Yellow sweater Dress + white Boots

I sought out a yellow color sweater dress for a long time and was so glad when I finally found this. Styling it was super easy, yellow and white go perfectly together and this pair of boots have been in heavy rotation lately. My embellished headband completed this look. I wore this dress on Easter Sunday and I look forward to styling it again in the Fall. Thanks so much for reading.

Green cable knit sweater Dress + White Boots

Cable knit sweaters are some of my favorite pieces for cold weather season and it's even better when they are sweater dresses. I fell in love with this mint green baloon sleeve sweater dress when I saw it first time online. The color and style is super gorgeous and the cable knit design and texture is very unique.

All Red Outfit: Red Wool Coat

Red is the color for the month of February, symbolizing "Heart health month" and also one of  the celebratory colors of love for those who celebrate Valentine and of course, February is also Black History Month. Red is low key one of my favorite colors and my favorite way of styling it is by going the way of monochrome.

I wore this outfit to Church last Sunday; a red knit dress, red wool coat and reddish brown leather boots to add texture to the outfit. I purchased the red wool coat from Metrostyle years ago and I currently love this olive color lapel coat here. The red sweater bag is an old thrifted piece. You can find similar knit or sweater bags on Etsy.

Monochrome Style: Brown and Nude Knits

One of my goals this year when it comes to fashion is to wear more colors. I realized that monochrome styling is what comes to me naturally whenever I'm putting outfits together and I want to get out of my comfort zone from now onwards. Also, I want to find more joy in blogging again. For the past two years, I have been using this blog as a sort of fashion Journal or Diary only to document my outfits.

I set the blog on private because I just could not get myself to deactivate or delete the blog. (Probably, I just like writing for myself) Now, I am thinking I need to set it back to public viewing at least for my upcoming ten years blogging Anniversary. I'll think seriously of what to do with the blog afterwards.

Shopping my Closet for Winter Staples: Sweater Dress + Riding Boots

hen you live in a cold and snowy state like I do, you'll agree with me that the long dreary winter can get to you sometimes; like, hey! I'm tired of wearing pants and coats! In Minnesota here, we are still in the deep of winter with lots of snow and when I get tired of wearing my big coats, I reach for a thick sweater dress and knee high boots like I did here. I have had this dark charcoal sweater dress for years and it comes into heavy rotation in the winter time. The Colin Stuart knee boots are old too; purchased  over eight years ago from the Victoria's Secret Catalog. The elastic belt is from J Crew and the bag is a thrifted piece from a thrift and consignment store in my neighborhood. I like how the bag mimics the current pouch trend and since my bag costs less than $20, it's a win, win. If you like to wear sweater dresses in the winter too, check out the shopping links below for different selections and thanks so much for stopping by...😀

A flashback look to a Spring Date Night Outfit

Happy Friday everyone 😁 and welcome back to my blog. Like I said in one of my recent posts, I was gone on blog vacation for exactly two months. The last time I was fully active on the blog via published post was here. And my first post back was this one right here. If you are wondering why there are so many posts between, it's because I published them when I got back on active blogging. So, it is safe to say it was not a full blog vacation, it was somewhat a partial one because I was taking pictures and writing blog posts every day while I was away. My blog has become my personal diary and I feel like I have to write something in it everyday. I must say I am addicted to Blogging at this time 😎 The only difference was that I archived my posts in the draft folders while I was away and published them when I got back. So, there is so much to read and catch up on. Just get a snack and a drink and read and browse away.

White teddy coat + White knit dress + Styling trends

The teddy bear coat has been trending for a while now and I have had this off white teddy coat in my closet in ages along with this off white sweater dress that I have styled on this blog so many times, first time in this blog post. And just an aside; it is very important for us to take care of whatever belongs to us, but not in a selfish way though. Let go of things you need to let go off and take care of the things you need to keep. I took care of this beautiful knit dress I purchased from Victorias' Secret over ten years ago and that is why I still have it in my closet today.

Grey Sweater Dress + Green trench Coat

Happy Monday everyone. I hope to make this post as short as possible. I'm wearing a grey color sweater dress and a vintage green color vintage trench coat that has a removable floral lining for extra warmth. I love how the color of the coat just makes the otherwise grey outfit pop. This sweater dress is an old one from the closet purchased from Victorias' Secret years ago. The neckline can be turned into an off-shoulder style; can be worn as a cowl neck and it can also be worn over the head like a hood. I just love the versatility of this sweater dress. I wear it a lot in the winter months and it is so worn now that I think it is finally time to give it a break. I'll only wear it to lounge at home from now onwards. I paired the grey dress with high heeled ankle boots and a black bag; trying to keep it very simple and neutral underneath the green coat.  Lastly, my green and gold tone statement earrings completed the look. If you are asking what I'm thinking; yes, the coat is a thrifted piece from years ago. I think I paid about $15 or $20 dollars for it and then I had it dry cleaned too. I take care of all my winter coats and store them properly because they are not really just fashion pieces for me but essentials. I have a couple of 100 % wool coats that actually cost up to a $1000 for a new piece but I got each of them for under $100 at the thrift and consignment store like the camel coat I wore here and here.  You need to have good warm coats and trench coats if you live in Minneapolis. Thanks so much for stopping by here.

The Sweater Dress: A cold weather Closet Essential

If there is a style of dress we have to own in our closet in the cold weather month, it has to be the sweater dress. It is a very comfortable style of dress to wear when the temperatures drop and the styling options are endless. You can pair your sweater dress with a pair of sneakers or flats when the weather is not that cold and you can style with tights and boots when the temperature gets really, really cold. A sweater dress can also be layered with denim jackets, bomber jackets and long coats. The dress I am wearing here is an old piece from my closet and it is in my favorite color purple. I styled it with a pair of black tights and boots and completed the look with tassel earrings and a printed head wrap which is actually in animal prints. Since this is the season for wearing sweater dresses, there are so many options available on sale at different stores and I have linked a few in my shopping links below. However, I was not able to find an affordable sweater dress in a purple or lilac color to add to the list. What are your thoughts on sweater dresses?

Styling the little black dress (LBD) for Fall

We all have the little black dress in our closets and though this might be a dress that is reserved by many for special days and occasions, it can be styled for the fall weather on a regular day. My best LBD (LITTLE BLACK DRESS) to wear in the cold months is the sweater dress or knit dress. The fabric is meant for the colder months because it is warm and cozy to wear. However, any LBD can be worn irrespective of the material or fabric just by simple layering. In my outfit here, my dress is a sleeveless, turtle neck knit dress from Zara which I layered by wearing a long sleeve sweater underneath. The weather wasn't too cold so ankle boots was very appropriate to style with the dress. In colder weather, knee high or thigh high boots can be worn with some stockings as the need might be. I styled a maxi lace dress a few weeks ago by layering a cardigan over it as you can see in this post here. Also, you can add a pop of color to your look with the use of accessories like a colorful bag as I did in this post here where I styled this same dress. To update your LBD, you can style it with a snake print bag or a pair of snake print boots or pumps. As you know, the snake print trend is the rave this fall. Get out your LBDs and style and mix them into your fall  wardrobe. Thanks so much for stopping by here.

Sweater dress and plaid coat

Well, plaid blazers and coats have been trending since Fall and that is not to say that it is a new trend. This print; check, plaid has been around for ages. I recently went through my closet and brought out all my plaid pieces and that is how this outfit came about. I have had this plaid  coat for a long time and also the sweater dress which is an old purchase from Victoria's Secret. Sweater dresses are definitely Fall essentials and so is the color grey and

All black and plaid shirt

Hello, showcasing one of my recent "go-to" outfits in this post today; a top, denim and a shirt. I wore this outfit for an appointment a while back sans the high heels which I switched out for a pair of metallic flats. This sparkly metallic pumps from Asos was previously blogged about here. The plaid shirt was added on to the black outfit to add some print and color because I never really put it on; just left it tied at the waist.  It was a cool "layering outfit" for a cold day.

How are you doing? I hope you are doing great. It has warmed up a great deal in my neck of the woods and the time has come to get the layers  off.

Sweater Dress + Camel color sleeveless coat

Happy first day of February Friends. So in my previous posts, I wore a snowy day outfit and today, it is all about a simple casual wear for a not-too-cold winter day. I have always loved sweater dresses and I purchased this burgundy color one from Victoriassecret years ago and this makes me wonder for the umpteenth time; "whatever happened to Victoriassecret's clothing and shoes line?" They used to have very fabulous clothing line for work and play and I really loved their sweater dresses and work wear. Their Colin Stuart shoe collection was also beautiful too but it's all gone and they've gone back to just selling lingerie and beauty products. I have not read or heard anything in the media about this and I'm curious to know more.

Now, back to this simple outfit; my sweater dress is really clingy and since I'm very curvy, I decided to throw on a sleeveless coat for extra cover. And to the big curvy girls like me; it's okay to be confident in whatever you wear but you always have to exercise some caution in your dressing so you can look decent and classy. In other words, if you are big behind, you definitely need to invest in good shapewear and have a good collection of light coats, cardigans, vests, dusters and kimonos whichever suits your fashion taste. Check out my Bible verse of the day below and thanks so much for reading.

Plaid Jacket + Sweater Dress

Happy Tuesday Friends 😃 This is just a quick work wear post. Like I said in my previous post; the snow is starting to melt and we are experiencing a  brief warm-up in what our meteorologists call the "January thaw." So, I decided to ditch the boots for this block heeled pumps. As we know, block heels are trending but this pair I have on is a bit old and what I love about it is the wooden heels; I can step on slushy snow and not be scared that my shoe heels would be ruined. So, this pair gets its turn over and over during the winter season and it does add a pop of color to any outfit too.

For the rest of the outfit, I just threw a plaid jacket over a tan color sweater dress and since the weather is still cold and dry, I put on a pair of polka dot stockings. This is a very formal and yet fun outfit. I could have used a belt on the sweater dress too but I decided not to because the dress has an elaborate turtle neck and a belt around the waist though stylish, would have been a bit stuffy and uncomfortable. I shop my closet a lot during the winter season and there will be more winter fashion styling on here. Thanks so much for stopping by here and for your thoughts/comments. I love you for reading 😙

Fall Work Dresses

Happy Monday...:-) It's all about dresses for work  this Fall season on Work wear Monday today on the blog. We all know knit dresses and sweater dresses are very popular in the Fall and Winter seasons and this post is all about highlighting some ways we can make this season's dresses stylish and chic for work.

Fun Accessories

Add some fun to a demure knit dress by throwing in very fun accessories in beautiful and stylish prints like leopard print pumps, a statement bag or a cozy chic neck scarf. And since it is cold season, make the tights fun too and a statement coat would not hurt.

Color Blocking

Color blocking is another way of making the season's dress stand out. Swap a solid color knit dress for a color block one like this "Phase Eight Abbey belted dress" in the set below and you'll look polished and chic and ready for work. You can also alternate by wearing a solid plain color dress and accessorizing with a cool statement color block bag like the one pictured here and here and

 Add Color

Color should not be forgotten at this time of the year; it should be incorporated into Fall Fashion in every way. Transform that summer dress into fall by layering it with a sweater or a turtle neck top and use belts and brooches to tie in the look. A warm and cozy coat should be the icing on the cake for the whole look and if you work in an environment that is friendly to Fall fashion, you can swap out the pumps for a pair of over the knee boots.

Winter Casual; Sweater Weather

These pictures were taken on a very cool cloudy evening and the wind was brisk and gusty and it somehow felt like an evening in fall or early spring but it is actually still winter in Minnesota; 'very unbelievable weather. As I drove home from work, I saw some kids in shorts getting off the school bus and I just smiled. It was some sort of mixed feelings; I was happy that winter was becoming bearable and then I was a bit sad that there might be a great deal of truth to global warming after all (not that I really doubted it anyway). However, the meteorologists predict that real winter weather will be back next week.

Well, I decided to take some pics for the blog and I slipped into this casual outfit and I was able to get some pics before the sun finally went down. I just realized that I have not done a casual look on the blog in a long time. I got this purple sweater dress from T. J. Maxx years ago and it's usually in heavy rotation in the cold weather months. I usually wear it with tights or skinnies and the skinny jeans and booties I wore with it in this post were purchased from Victorias secret last fall. I just love the cute pockets on the sides. Sweater dresses are great pieces to have and they can be styled in so many ways.

I'm very happy that the blizzard that was predicted to hit the north east was not as bad as it was supposed to be and I hope everyone is keeping safe and warm over there.

Repeat Mode

Sweater Dress: Victoria Secret: old
Jacket: Wilsons leather: old
Boots: Report Signature
Bag: Jacqueline ferrar
Lace socks: Express: old
Animal prints scarf: Target: old

Hi Friends; I'm so excited writing this post for a number of reasons. First of all, my vacation starts today and I do not go back to work until five days into the new year...:-). Secondly, I get to relax and spend time with my family and then Christmas is just a few days away. I had a somewhat busy day today as I had to do some chores. I picked up the kids from school this afternoon and took them to the dentist for their cleaning/hygiene appointment then we went to Chuck E Cheese afterwards and had lunch and played games. The Chuck E Cheese in my neighborhood has very good food and we love to go there now and then. We had pepperoni pizza, fries and buffalo wings with delicious vanilla ice-cream for dessert; yum!...:-).

This simple outfit; an old Victorias secret sweater dress is what I wore. I love to wear sweater dresses in the winter and this particular one has been in heavy rotation and repeat mode over the years. You can see previous feature here, here, here. The weather was in the upper twenties and not too cold but I'm tired of all the cloudy days we have been having over here. We need some sun please..
Hey guys, guess who featured on the blog again today? Meet my peeps...

My oldest one Zoe (7)

My second one Zoza (5)

My little ones Ziva and Zion (3 and 11 months)

Zoza and Ziva (the ladies in the house...:-))
