Neon Pantsuit + green heels

Pantsuits have always been my favorite style of clothing because they are easy to style and equally very versatile. You can wear a pantsuit to just about any event these days and the pieces in the set can be restyled with other items in our closet. I purchased this green set from JCPenney about three years ago and was just waiting for the right time or season to wear it and now green and neon is trending.

I styled my pantsuit with a green floral blouse and green heels. The green straw bag is an old thrifted piece. I look forward to restyling this suit in so many ways in the future. If you need a tip on where to shop for affordable suits and tailoring pieces, check out Asos and JCPenney. Thanks for reading.

Brown Pantsuit + Square toe Sandals

I love pantsuits a lot and I think I have them in every color by now. This light brown set is my latest addition and as usual, I decided to style a monochrome look. I wore this outfit to Church a few Sundays ago; the square toe Sandals and faux fur bags added some interest to the monochromatic look. I always say; "texture-mixing" is the key to styling a monochrome look because without the bag and woven sandals, this outfit would be totally boring. This Steve Madden Shearling bag that I previously blogged about here is my "go to" bag this Fall. So far, the weather has been great in my neck of the woods and I hope it is same wherever you are. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Pink Pantsuit + Pink bow blouse

It's no secret that I love pantsuits and blazers. I just love the versatility in styling and wear. I like that pantsuits can be worn as one outfit, the blazer can be paired with other pieces and the pant can be styled with other pieces in my closet too. So, you always save a lot of money when you buy a two piece suit especially if you love corporate style.

I styled this hot pink pantsuit to wear to Church weeks ago; paired the suit with a pink bow blouse I purchased from Zara a while back and square toe Sandals. I really love the bold pink color and big bow on this blouse and I look forward to styling it with jeans and a pair of slides next time. My styling is always so simple and I hope you think so too. Thanks so much for reading.

Blazer + Denim: Add some color to your style this Spring

Are you looking into adding some color into your spring wardrobe yet? Spring is always about colors and light pieces. The color I am addig to my wardrobe this year is purple or lavender. I have always loved purple and have added so many pieces into my wardrobe over the years. Now, it's all about mixing amd matching my pieces and accessories.

All black Outfit + Combat boots and reminding us of God's special Love

n all black outfit is the easiest to put together; just pull textures in different fabrics like leather, lace or knits like I did here in a previous post or put on an all black outfit and accessorize with fun accessories like I did here in this post. You won't believe it guys, I wore this outfit to Church on a Sunday! 😀 I was surprised myself too!! If you know me, I like to dress up real girlie for Church with stiletto pumps and all that on Sundays but I don't mind a casual look for the Wednesday, mid-week services. So, on this particular Sunday, I wanted to wear a different look; the snow was starting to melt and everywhere outdoors was all wet and slushy so I decided to wear my new pair of combat boots blogged about here.

Denim + Neon

Neon might just be one of my favorite color this season, second to lilac or purple. I am looking forward to styling it as a pop of color for most of my looks this summer. And looking back on the blog and into my closet, I found out that I have styled a couple of neon looks over the years and my closet does have a good number of neon or lime green pieces. One way I intend to style the color this season, is by pairing it with denim as I did here in this throwback photo. The denim on denim look is a classic when it comes to styling casual style and a good way of making the style your own is with the use of accessories. I paired my denim blazer with a fitted pair of denim pants and a black tee and felt the outfit needed a statement piece; so then came the statement piece or accessory, the neon sandals. I love the way the entire outfit turned out; simple and elegant, in my opinion. To see the full original post of this denim look, check it out here and thanks so much for stopping by.

The Pant Suit: A Closet Essential and how to shop for an affordable Set

Pant Suits have been a classic for a very long time and when any fashion piece is a classic, it is not even regarded as a trend anymore. it is way past a trend; It is a wardrobe essential, a staple that every woman should have in their closet and that is the story of the pant suit. I have had this black pant suit for a while now and it is actually separates; a different blazer and pair of black pant paired together to create this pantsuit look previously blogged about here. This spring and summer, pantsuits would be a huge trend and if you do not own one yet, you can check out Asos Website where you can find different styles and colors of pantsuits at affordable price point.

Another tip for shopping for pant suits is by buying the blazer and bottom separately but you really have to take great care to match the blazer to the bottom as much as possible. I purchased most of my pantsuits this way and was able to save money by the mix and match buying and styling. I love the thrill of hunting for the perfect bottom for my blazers. And since most of them are thrifted for less than $10, I'm able to get a good pantsuit for less than $50. If styling (mix and match) is not necessarily your thing and you do not mind splurging on a new pantsuit for over a hundred dollars, then go ahead and check out some of my favorite picks from Asos below.

Holiday Lookbook: Blazer + Faux fur Stole

Happy Thursday Friends 😃 I'm here today with another holiday look; a casual outfit featuring holiday accessories. Most of the time, we ladies, spend too much money buying new outfits for the holiday season when we have a closet full of clothes and I must say I am guilty of this too. I always feel like I need something new and do not want to wear my last holiday season outfits again this year. This time, I decided to reduce the stress of shopping for new outfits (although I have my eyes on this beautiful skirt here)  to put new holiday outfits together from pieces and accessories that I already own in my closet and that is how this look came about. This outfit is a look you can wear to casual holiday parties; you know the one that is not so formal; maybe a Christmas party hosted by your friends or an after work Christmas dinner with your co-workers. The foundation for this outfit; a blazer, a pair of blue denim and a white top are clothes or pieces that we already own in our closet. I used holiday or special occasion accessories; the sparkly belt, silver metallic heels, a faux fur stole and sequin metallic clutch to add a holiday touch to the outfit. The statement earrings were purchased on sale at Target over the summer and the statement belt was purchased from Asos and blogged about here. What other casual holiday event do you think this outfit is appropriate for? I think if you switch out the denim for regular dress pants, this outfit would definitely go to several events and even to a very special place, the Church. Thank you so much for stopping by.

Leopard Prints Sandals + Red belt bag

So, the leopard prints trend seems not to be going anywhere and I have got no problem with it. The style or trend is more interesting this season because it is being styled in fresh new ways than it has ever been; beautiful clothing pieces with great silhouettes, draping, blazers, pants, dresses...Another styling trend is the different hue or shades of the print. I like white color leopard prints trend like the blazer I wore in my previous post here and the calf hair pumps I wore in this post  here. For this look, I combined two trends; a pair of calf hair sandals; an old purchase from Macys and a belt bag which is actually a DIY piece. I tucked in the straps into the bag, left the bag open and sneaked it behind a red belt I used to cinch my waist then shut the bag close with the clasp. I took some pictures of the process and would do a post on it some other time. My aim on this blog from now on is to share more money saving tips and affordable fashion. Can I say again that this off white blazer was thrifted years ago? The turtle neck short sleeve sweater is an old purchase from Nordstrom and a similar style is currently on sale for 50% at Boohoo.

Red Pant Suit + Leopard Prints Shirt

It's no secret that red complements leopard prints beautifully; they are like a match made in heaven. I had not worn this red pant suit in a long time but the recent trend in leopard prints made me dig into my closet for the pant and the blazer which are separates by the way. The pants are an old purchase from the Victorias Secret Body by Victoria collection via the catalogue (such a great fit and quality) and the red oversized blazer is an old thrift find. The two pieces cost less than a $100. I remember getting the red pants on sale for about $69.99 and the blazer cost about $6.99 and the quality of the blazer is great too. These days, a good quality two-piece suit would set you back between $150-$300.

The right floral dress to wear in the fall

If you are like me, you own a couple of floral dresses that you would like to wear the whole year through and thanks to layering, you can wear your floral dresses throughout the year. However, not all floral dresses are suited for fall. The tip to wearing floral dresses in the fall is to wear floral dresses in dark hues or earthly colors like brown, burgundy, rust, orange, grey, mustard, emerald green....some of these colors are in my floral dress which I purchased on sale from Target  during the summer. Bold colors like red and blue can also be suitable for fall. I am loving  this blue maxi dress here. Once you have the right floral dress picked out based on the shade or color, you just style it with the temperature or weather in mind.

Fall Fashion Essentials: The blazer and ankle boots

We can't talk about fall fashion without listing all the closet essentials that not only keep us warm and comfy but are also good transition pieces as we get ready for the winter. My essential items for fall transition weather is a well structured blazer and a good pair of ankle boots. The blazer is an absolute must in everyone's closet; guys or ladies alike. You can layer it over any clothing all year round and if do not own a blazer before now, you can start by buying a black color or any neutral good quality blazer that can go with most colors in your closet. Another closet essential is the ankle boots. You can pair it with dresses, denim, dress pants and skirts and the versatility in styling is just endless. I must say that the ankle boots is more versatile than the knee or thigh boots because the later is not as versatile. The knee or thigh high boots would not pair with as much clothing items as the ankle boots in my opinion.

The Pant Suit: Closet essential

The Pant suit has become an "essential" in a trendy lady's closet; dressed up or down, it is one outfit that is very versatile. When you own a two-piece pantsuit, you can wear it as it is to work, to meetings, to church, brunch, seminars and even weddings to mention a few. You can also break down the two piece by pairing the blazer with other clothing items in your closet. A blazer can be layered over a dress to wear to pretty much any event or it can be paired with a white button down and a pair of denim for a classy casual look. The pants in the two piece can also be paired with a lot of items in your closet and this versatility in dressing makes the pant suit a needed clothing essential. Another reason is just the classy and "boss look" of the pant suit and this is why the pink pant suit was chosen as the theme look for today's post.

My July 4th Outfit

Hi Friends 😀 I trust you had a stylish and exciting July 4th Celebration yesterday. This outfit is what I wore at the later part of the day to attend Mid-Week Church Service. My Family drove to Wisconsin which is a couple of hours away from where I live in Minnesota and we spent some hours in the country, had picnic on the farm and did some sight seeing in Stillwater, a city on the Minnesota-Wisconsin border I had not explored before. It was a fun road trip and the kids had so much fun. For the trip, I wore a pair of distressed denim shorts, this striped oversized tee I purchased from Victorias Secret a long time ago and completed the look with my white sneakers. I changed from the denim shorts into this denim for Church and threw a blue blazer over the look. When we left Church, we ended up at a Family barbecue where we ended the day with great food and fireworks. How did your own day go?

Work Style: Plaid blazer + red Pants

Hi everyone, just a quick post here; I'm wearing one of my plaid blazers; you really have to squint to really see the plaid print on this particular blazer because the plaid print is not as bold as the current trending plaid. This is one of my thrifted collection of blazers from over the years. Thrifting is a hobby I engage in every once in a while and as a result, I have so many blazers in several colors and patterns, dry cleaned and ready to be styled in my closet. This is why I say you do not have to spend tons on money in achieving a great style. A blazer is a basic that can be paired with most basics in our closet; dresses, denim, skirts.... For this look, I paired a pair of red color pants with this plaid blazer and a white tee and tan pumps completed the look.

My focus is not on this outfit though. I am thinking of the new iPhone 8 and iPhone x release last month and I'm eagerly waiting to have mine. I have had this iPhone 6 for a while and it's not doing it's best function anymore. By the way, All of the pictures on this blog for the past three years are iPhone 6 pictures taken by my young kids and though

Orange blazer and graphic tee

Okay, another graphic tee casual look here; this time paired with an orange color blazer which is not a common color in my opinion. I have a couple of orange color blazers and look forward to styling them in more fun ways in the fall. I paired my blazer with my dark blue denim trousers and low heel sandals for a very laid back look. The graphics on my tee says; "tres chic;" which is a French word for "cute" I presume. I got the tee from

Blog Anniversary and Olive colors

Happy Tuesday Friends and happy 5 years blog anniversary to me. My blog turned 5 last week and I'm really happy and grateful to God that I'm still here doing what I love. This blog was started in 2012 as a hobby and an outlet for me to express my love for writing and Art. It was and has always been a personal (public) journal of mine and has been very therapeutic. I have grown better over the years and have made great friends through blogging. I have also learned a lot too. I am celebrating my anniversary today with a throwback to some of my unusual color combination posts; the khaki and olive color combo. And like I always say; I am not a stylist or professional blogger so, I am not teaching anyone how to dress here but just showing my own personal styles and how I have fun with trends and my styling boards or Fashion Mood Boards. I have also been showing my love for God and my Christian faith and sharing scriptures along the way which is very fulfilling for me.

Mustard Color Blazer

Happy Friday Friends and happy month off November. I believe the Fall season is underway in most cities in America but my city, Minneapolis is still enjoying gorgeous summer-like weather. This is a very happy development for most people that live here in Minneapolis, Minnesota because it means we have fewer months of Winter to deal with. Our winter can be brutal Friends; so any beautiful warm weather we get, we enjoy it to the fullest. The Fall boots and trench coats are not out yet in full force over here in my neck of the woods.

This post features one of my most colorful blazers paired over a pair of gingham pants; a look I wore a few weeks ago. Mustard color screams Fall and it is a great color to wear at this time of the year. What do you think off the pairing and do you own any piece in this color? I'll love to know what other colors you think can be paired with this blazer; hunter green, burgundy...?

Birthday Selfie

Velvet blazers HERE

Hi Friends; such a late post I know but I have been busy, busy, busy!...Lol. It's my birthday today and I decided to post a selfie instead of my usual work "wear Monday" post. I am wearing a velvet blazer which is a huge trend right now and I accessorized my blazer with a sticker; "I voted." So, one of the fun things I did on my birthday was to go cast a ballot in a general election; ha! ha!!

I thank God for the wonderful gifts he has bestowed on me and this blog is one of them and I thank God for you too for stopping by here. Thanks a lot for your support and your thoughts and comments.

Again, "Stripes" says hi

It is stripes day again and this time, there is a dash of color with this red blazer which is also one of many reds. I just discovered recently that almost every blazer in my closet has a twin. In a way, it is good because then I do not have to wear out a particular blazer since I wear them a lot. It is time too to get all the pumps and sandals out of the closet. I wore socks for months due to the cold weather and it feels good to finally give my feet a break. I'm looking forward to some relaxing pedicures soon. Time to get ready for the summer.

I'm so glad that the situation in Baltimore is slowing getting under control. It is amazing to know too that churches and the Baltimore symphony orchestra got together to help in calming down so many nerves. The prayers and thoughts continue. And sometimes when we pray, we do not get answers to our prayers or the intended outcome we wanted but this does not mean that God is not God anymore. He is God no matter the situation. Prayers give us the faith, courage and strength to face and deal with any situation.

Blazer: thrifted

That is the musing for the day. Now, I have to go and do the final editing to my quarterly summary post. Thanks so much for visiting. I wish you a great new month in advance.
