Grey Monochrome Styling: Long Coat + Clear Bag
Happy Monday everyone; this another monochrome styling on the blog today just like the one I did here. This time, I'm doing an all grey monochromatic look that is suitable to wear to work any day this season. I know it is spring already but it is still cold here; cold enough to keep putting on layers. Here, I wore a grey color turtle neck sweater over grey color pants and this pants are really comfy; an old purchase from Macy's. The statement piece in this outfit is this long grey coat which I donned on more for style than for warmth because I was already dressed warm with the sweater. And as usual, this is one of the coats I got from the consignment store. It is a pre-owned 100% wool coat that would sell for hundreds of dollars new, at the retail store but I got it for less than a hundred bucks. This plaid transparent bag tote that I blogged about here completed the look along with this V-style slip on booties. This look is suitable for work and any other formal event on a very cold day. What have you been up to? Thanks so much for stopping by here 😆

7 Years Blog Anniversay and my tip for re-styling an old strapless dress
![]() |
So, it is my seven years blog anniversary; I started this blog in March 2012 as a therapeutic hobby and I have enjoyed the journey every bit of the way. Owning a fashion blog has helped me grow so much in my personal and social life and believe me when I tell you that it takes a lot of discipline to run a blog of any sort; whether you own one for business or financial reasons or for pleasure. When you are consistent with your blog posts, you start to see your blog as a "friend" or "a part of your family," so to speak. As a fashion blogger, you keep an eye out for trends, you plan outfits for the blog, take pictures, do photo editing and blog designs and layouts and then lots and lots of writing and editing. Blogging is basically supposed to be a full time job of its own and if you do not love it or have a passion for it, you cannot do it for long. I am happy I started this blog; I am happy for the therapy it brought me over the years and the patience and discipline it has taught me and I am thankful for all the amazing blogger friends I've made along the way. This blog is still a hobby and I do not run it for profit or financial reasons and I'm grateful for the independence and freedom I get for running it on my own terms.

Grey Sweater + Purple Pleat Skirt
The last time I wore this purple pleat skirt on the blog was about four years ago and you can see the previous blog post here. I love the pop of color that the skirt brings to an outfit and the skirt is one of my favorites because it was designed by me. I went to the fabric store and picked the pleated fabric myself and I got all the bold bright colors I could find. There was deep red which I also made into a pleat skirt and you can see it here in this post and there was also lime green color pleat fabric that I also made into another pleat skirt and I blogged about it here. And I still have teal and black color pleat fabric at home that I haven't made into any piece yet. I am still trying to decide what style to create with them. The pleats on this skirt fabric is the very tiny knife pleats and since the fabric is a little heavy and the pleats very tight, the skirt is not flowy; just exactly what I wanted when I decided to make this skirt; a heavy pleat maxi skirt appropriate to wear in the cold weather months. And when I say make, I never really made these skirts myself; I found a seamstress and told her exactly what I wanted; three maxi pleat skirts and she had them made for me.

Green Dupioni Midi Dress + Ankle Boots
Happy Monday Friends; in keeping with my new year goals to buy less and style more, I'm restyling this green dupioni midi dress from my closet. It's a dress I got through a collaboration with eShakti years ago and I have styled it previously on the blog here and here. Each time I style the dress by switching up my accessories, it always feels like I have on a new dress or outfit. The first time, I wore it with leopard print pumps and a statement jewelry for a very simple look. I layered a black sweater and knee boots with it the second time. And yesterday I decided to layer a black turtle neck sweater underneath to wear to church. I cinched the waist with an embellished Asos belt similar to this and completed the look with my Altuzarra ankle boots and Nine West snake print bag. The weather was very cold so I wore a pair of black stockings with the look. It was a very windy and cloudy day yesterday and the dress does look different in every pic mostly because of the dupioni fabric and iridescent texture that makes it look different based on how the sun or light hits it. The wind also whipped up snow and tossed it on me; I must say it was a fun shoot yesterday after church.

Plaid Blazer + Belt Bag
Happy Monday; I hope your week started off great. My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives at the Pittsburg Synagogue shooting; such a senseless act. There is so much wickedness and evil spewing out of people these days but we cannot sit down and let it thrive. We have to double up on our love to counteract all the negativity. We should love on people, help people in times of need and pray; pray for ourselves and others. And off course, we have to give money too to help those in need. When you know God has blessed you or placed you somewhere where you know you can give a helping hand, go ahead and help.

The Pant Suit: Closet essential
The Pant suit has become an "essential" in a trendy lady's closet; dressed up or down, it is one outfit that is very versatile. When you own a two-piece pantsuit, you can wear it as it is to work, to meetings, to church, brunch, seminars and even weddings to mention a few. You can also break down the two piece by pairing the blazer with other clothing items in your closet. A blazer can be layered over a dress to wear to pretty much any event or it can be paired with a white button down and a pair of denim for a classy casual look. The pants in the two piece can also be paired with a lot of items in your closet and this versatility in dressing makes the pant suit a needed clothing essential. Another reason is just the classy and "boss look" of the pant suit and this is why the pink pant suit was chosen as the theme look for today's post.

Floral tulle lace dress + Straw Clutch
Hi everyone, happy Friday 😀 I hope the week has been going great for you. This is a very quick post here showing this tulle dress I wore for Mother's Day this year and also to my friend's 40th birthday celebration a couple of weeks ago. I wore a similar dress last year to a different birthday party and I blogged about it here This dress here along with the blue color piece are the only tulle dresses I own. Remember when tulle skirts and dresses was a huge trend in 2015 and 2016? I loved the trend so much and looked out for a grown-up way to wear it since it was more popular with the millennial and twenty-somethings 😂 I got my wish in this dress; very chic and fun in my opinion. I accessorized the dress with a straw clutch from J. Crew Factory which has since sold out and this lovely pair of wine colored sandals from Go Jane. The sandals are so comfy, chic and affordable that I purchased them in the champagne and purple color. What plans do you have for the weekend? 'like I mentioned in my previous post, Ill be busy organizing my fall and winter closet for myself and other members of my family. Thank you so much for stopping by here; have a blessed weekend.

Olive color Dress + orange color Slides
Hello 😊 This is just a quick post here sharing one of my simple casual outfits I wore this summer. I have had this dress for ever; I purchased it from TJ Maxx years ago and I just like the uniqueness the dress brings to my closet because of its color. The olive green color is different and the fabric of the dress is soft and comfy. This is a dress I wear around at home and to make a quick dash to the store so, it is nothing fancy. However, I dressed it up by adding fun accessories like this straw hat, the cool satin orange slides from Target and this embroidered woven bag I got from the thrift store. Woven bags and/or beaded bags are the new fashion wave for Fall. Again, you do not have to spend tons of money on any trending piece that you do not know would be around for a long time. Just check out local fashion boutiques in your neighborhood, Easy Store, Amazon or the thrift store for an affordable version of the trend. Another way to go is to check brands and stores like Forever 21, Asos and Toyshop for affordable versions of the trend.

How to style: Statement Sandals
Statement Pieces..
Skirt: Here // Tee: similar // Sandals: Here // Bag: Here
Happy Wednesday 😆 So, summer is almost here and what better time to get out the sandals and the tee shirts than now. These sets are styled around the statement sandals blogged about here. The sandals is so beautiful and chic and the basic way to style it to make it stand out, would be pairing it with understated pieces. However, with these sets here, the risk taking fashionista can pair the sandals with other statement pieces like the skirts, tees and bags featured in these three sets and would not look overwhelmed. This is exactly what style is. It is being able to put pieces together in an unusual way to create a pleasing aesthetic. What do you think of the styling?

Spring trend: Pastels
So, "Pastels" is a huge trend this spring and just to refresh our memory; Wikipedia defines Pastels as; "Colors that are desaturated or washed out and lacking strong chromatic content. They are usually very soft and include almost all neutral colors, pink, baby blues and light blues, mauve, lilac, light browns, khakis, yellow, creams..." you get the idea. To tell you the truth, the pastels rave is so big this season with stylists putting their different twists on it and I had to google it for myself to make sure I really got it right; then I went in my closet and did some editing and this is the first of the pastel outfits I am styling for spring here on the blog.

Grey maxi skirt + black cowl neck Sweater
Happy Wednesday everyone 😆 It's supposed to be spring, right? I know you would be surprised to see boots and a sweater on a fashion blog at this time of the year but hey, I live in Minnesota or where we fondly call "Minne-snow-ta" because of our harsh and long winter. So, while the most of the U.S. has been celebrating and enjoying spring for a while, we just left our winter behind us days ago. Presently, it's starting to warm up but still gets a little cold in

Mauve color top + Burgundy Culottes
Hi everyone 😚 I hope you all had a wonderful week. It's Friday! woot!! woot!!! I'm going to make this post very short. So, I wore this outfit in the fall and I'm just blogging about it now. Although the color palette is more suited for fall especially the burgundy color culottes, the outfit still works for this Spring. I'm sure you all know by now that pastels are a huge trend this spring. Well, I got the mauve color top and culottes pant from Loft a while back and it's actually my first pair of culottes. I was a little skeptical of the trend and was not sure if it would be right for me but I later fell in love with it and I am glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. Culottes are easy breezy and super fun.
The pairing of the mauve top and burgundy culottes was a hit for me. I feel like the two colors exude joy and playfulness. . The two colors also go well together in a somewhat monochrome look. If you do not like or enjoy wearing pink colors, the color mauve

Sweater dress and plaid coat
Well, plaid blazers and coats have been trending since Fall and that is not to say that it is a new trend. This print; check, plaid has been around for ages. I recently went through my closet and brought out all my plaid pieces and that is how this outfit came about. I have had this plaid coat for a long time and also the sweater dress which is an old purchase from Victoria's Secret. Sweater dresses are definitely Fall essentials and so is the color grey and

Pink coat + floral flats
Hi everyone 😁 The year is quickly coming to an end; can you believe it? We made it this far and we will make it across to 2018 in Jesus name; Amen! I designed this sweatshirt I paired with my jean off of the Custom ink website years ago and the graphics on the sweat shirt reads; "My God is super cool." At that time, there were not lots of inspirational/graphic tees around but right now, they are everywhere and if you are someone like me who loves graphic tees for casual wear, you would celebrate the classic graphic tee because it is just timeless and it is a trend that you can wear

Sleeveless Coat + Denim
Hello everyone 😆 I hope you have fully transitioned from Fall to Winter. It's not snowing over here yet and the weather has actually been very beautiful with just occasional chilly mornings. I'm glad I do not have to get out my heavy coats just yet. So, it was on one of such cold mornings last week that I put on this sleeveless coat I have had for years. It is such a great pop of color. I paired it with a black color cable knit sweater and a pair of dark blue denim trouser and ankle boots. Cable knit sweaters are a little heavier and more cozy than regular sweaters and are great for the winter months; paired with the sleeveless coat, I felt very warm and cozy. This look is great for casual Fridays in the winter time and totally cool when you can do different color variants of it; like camel color sleeveless coat, light wash denim and white top like I styled here in this Post.

Red Sweat shirt + Red trouser = LOVE
How is everyone doing? 'just a quick post here. I know we are all trying to get our thanksgiving turkey ready 😆 What is the outfit you would wear at this time of the year to run errands as you shop for the holidays? If you have been following my casual style on the blog then you would know by now that for me, casual style means a graphic tee or in this case graphic sweatshirt. I got this in this red color and also in black last summer and it is supposed to be an off-the-shoulder sweat shirt but I got it in a smaller size so as to get a different fit. I paired the sweat shirt with my red wide leg pants for a monochrome look. I must say here that I did not go shopping with four-inch heels boots. I wore flats to go shopping and just wore this boots for the photo shoot. Haha! full disclaimer...😜 I love

Work Style: Plaid blazer + red Pants
Hi everyone, just a quick post here; I'm wearing one of my plaid blazers; you really have to squint to really see the plaid print on this particular blazer because the plaid print is not as bold as the current trending plaid. This is one of my thrifted collection of blazers from over the years. Thrifting is a hobby I engage in every once in a while and as a result, I have so many blazers in several colors and patterns, dry cleaned and ready to be styled in my closet. This is why I say you do not have to spend tons on money in achieving a great style. A blazer is a basic that can be paired with most basics in our closet; dresses, denim, skirts.... For this look, I paired a pair of red color pants with this plaid blazer and a white tee and tan pumps completed the look.
My focus is not on this outfit though. I am thinking of the new iPhone 8 and iPhone x release last month and I'm eagerly waiting to have mine. I have had this iPhone 6 for a while and it's not doing it's best function anymore. By the way, All of the pictures on this blog for the past three years are iPhone 6 pictures taken by my young kids and though

White sweater + Grey Pants
The old Fashion rule says "do not wear white color clothing after Memorial day holiday" but no one adheres to that anymore. You can wear white whenever you want even in the snow. While it has not snowed yet in my city, it certainly has been cold and all my sweaters are out but the heavy, long coats are still hanging pretty in the closet; not time for those yet. So, I wore this outfit a few days ago; white cowl neck sweater over grey

Fall Color-block Style
Happy Saturday everyone; I'm so excited today; just a couple days to my birthday. I am really grateful to God for his blessings on my life. My life is not perfect, I don't have everything I think I need or want but I am grateful. I am thankful for life and I am happy in life. God's word says; "in every thing, give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." (I Thessalonians 5:18) I am very thankful for this blog and I appreciate the fact that it's my safe space where I can share whatever I want to share. Here, I am able to talk about the three things I love and am passionate about; Faith, Family and Fashion.
Now unto this outfit; I decided to style a color-block look with Fall basic essentials; a sweater, denim or in this case, corduroy pants, a hat and a pair of boots. It's Saturday and the best outfit to chill or run errands in are the basics. I'm loving blue as a Fall color this season because the hue creates an unexpected pop of color to the usual earthly tones and shades around. The best way in making this color work is by incorporating it into your item through one piece; a hat, a sweater, a bag or if you are more daring; your shoes. The recent trend I have been seeing is the "blue velvet boots." It is very chic and edgy when paired with dresses and pleated
