Keeping it simple and bright: Pink pant suit + white Pumps

Hi Friends, we are going to keep this post short and simple because we are still talking about Pastels and it needs no more introduction plus the outfit itself is simple. I must say pink is my favorite pastel and it is no wonder that I have had this pink blazer for years. It is actually a thrifted piece and cost me less than $10 at the time I got it. I paired the pink blazer with  pink denim pants similar to this pair from Jcrew here. I get really excited when I am able to put together a complete outfit by playing mix-and-match in my closet and I have lots of pantsuits that I have paired together like that. Sometimes, the two colors are a little off and not a perfect match but it is still okay. Monochrome styling does not always have to be perfect. I completed the look with white pumps and a straw bag just because white pumps are the new neutrals and straw bags are just here to stay. Pastel's Work Style: Light blue Pants + Metallic Accents

Hi Beauties, I hope the week is going great. For those in the United States, it's a short work week because of the Memorial Day holiday on Monday and that is a good thing. Today's post is about how to style pastels for work and when I say pastels, I mean those light yummy colors like creams, yellow, light and baby blues, mint, lilacs, pink, tan...you know what I mean. Pastels are a big deal this season and I call them "happy colors." I think the key to making pastels work in a corporate work environment is to break up the pastels; that is, pick only one pastel color in a top or bottom and pair it with a slightly darker shade like I did with this grey plaid blazer. "Pastel- look" from head to toe is a little too festive for a corporate work setting. I completed the look by adding metallic accessories with my metallic tote and metallic cap-toe white pumps. The white tee just made the light blue pants pop but not too much which makes it still work appropriate. What are your thoughts on the pastel's trend? Thanks so much for stopping by here.

Tropical prints Pant + lace hem top

Hi everyone, happy Tuesday. Now, don't you just love Fashion when it keeps recycling and giving back? The 80's are here ladies! "woot!-woot!!" 😆 Remember, a time when Hawaiian prints or tropical prints shirts were trending for guys? I do not really remember myself but for the sake of fashion I am going to pretend that I do...hehehe.We'll talk about our ages and the eighties in detail later in a different post 😛 So, like I said, Hawaiian and tropical prints are trending again and we are going to see the prints a lot this summer. This tropical prints pants I am wearing here is a couple of years old; it was just a random purchase I made years ago because I really liked the color of the prints. These pictures are some of my archived pictures that never made it to the blog until now.

Happy Memorial day + My "Go to Summer Outfit."

Happy Memorial Day everyone. I say a very big Thank-You to all the Men and Women who have served in the armed Forces and are still serving. and to all those who dedicate their lives to fight for Freedom, I say Thank-you. This is a quick post here to celebrate Memorial day and the unofficial start of summer. My outfit which consists of a pair of blue denim, off-the-shoulder top and sandals is my official "go-to-outfit" for the Summer. Whenever, I need to go somewhere that does not require dressing up, I always make sure my stack of denim and tops and graphic tees are within reach. Do you have your Summer wardrobe ready to go? Do not forget the hat and the sunglasses (My Sunglasses not pictured). Have a blessed week and talk to you again soon in my next Post.

The coolest Ruffle dress to wear this Summer

Happy Friday 😆 We are talking summer dresses on the blog today. These light weight printed dresses are trending this season and they are chic as chic can be. Some styles come with cold shoulders, mini ruffles and some are asymmetrical. Some are maxi while some are midi dresses. Sometimes, they are "mock-wrap" dresses. No matter the variation in the style, you would definitely recognize these dresses when you see them. They can be worn as everyday casual wear, worn to work on casual Fridays or even to special occasions.

Straw Clutches

The new trend in small bags

                                                 _______ Straw Clutches ________

There is a new trend in bags and you would see them a lot this summer. They are the very mini version of the straw bags we were toting everywhere last summer. They sometimes come with those playful adornments like tassels, pompoms and graphics and some just look like regular clutches with buckles and clasps and they can be printed and colorful. However, you only need to take one look at them to be able to tell right away, that they are organic bags. Below, I have rounded up some of my favorites and you can click on the links if you want to know more. Happy shopping.

My ruffled floral green summer dress

So, I have had this dress for years; purchased it from TJ Maxx but have only worn it a couple of times because I thought it was shapeless and unflattering. Fast forward to this season and this style of dress is trending; yes trending and I am here for it. I love dresses and I believe dresses are feminine and chic and whether they are floral, printed, plain, maxi, midi, there is a dress for every occasion. What is unique thing about this style of dress is the light fabric and the free flowing style and the small ruffles which can be on the dress bodice, at the hem or all over. It is great for spring and summer and for vacation to a warm location. I styled it with white pumps to add some contrast and white pumps are also the new neutrals. My ring purse is almost invisible against the dress but I'm sure you can still see it. I hope you are having a great week so far. Thanks a lot for stopping by.

The most comfy Pants to own this Summer

Hi everyone, happy Tuesday. Summer is right around the corner and it is time to get out our summer wardrobe and accessories. 'want to know the most comfortable pants to wear in the summer? Pick up a pair of khaki pants or chino pants and you are good to go. The khaki and chino pants (or shorts and skirts) are very popular in the summer time because of the light weight feel of the fabrics. Both fabrics are made of cotton and only differ by their weave of which the chino pants is of a tighter weave than the khaki pants. The fabrics are very breathable and hence very appropriate for the hot weather. The khaki pants were not so chic and attractive in times past but the latest designs of khaki pants with waist-tie belts and very close fits and even the paper bag trend has made khaki and chino pants to be very attractive. JCrew even came out with a very chic polka dots chino pants last season as can be seen here. The polka dots design and fit of the pants is just amazing.

How to style lilac for Work

The Lilac color is everywhere; you can't help not noticing the color trend. This is a quick post on how to style the trend for work. I purchased this pencil skirt from JCrew a few years back from the No. 2 Pencil skirt collection in double serge cotton. The skirt has a great fit and is very comfy. I paired it with a neck-bow-tie blouse from Loft and accessorized with this straw bag that I have been carrying all spring and nude pumps. The tip to styling lilac for work especially in a corporate work environment is to get one piece in the color; maybe a bottom piece like pants, culottes, or skirt or in a top like a blazer or a blouse. You can also do accessories like a pair of lilac shoes or a bag.

Wedding Style: Fascinators and Hats

Happy Saturday everyone 😄 This is a quick and very short post here. I started writing this post at about 3:00 AM just before the royal wedding started and I cried, clapped. sang and jumped for joy while watching the nuptials and at the same time editing and clipping pictures. Also, I have a wedding to attend in a couple of hours; what a day so far! If you have been following the royal wedding buzz, you would have seen these fancy accessories that I love and have been so excited about. Some call them Fancy Hats, Church hats, Hatinators, Kentucky Derby hats, Fascinators...whatever you call them, the bottom line is that they are very unique hair accessories that go with very proper, modest, lady like dressing. In most cases, they are paired with dresses and skirt suits but I have seen them paired with pantsuits before too and it looked great. The fuller or more covered pieces; that sit properly on the head are called hats while the less covered ones that are attached to head bands or hair clips are called fascinators. They are very popular in British weddings, formal ceremonies, church services, tea parties and even bridal showers. 'want to purchase one for your next fancy party and need help styling it? This is the post for you. Below are three stylish sets for the edgy guest. Happy shopping and styling.

Bermuda Shorts + Metallic Mules

Happy Friday everyone; I hope you all are as excited as I am for the weekend. There are so many reasons to be excited for this Saturday one of which is the Royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. I am so excited for both of them and wish them a fabulous union. I already set my alarm clock and would be up early to watch the ceremony in real time. Hubby thinks I am crazy but hey! 😂 It's not everyday that we get to hear about or witness real life Cinderella story. I have a wedding to attend with hubby tomorrow too and I'm thinking of styling a British themed outfit with a fascinator to match. I actually own a couple of fascinators as you can see on my IG here. You can also read the story on how and where I purchased them.

Headwrap + Denim Pastel Style

happy Thursday everyone. This is just a quick post here to show this casual outfit I wore recently. Somehow, I have developed a deep love for head wraps that I cannot really explain. I think the main reason is because I have this huge collection of scarfs just stored away in my closet and I figured I might put them to use by getting on this head wrap trend. In the past I never really liked wearing turbans and head wraps even when I had my dreadlocks. I only put my hair in wraps a few times but here we are 😉 Anyway, let me not bore you with all the behind-the-scenes gist.

So, I decided to style this colorful blue print scarf with my patch-work denim that I purchased from Loft a couple of summers ago. I must say what made this outfit stand out is the color theme; the baby blue pastel color. The blue in the scarf and the pumps add a pop of color to this casual outfit. Now that I am into bags as accessories, I completed the look with my straw clutch; an old purchase from JCrew. The straw clutch injects some neutral color tone and texture to the outfit. I wore it to visit some friends sans the pumps which I switched out for a pair of comfortable flats after taking these pictures. Thank you so much for stopping by here 😄

Summer Chic bags and how to style them 2

                                                               Circular and semi circular
                                                     Straw Bags...

Summer is fast approaching and it is time to reorganize the closet and get out the accessories as we should do at the beginning of every season. One of the popular accessory this summer is the circular or semi circular straw bag. These bags are different from the straw totes that were trending at this same time last year. If you are not sure what I mean, take a look at these bags here and here and here.  The straw bags are smaller this season and are more like satchels and little round bags and in some variation, they are square shaped. Instead of the graphics, pompoms and tassels that were on the straw bags last year, we will be seeing buckles and straps on straw bags this season like this design here. And if there are going to be pompoms, they would be smaller and dainty. Styling these circular bags

one more way to style denim on denim

Happy Tuesday everyone 😆 I hope the week started off great for you; mine has been beautiful so far. This is a quick post to show another way the denim on denim trend can be styled. I admit it is somewhat an outdated trend or let's just say it is a trend that never gets out of style but rather just stays in the background to be picked up anytime. So, I was styling this pastel look for the blog and I got out this denim pumps I have not worn in a while. I paired it with this color block tan sweater that I purchased from Loft a while back and ankle denim pants. the first choice would have been to pair tan color pumps with this outfit but the denim pumps added some interest to it. if you are tired of the

Yellow shorts suit + Polka dots

Happy Monday Friends; I hope you had a great Mother's day celebration. Mine was beautiful with lots of love and presents 😉 Hubs got me a cute designer bag and it is actually the second one I am getting from him so it looks like someone is trying to turn me into a "Bag Lady" hehehe 😆 The straw bag I'm carrying in this pic was gifted to me by my older Sis. over 8 years ago when straw bags were not even a thing and I am glad I took good care of it. It will certainly be in constant rotation this spring and summer. The short suit I have on here are separates and you can tell from the pictures that they are different shades. This is actually the way I like to style my suits and it's quite affordable for me too. I got the blazer from a thrift store for about $7 years ago and got the shorts from JCrew clearance sale for about $9 dollars a while back so you can see that this suit is less than $20. The

Vacation style: Pink knit dress + Denim Jacket

Happy Saturday Friends; so what are you up to? Are you ready for a vacation yet? I know I am but since I do not have one planned out yet, I'll be enjoying my lovely "staycation" this weekend. This casual outfit is exactly what I would love to wear for the perfect trip; whether by road or by air. The weather was a bit chilly yesterday when I wore this pink dress so the mock turtle neck was just right as it would be if  I was flying first class to Cancun; haha! 😂  Okay, day dreaming aside...

Floral dress + Tulle

Happy Thursday 😆 Mother's day is around the corner and it's that time of the year again for mothers to get that special attention that they actually deserve every single day because of all that they do. Since today is Thursday, I'm doing a throwback Thursday look to this dress I wore last year for Father's day! haha!! 😝 Yeah, I said Father's day. One of my friends had a surprise birthday party for her husband on Father's day last year and this is what I wore; this floral and tulle midi dress. The dress is a dupe or more affordable version of this MARCHESA dress here and I loved it so much when I saw it online that I bought it in two colors. I would be wearing the second dress this upcoming Mother's day and will do a blog post on it too. This is the navy blue version of the dress. Can you guess what the color of the other dress is?

You see, I got my Mothers' day dress since last year because the site had a sale and I wanted to get the most bargain and that is really what Mothers do all the time. We try to get the most discounts to help our hubbies and Families get the best in life. We are up early taking care of the kids and our various households. Even those ladies that are single, choose to be single. not yet married....are still strong women doing the most they can in the role that God has bestowed on them as women. Please, take a minute to pause and take care of yourself Ladies. And a very big  "Happy Mothers' day" to you all.

Spring trend: Pastels

So, "Pastels" is a huge trend this spring and just to refresh our memory; Wikipedia defines Pastels as; "Colors that are desaturated or washed out and lacking strong chromatic content. They are usually very soft and include almost all neutral colors, pink, baby blues and light blues, mauve, lilac, light browns, khakis, yellow, creams..." you get the idea. To tell you the truth, the pastels rave is so big this season with stylists putting their different twists on it and I had to google it for myself to make sure I really got it right;  then I went in my closet and did some editing and this is the first of the pastel outfits I am styling for spring here on the blog.

The first option is always flowers and a greeting card either handmade or industrial with a heartfelt message of love and appreciation. After the flowers come the dainty gifts; jewelry, fragrance, bags, shoes and even cash or gift cards to spas, for dinning, house cleaning...just name it. there is practically a gift card for most services

Spring Outfit inspiration

                                  Mustard color Sleeveless Coat
                                     How to style...

I promise this would be my last cold weather outfit inspiration on here for this season; haha! 😅  It is all about transition outfits for me presently. This is the right time to get out all the sleeveless coats, vests, shirt dresses, dusters, kimonos...just name it. Personally, I would not jump straight from winter apparel to spring apparel just like that. I have got to prepare my body and soul to slowly adjust to the change in temperature and/or weather. This sleeveless mustard color coat here is a chic piece to update and or refresh any spring

Grey maxi skirt + black cowl neck Sweater

Happy Wednesday everyone 😆 It's supposed to be spring, right? I know you would be surprised to see boots and a sweater on a fashion blog at this time of the year but hey, I live in Minnesota or where we fondly call "Minne-snow-ta" because of our harsh and long winter. So, while the most of the U.S. has been celebrating and enjoying spring for a while, we just left our winter behind us days ago. Presently, it's starting to warm up but still gets a little cold in
