a lot of green lately and definitely not on purpose and even if it is, it is still okay in my book because after all, green symbolizes hope. This blouse is a very old piece in my closet and usually I wear it under a blazer but the need to get some Vitamin D prompted me to wear it alone  over the denim to run errands on a hot summer day. And when I say run errands, I mean around the house; come to think of it, I haven't really gone out that much since this whole pandemic started. I do most things from home and do delivery services and shipping for other things I need to get done outside the house. I guess this is a blessing for me. I understand that there are those that really have to be out there at this time performing essential services and I pray for them and their families. I pray God to keep and guide you if you are an essential worker and  I offer prayers for us all. We've got to keep hope alive that this soon shall pass. Thank you so much for reading.

Summer in style: Graphic Tees

   ऽo, we all know all that has been going on in the United States this summer and no, I am not talking about Covid 19, the ongoing pandemic. I am talking about the protests and civil unrest following the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police Officer. The incident happened here in my city and really hits home for me. I know the whole world was enraged at what happened and rightly so. We all have to condemn evil when we see it. We can all lend our voices to this national dialogue but must do it in a peaceful and civil way. I have not been able to attend a peaceful protest but can lend my voice and support to a peaceful dialogue. While you think of other ways in joining this national dialogue to end Police brutality and Racism, you can enjoy these looks I put together here. Thanks so much for reading.

         Ⴈ love it when trends recycle because it makes fashion more exciting and it's good for our wallets. The puffy sleeve is one of such trends that has recycled over the years. I purchased this polka dots blouse from Loft a couple of years ago, previously worn here. And to think that it's become a huge trend (puffy sleeves) two years later shows that fashion trends are really like revolving doors. I styled the blouse this time with a pair of white denim pants, green beaded earrings and my Bottega Veneta inspired mules and pouch bag which are my favorite summer accessories.
