Christmas Outfit Inspiration: Plaid skirt + Sequin Heels

A plaid skirt can only be worn in the fall and winter season in my opinion especially if you are of a certain age. I put this look together as a work outfit for the holidays in a previous Blog Post here. It is a look that is appropriate if you work in a corporate setting. I paired this blue and red plaid skirt with a blue blazer and completed the outfit with a brown tote bag, blue sequin heels and a long blue coat.

Long Coat + grey monochrome look

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you have seen this look before along with the looks in my previous posts. Yes, I am currently recycling my old posts. It is almost the end of the year, and I suddenly remembered that I did not update my blog as much this year. The weather has been cold and cloudy as usual in Minneapolis and I have not been able to take new pictures outdoors hence the old pictures. That is okay though because I usually publish "throw-back blog posts" on my blog at the end of the year anyways.

Grey tones for Fall and Winter

We cannot talk about Fall and Winter style without talking about the color grey. There is something about this shade of color that make the cold season style/fashion very appealing. Grey color can be paired with burgundy, white, black, red, blue and yellow or orange; basically, earth tones. It's one of my favorite colors to wear in the winter season along with burgundy which is also known as wine color, cherry or Bordeaux color.

Neutral color Work Outfit and a pop of Animal Print!

The saying that fashion (trend) is cyclical is so true this season. I have always known that leopard print fashion was going to be back in fashion (after it was a huge trend years ago) but I never expected it to be back with a bang. When you go to shopping instore or online, you are going to see leopard print pieces and accessories everywhere. These pictures are actually a throwback from the Blog post I published years ago HERE. It was a look I styled in 2019.

Burgundy color monochrome work outfit

Burgundy is a color that has been trending for a while now and it happens to be one of my favorite colors that I have enjoyed styling for years especially in the fall and winter months. For this look, I am wearing a monochrome look; a long-sleeved burgundy sweater over burgundy color corduroy pants that I got from LOFT a while ago. I threw my boucle, tweed-like coat over the outfit and completed the look with black accessories.

Green Dress + brown ankle boots

Green is low key one of my favorite colors and it's one reason why this knit dress is still in my closet. I have had it for years and wear it on repeat at this time of the year; the spring season. Hey! ladies, there is nothing wrong with wearing your outfits/pieces over and over again. It's your outfit, you paid for it; so restyle and wear it as many times as you want! This green dress was previously styled here! 👌 just popping in here to say hi. Thanks so much for reading.

Purple Coat + Lavender Pantsuit

Hello dear,  how are you doing today? I hope great. Are you ready for spring yet? Have you organized your pastels, pantsuits, dresses and shorts yet? It is transitional dressing for me at this time so I still need my coats because you know where I live....our temps is still very high over here in Minnesota so a jacket is still needed especially in the mornings and evenings.

What to wear to work the week before Christmas

Christmas is a few days away and I can still feel the buzz about the holiday even amidst the pandemic. If you are an essential worker who goes to work away from home and you need some inspiration on what to wear to work this week, think no further. This is the time to get out your plaids: skirts, pants, scarfs or coats. It is also the time to get out your glitter pumps. If you work in a corporate setting, a modest length plaid skirt is a great piece of clothing to wear to work this season. Also, replace your nude color shoes or pumps with a pair of sparkly or glitter pumps. And do not forget the coat. A great color coat of very good quality is a must-have for this season too. For the casual style of this look, check out this post here. Thanks so much for reading.

Orange color coat + Getting into the Christmas spirit

What a unique year it has been and I bet everyone is eagerly waiting for the last day of the year to roll by. In as much as I want the year to roll away, I definitely do not want to do away with Christmas. Christmas season is just my favorite time of the year and my favorite holiday. I would still be celebrating this year but would be celebrating safely. So, there would be no Christmas parties this year just family celebration at home.  To get into the Christmas spirit, I'm doing most of my Christmas tradition which includes decorating the house and buying of gifts for loved ones. What about you; did you get into the Christmas spirit yet? How are you celebrating the holiday this year?

Long Brown Coat + Brown Accessories and How to stay happy while social distancing

Ħappy Monday Friends. It's another week, another Monday and where do I even begin? The world is at a different place and history is happening right in front of our eyes; very bad history. The Coronavirus Pandemic is like a Hollywood horror movie happening right before our eyes. There would have been so much excitement about spring right now and everyone trying to enjoy the outdoors because we all have been hibernating in the winter time but we cannot do that; we cannot run around outdoors enjoying the warmer weather. Everyone has to do some social distancing at this time to stop the spread of  this virus and flatten the curve and with this, I say happy Monday again.

The most trendy print of the Season

եhe zebra print or tiger print is a major trend this season and you can wear the print any how and any way you want; coats, tops, shoes...The general notion is that animal prints pieces or clothing can be a bit overwhelming if not styled the right way so, it is important to find a balance when you are shopping for this trend. A zebra print coat can make a huge statement and elevate any style; just make sure you pair it with neutrals or nudes like in the collage above. This way, the coat is the main focus of the outfit and does not need to clash with other pieces. Add a touch of red to the outfit in the form of an accessory and you would achieve an edgy, glam look. Happy viewing, happy styling.

White teddy coat + White knit dress + Styling trends

The teddy bear coat has been trending for a while now and I have had this off white teddy coat in my closet in ages along with this off white sweater dress that I have styled on this blog so many times, first time in this blog post. And just an aside; it is very important for us to take care of whatever belongs to us, but not in a selfish way though. Let go of things you need to let go off and take care of the things you need to keep. I took care of this beautiful knit dress I purchased from Victorias' Secret over ten years ago and that is why I still have it in my closet today.

Grey Monochrome Styling: Long Coat + Clear Bag

Happy Monday everyone; this another monochrome styling on the blog today just like the one I did here. This time, I'm doing an all grey monochromatic look that is suitable to wear to work any day this season. I know it is spring already but it is still cold here; cold enough to keep putting on layers. Here, I wore a grey color turtle neck sweater over grey color pants and this pants are really comfy; an old purchase from Macy's. The statement piece in this outfit is this long grey coat which I donned on more for style than for warmth because I was already dressed warm with the sweater. And as usual, this is one of the coats I got from the consignment store. It is a pre-owned 100% wool coat that would sell for hundreds of dollars new, at the retail store but I got it for less than a hundred bucks. This plaid transparent bag tote that I blogged about here completed the look along with this V-style  slip on booties. This look is suitable for work and any other formal event on a very cold day. What have you been up to? Thanks so much for stopping by here 😆

How to Style: Camel Coat and Leopard print Slingbacks

Now that Spring is here, it is time to ditch the boots for sandals, open toed shoes and slingbacks. If you need inspiration on how to slowly incorporate these style of shoes into your wardrobe, this outfit inspiration is for you. In the look above, the leopard print slingbacks is the statement piece in the set because it complements the camel coat nicely and still stands on its own. Now if you do not know exactly what slingbacks are, this is a lesson for you. "A slingback is a style of shoes that is closed in front and open at the back and usually with a strap at the back of the shoes. When the back strap is missing, the shoe is referred to as a mule and in some instances as a slide. To make this look wearable for spring, make sure the coat is long but not too long to cover your shoes and you can wear stockings too if you choose but ensure that you wear a pair that is close to your skin tone. Happy styling.

How to style the snake print trend for a corporate Job

*Set adapted from @Styleboardcreator

We can see that the snake print trend is everywhere; runways, stores, street style and this post is on how to style the trend for work. If you work in a corporate or formal setting where your work attire is conservative but you are a fashionista at heart and like to try most fashion trends, it would not be a good idea to wear snake print attire to work for example snake print blouse, skirts...rather, use an accessory like a bag or a pair of shoes to show your fashion sense. The set featured here is an inspiration on how to wear the trend to a corporate job. Snake print pumps in black and white color is a neutral and can be paired with other neutrals or color of outfits; to make the outfit more interesting, add a pop of color with a pair of earrings, bracelet or neckpiece; to switch things around, If you choose to wear a snake print handbag, wear colorful earrings or shoes to add a pop of color to your outfit. It would not be a good idea to mix prints with this trend when you are styling it for work; just keep your outfit simple and neutral and let your accessories do the magic. Happy styling 😀

Pink coat + floral flats

Hi everyone 😁 The year is quickly coming to an end; can you believe it? We made it this far and we will make it across to 2018 in Jesus name; Amen! I designed this sweatshirt I paired with my jean off of the Custom ink website years ago and the graphics on the sweat shirt reads; "My God is super cool." At that time, there were not lots of inspirational/graphic tees around but right now, they are everywhere and if you are someone like me who loves graphic tees for casual wear, you would celebrate the classic graphic tee because it is just timeless and it is a trend that you can wear

Work Wear: Grey color Winter Style

So, I wore this grey color boucle coat and grey pants recently just because grey is a color that is right for Winter. Wear grey colors in a monochrome style, mix it up with burgundy or black or mix it up with prints like gingham or houndstooth; however you mix it, it just comes out right. I paired my grey pants with a white long sleeve top to break up the monochromatic effect when I added the dark grey boucle coat. My dark green velvet block heels
