Shoe Lovin'

       Is it too early in the year to share some fashion trends on here? I don't think so! 😆 I'll start first with a disclaimer that this post is not to encourage you to go shopping. Like I always say; this blog is for therapeutic and entertainment purposes only. However, it is a fashion blog so, I would always share fashion trends and style inspiration on here, but this is not a sponsored content or affiliate links marketing post so don't feel compelled to check out the links. Tiered Dresses: The new dress trend

   

        Tiered dresses are so on trend right now. You can wear them now in spring and all through summer. They come in different colors and patterns and lengths. Tiered dresses are great to wear to casual summer events like luncheons, picnics, friendly meet-ups and even showers and weddings with the right accessories. 2020 Fashion Trend: Colored Leather

          ᒺeather is a huge trend this season, especially colored leather and I am loving the trend! If you are into the trend too, this post is for you. This cameo color puffy sleeve dress, available here and here is suitable for spring with a pair of black leggings or tights. This look is suitable for activities and occasions like school, shopping or running errands; accessorize the look with colored accessories like the wine color bucket bag, combat boots and statement earrings and you would have a great outfit for fashion events like blogger meet-ups or conferences. Shoe Lovin' - Square toe Satin Loafers

               ᔑquare toe shoes are trending this season and so is loafers. Although, this classic shoe style has been around for a long time, it cycles in and out of the fashion scene from time to time. It has reemerged as a trend this season mostly because of the square toe trend. I spotted this satin loafers on line and decided to feature it here on the blog on the Shoe lovin' Series. The pearl accessory or embellishment is such a cute detail and the cameo color gives a nod to the combat shoes trend. This shoe by sole society, has sold out online but you might still find them in pre-loved sites like Porshmark and Tradesy. LOFT Fashion Rental

              ᔑustainable fashion is gaining more recognition and several retail stores are making adjustments in how their fashion is made or sold in order to cater to the needs of their customers who crave sustainability in fashion. Not every one is interested in fast fashion anymore; most consumers are looking into ways they can get more buck for their dollars. This might be the reason that clothing or fashion rental (a form of sustainable fashion) is catching on. A new store that just got into this trend is LOFT. The fashion retail store has a new fashion rental service that is somewhat similar to that of Rent the Runway. Loft is, and has always been one of my favorite stores especially for work attire and I was very happy to learn about this new service and decided to share the news on the blog. Holiday Gift Guide

             եhe  holiday shopping season is here and if you shopping for your loved ones especially the ladies and need some guide or inspiration on what to get them, then take a look at the listed items on the collage above. My general rule of gift giving at any time, is to give gift cards preferably from a store that your loved one is familiar with. However, if you absolutely need to get a gift for someone, then consider getting them gifts that they would not only enjoy, but they would also cherish at the same time. Almost every lady would enjoy a new set of Pajama Shorts any day and this bright red set is very fun and trendy and goes well with the festive season. 

Brown and black Polka dots style

The polka dots trend is still going on strong and while I love the trend and do not mind it, I still think that the black and white polka dots which is the classic print is now a bit too trendy. I love other colors of the trend like the white background with the black dots. The color combination I really love most is this tan background and black dots. The color combination is not so common and if you know me, you'll know that I love a different twist on a trend. J. Crew   really got it right when they launched this polka dot chino pants two summers ago, no wonder they sold out so fast. Other styles of this polka dots combination that I have seen online are super expensive like this pant here. The pants are beautiful but on the steep side. If I didn't get this pair from J. Crew before it sold out, I probably would have headed to the fabric store to find the print. Yes, if  you cannot afford it or cannot find it, try and make it. That is the new rule for the new year. Shoe Lovin,' - Embellished Sandals

So, I have been posting about embellished shoes for a while now and this floral embellished sandal probably tops all the affordable embellished shoes that I have shared on here in recent times. It is just beautiful and whimsical and it's got so much texture; stripes, florals, color blocking and being a sandal, it is ideal for the spring and summer season. This beautiful piece is a creation of the renowned Fashion Designer, Betsey Johnson who has a very whimsical and eccentric design style. Her shoes are stylish and affordable at the same time and if you are into eclectic design or style, you can check out her brand. This embellished sandal would be great for prom, showers and weddings. The number one trending shoe color for Spring

 I remember when floral shoes used to be a huge trend for spring; yes, floral flats, sneakers, heels....the trend is different this season unless you have a pair of neon floral shoes. Neon color is trending this spring and I think it might extend into the summer months and while we have different neon colors like orange and fuchsia, lemon or lime color neon seems to be riding on top. And there are different shades of it too. Put three or four neon green pieces together and you will understand what I mean by saying that there are different shades of the color. A neon color shoe would add a beautiful pop of color to a white tee and denim look and would also look good paired with a black dress. Styling Neon for Spring: Lime color Coat + Plaid Pants

Happy First day of spring everyone 😁 To celebrate the new season, I wore my light weight lime color coat that I have had in the closet for years, paired with a black color long sleeve tee and plaid pants previously styled here on the blog.  Plaid print pieces are not just for fall season anymore; you can pretty much wear them the whole year depending on the fabric and the style of the plaid piece. For this look, I tried to keep everything simple knowing that the lime color coat would be the statement piece in the outfit because of the color. Lime color and neon colors are very big trends this season and you are going to see them every where; tops, bottoms, accessories...

Fashion Find: Swan Cloud Maxi Skirt at Chicwish

"Fashion Find" is a new feature or post on the blog that highlights any fashion piece that is outstanding or makes a statement just like this tiered maxi skirt above. This segment would only highlight clothing pieces and bags and jewelry or any other item related to fashion with the exception of shoes. All shoe posts will continue to be highlighted in the "Shoe Loving" posts like this one here and here and here and here; So back to this beautiful piece from Chicwish. It is a gorgeous skirt, hand made from layers of soft lace and tulle. It looks very delicate and stunning and would look great for any special occasion like wedding, bridal shower, birthday celebrations and special holidays like Easter and Christmas. The only con in wearing this piece is that you have to ensure you are not upstaging the celebrant/host of the event or special occasion you have been invited to and the style is not totally new, It has been around for a while now. Green Feather Ankle Boots

Another shoe lovin' post here today that features this teal color feather embellished ankle boots from Nordstrom. This pointy toe stiletto boots are made of leather with a soft shine to it and have a 4" heel. The feather embellishments and color make them look dressy and appropriate for spring or fall weddings. This year, embellished shoes are going to be a huge trend and you'll see a lot of feather embellishments on accessories and fashion pieces. How I styled my camo prints pencil Skirt

Happy Friday Friends 😁 This is a flash back look to this outfit I wore last fall and just pulled from my photo archives. I have always loved camo prints because it's so edgy and chic and for a long time, I wanted a clothing item with this print. I saw a couple of camo print pants, skirts and jackets online over the years but never made a purchase. There was always something wrong with the piece; it was either the skirts were too short or the style too juvenile and the really nice designs were too expensive like this beautiful camo print midi skirt here. So, I just settled for an accessory in this camo print pumps here and styled here and here. Then I stumbled accidentally on this camo print pencil skirt on a site that retails modest fashion called Apostolic Clothing. The skirt comes in this knee length and also in a maxi. I love the length of the skirt but the fabric is a bit stretchy and cannot really be described as modest because it clings to the curves but a big or baggy top would be appropriate depending on what event or occasion you are styling it for. Another place you can get unique designs of camo print pant or skirt is on Etsy. Another alternative is to get the camo print fabric at a fabric store and then sketch your own design and send it out to a seamstress. You might end up spending more money but you'll always get a unique piece and there is always the satisfaction that you are channeling your own creativity.

The Pearl Earrings Trend

Pearls have been statement jewelry for centuries back and are highly regarded as status jewelry. Their value and price has made them special occasion jewelry; to be worn when there is a very special event and then kept in a safe box. This is true of real, genuine pearls; however, faux pearl or fake pearls have also been around for years and while they are not of great value, they are beautiful to look at and can also be as stylish as the real ones. Some pearls are encrusted with real diamonds or other valuable stones like this cultured fresh water pear drop earrings  that retails for about $800 because it has diamond accents in it and this some what similar set  that retails for about $450. Now that pearl earrings are trending, you do not have to splurge on expensive sets. Above are faux pearls that are beautiful and stylish to look at but do not cost a bunch. My favorite bag trend

Ͳhe pouch bag which appeared on the fashion scene last fall has become my favorite trendy bag of all time despite the steep price tag. Yes, I do factor the price of fashion into my appreciation or likeness for it 😂 I have been seeing this bag in different colors and fabric on the gram and on Pinterest and they are not hard to miss. The simple, cloud like or dumpling shape design elevates any outfit whether casual or formal and I think it is a bag that also transcends the seasons which might make the price point worth it. White Boots

White shoes trend came on the scene a couple of seasons ago and never left. This shoe color is fast becoming the favorite in most ladies' wardrobe behind the nudes and recently the snake prints. In the summer, the trend is white mules, white sneakers, white sandals and in the fall and winter months, it is the white ankle boots or knee boots. If you are interested in trying out this trend, Target is having a shoe sale currently and the selections above are my favorites. Target is one of the retailers that offer trendy fashion at affordable prices and their quality is great too. Puffer Coat + Zebra prints Scarf

While we are still on the animal prints trend, I'm definitely here for it. I have somehow found a way to incorporate the prints into every outfit I wear this season. This outfit that features a puffer coat and black denim pants got the zebra prints treatment in this large zebra prints scarf which is actually a DIY piece. I went to the fabric store years ago when I was decorating my home and cut several yards of different animal prints faux fur fabric which I used as cushion throws, and throws for my closet chair. All the faux fur fabrics are in stored in my closet now because I have since changed out the décor in my home. So, I repurposed this zebra prints throw into a neck scarf here on a very cold day. I completed the look with a clear tote blogged about here and I tell you, I was very warm and comfy.
