First Quarter Recap

How Time Flies…

I would like to say it is funny how time flies; but it is not funny at all…:-). Somehow, it's hard to believe that we are already at the end of April. Didn't we just have a New year's day not too long ago??? **Sigh** As difficult as it might be to comprehend, it is real.

I thank God for his grace and his faithfulness. He has clothe us with his protection and we are ever grateful. At this time, I pause to count all my blessings that God has bestowed upon me. I did lose a very dear family member recently; my maternal grandma who passed away at the age of 93. Somehow, I had hoped she was going to make it to a 100 years so, I was sad when I got the news of her death. I could not make the trip to Africa for the funeral rites because of my new born and I give God praise for the journey mercies of all my family members that went home for the rites. In life, there are challenges but it does not change the fact that God is God no matter what. My Grandma was saved and she lived a very good and fulfilled life so we all celebrate the life that she lived and that is why I did not mention it on the blog earlier when it happened. Now, that I'm doing an official first quarter recap; a feature I just started on the blog, I felt it was necessary to mention it.

Now unto blogging issues, I want to launch this new segment that I would be doing every four months on the blog in which I would do a recap of the previous months including outfit posts, gists or any other important event or information that comes up. I'm still thinking of how and what to do for my first give away. I have had very amazing time in the blogging community and have made some awesome friends too and I think it is time to say thank you…:-). I will definitely draw up a plan on a Giveaway before the onset of summer. Now to the outfit recap…

Sweater Dress: Victoriassecret (old)

These are some of the outfits I wore from the beginning of the year till date and I must say I achieved quite a bit in the color department. I also grew a lot in my spirituality and I know greater things are in store for the rest of the year. You want to come with me for the ride? It's never too late!…:-) It's never too late to add some color to your closet and it is certainly not too late to make friends with Jesus.

Rain, Rain, Go Away…

It's a rainy day in the twin cities today. The rain started as a heavy thunderstorm last night and went on all through the morning. I knew the rain was forecast in the news a few days ago but I woke up with no idea of what to wear to church today. The only thing I was sure of was that I was going to wear my "All Weather Shoes." My good old trusted Qupid patent platform heels can weather all kind of storms…:-) Snow, rain, hail…All I have to do at the end of the day is to wipe it with a clean piece of towel, lay it on the vanity to dry and then put it away for next time.

At first, I thought of wearing winter boots then decided against it. I was done with anything winter in my mind, body, soul and spirit. After perusing in my closet for a few minutes, I quickly put together an outfit; a black and white check jacket over a pair of orange color pants. It was a very simple outfit and the orange color pants made the whole outfit pop. As the rain poured, I had the nagging temptation to sneak under the blankets with a hot cup of cocoa in my hand and the remote control at my side but then I quickly rejected the idea. I was late for church at the end of the day but I'm glad I made it. Hubby got ready so quick and was on his way with the kids so I made it there on my own and actually enjoyed driving in the down pour.

It is funny how people can be so scared or respectful of their bosses and supervisors at work and would do anything to get to work on a rainy or snowy day but when it comes to going to church, the weather becomes an excuse. Well, I'm glad I was not part of that crowd today. I found my good old brolly which I had not used in ages and as I opened it up, I thought of how umbrellas have changed over the years. These days, they are an item of fashion; fancy and stylish. As I drove, I got inspired to sing some rhymes about my brolly and I have poured it on the space below…:-)

                                                                          Pants: J. C. Penny
                                                                          White tee: Hanes
                                                                          Heels: Qupid
                                                                          Jacket: Thrifted

My good old, old,  brolly
ever ready, ever lovely

My good old brolly,
wide, round and comfy
brown wooden handle,
Good, good grapple

Now, they're transparent,
sometimes look like a tent
seen with models strutting the runway
customized and designed, all kinds of way
My good old brolly, remains black and lovely

Yes, it is old fashioned but I never use it with caution
It is strong, reliable and ever lovable
it might not have style yet it's always right

My old brolly, ever ready,
Ever lovely.

**Peace**

My Easter Outfit

Hi everyone, I know this post is kind of late because Easter is way over but I've been super busy. I'm glad I was able to upload my pictures this evening and also do this blog post. This blazer was thrifted over two years ago and it is one of my favorite blazers although I do not get to wear it as much as I would love to. I wanted to do a splash of color for Easter and decided it would be very appropriate for the fun, festive holiday; the celebration of the death and resurrection of our savior Jesus Christ. It is also adapted from my Polyvore styling from this Blog Post here. I paired it with this black skinnies I purchased at Target because the weather was very nice and sunny. My animal prints scarf is also from Target and I love the bold prints a lot. I thought it was leopard prints at first until my five year old daughter told me it is cheetah prints..:-). It had some long fringes at the hem when I bought it and I just trimmed them off with a scissors because I found them quite annoying. Now, I'm looking out for another nice bold animal prints scarf like this one. Prints in whatever form adds so much interest to an outfit. I know pointed toe shoes are trending but I'm not too comfortable wearing pointed toe shoes for long hours so, I donned my round toe platforms..:D

We are extending the Easter celebration and are planning something special for the kids next Sunday in church. I do not know what I would be wearing yet but I do know it would be comfortable and maybe colorful?

The picture below was taken in church and I had no Idea about it until after the service when I was shown the pic..:-).

Pants and Scarf: Target
Bag: Aldo
Jacket: Thrifted

White tee: Hanes
Sun glasses: gifted

April Snowman, Happy Good-Friday

Hi Friends, remember in my last post I said we were having a snow storm in the twin cities? There was a heavy snow fall; about six to eight inches in the northern part of Minnesota Wednesday night through Thursday morning. Hubby and I were off work today and we decided to have some fun in the snow with the kids. The weather was over fifty degrees and it felt so good being out; not too cold to do some outdoor activities. The kids even brought out their bikes and we had some fun. I was putting on a winter coat because I was busy doing house chores in an old long sleeve shirt and khaki pants when my son came excitedly to me to announce they were building a snowman outside. I quickly grabbed the first jacket I saw from the coat closet and slipped into a pair of hubby's old shoes that were lying in the garage which I wear sometimes when I'm working in the yard. My hubby and son made the snowman while the girls and I gave the snowman a fabulous make-over. Enjoy the pics below…:-)

This is how our snowman started; very, very bald with no sense of style…..:-)

We started first by putting on a some sunnies on our snow man which the kids named Olaf. We couldn't decide if it was a male or female snowman though.

Then, we decided to switch out the hat and we put the new floppy grey hat that I purchased recently on Olaf.

Have you ever wondered about those pink stains on my driveway which has appeared in the background of some of my blog pictures? Well, it is spray paint…:-). I was doing some DIY on my daughter's bike seen below last summer and I got the driveway messed up. I just wanted to spruce up her bike with a fresh coat of paint but forgot to lay the bike on a plastic wrap and just sprayed on it as it lay directly on the driveway. I learnt my lesson after that and have always covered everything that needs to be covered before spraying or painting.

I took my floppy hat back from Olaf then tried to do a selfie. The sun kept getting in my eyes; I should have snatched those sun glasses too…:-)

So, that's how I roll guys when I am at home doing chores. I'm not glammed up wearing heavy lipstick or six inch heels but just laid back. Since I didn't intend to do any blogging today but just cook and clean, I'll have to say "thank-you" to my kids and hubby for joining me in creating and posting this pictures on the blog. As for little baby Zion (who is about fourteen weeks old now), he was fast asleep upstairs.

Thanks so much for stopping by guys. I hope you've been having fun on this special Good Friday. It's time to celebrate the death and resurrection of our lord, savior and Jesus Christ once again. We do not have a lot of activities planned but we plan on going to church tomorrow for a prayer breakfast and of course, service on sunday.

                                                               Happy Easter everyone.
