mustard color Dress + blue straw bag

Hi Friends 😀 I hope everyone is doing great. I'm restyling this mustard dress that I wore in this post here. Last time, I styled it for fall and this time, I styled it for summer just by changing out the accessories. I cinched my waist with a clear belt and added blue color accessories for some color blocking style and by the way, color blocking is back on trend.

Puffy sleeve blazer + Velvet

իi everyone, I hope we are all doing great; just a short blog post here to brighten up our day. There is so much negativity and uncertainty out there right now and I believe everyone just have to do what we can to keep our spirits up. I was looking through my Blog Archives the other day and realized that I had not published this post featuring one of my holiday outfits so, I decided to get it done. I wore this puffy sleeves, embellished (embroidered) vintage blazer over a vintage silk ruffle neck blouse paired with velvet pants and gold singback and a box clutch. I wore this outfit to Church a few days after the New Year. I pray that the blessings and good tidings of the new never leave us. Thanks so much for reading.

Shopping my Closet for Winter Staples: Sweater Dress + Riding Boots

hen you live in a cold and snowy state like I do, you'll agree with me that the long dreary winter can get to you sometimes; like, hey! I'm tired of wearing pants and coats! In Minnesota here, we are still in the deep of winter with lots of snow and when I get tired of wearing my big coats, I reach for a thick sweater dress and knee high boots like I did here. I have had this dark charcoal sweater dress for years and it comes into heavy rotation in the winter time. The Colin Stuart knee boots are old too; purchased  over eight years ago from the Victoria's Secret Catalog. The elastic belt is from J Crew and the bag is a thrifted piece from a thrift and consignment store in my neighborhood. I like how the bag mimics the current pouch trend and since my bag costs less than $20, it's a win, win. If you like to wear sweater dresses in the winter too, check out the shopping links below for different selections and thanks so much for stopping by...😀

How to create a no fuss all black Outfit for the Holiday

t's a few days to Christmas and the new year and this is not the time to be running around trying to find yourself an outfit to wear to a Christmas holiday event. The holiday is a time to be merry and a time to be with family and friends so, do not sweat anything if you do not have an outfit figured out yet; just take a deep breath and relax. At times when you are in need of a quick outfit and do not have any outfit in mind, just do the default outfit; all black. An all black outfit is very safe for any event. To make it holiday ready, think sequins, tulle and velvet

The Pearl Earrings Trend

Pearls have been statement jewelry for centuries back and are highly regarded as status jewelry. Their value and price has made them special occasion jewelry; to be worn when there is a very special event and then kept in a safe box. This is true of real, genuine pearls; however, faux pearl or fake pearls have also been around for years and while they are not of great value, they are beautiful to look at and can also be as stylish as the real ones. Some pearls are encrusted with real diamonds or other valuable stones like this cultured fresh water pear drop earrings  that retails for about $800 because it has diamond accents in it and this some what similar set  that retails for about $450. Now that pearl earrings are trending, you do not have to splurge on expensive sets. Above are faux pearls that are beautiful and stylish to look at but do not cost a bunch. Click on the product information below to get more information on the sets. Happy viewing, happy shopping.

How I styled my Cow Boy Boots

Happy Friday friends 😁 I hope you are happy and thankful everyday for every little blessing. I'm happy and thankful to God for everything in my life right now including this blog. As I have said so many times in the previous posts; it's very cold and cloudy in my city with occasional peaks of sun and it's been difficult getting outfit photos to update the blog this season. So, I will be doing more collage posts and shoe posts to keep the blog running. I hope the weather is nice wherever you are. In this post, I'm wearing my all time favorite bright yellow cropped coat that I have had for years along with a white pair of denim and black embroidered cow boy boots. The boots are a recent purchase from thrift shopping and I paid about $8.99 for them.

Leopard Prints Sandals + Red belt bag

So, the leopard prints trend seems not to be going anywhere and I have got no problem with it. The style or trend is more interesting this season because it is being styled in fresh new ways than it has ever been; beautiful clothing pieces with great silhouettes, draping, blazers, pants, dresses...Another styling trend is the different hue or shades of the print. I like white color leopard prints trend like the blazer I wore in my previous post here and the calf hair pumps I wore in this post  here. For this look, I combined two trends; a pair of calf hair sandals; an old purchase from Macys and a belt bag which is actually a DIY piece. I tucked in the straps into the bag, left the bag open and sneaked it behind a red belt I used to cinch my waist then shut the bag close with the clasp. I took some pictures of the process and would do a post on it some other time. My aim on this blog from now on is to share more money saving tips and affordable fashion. Can I say again that this off white blazer was thrifted years ago? The turtle neck short sleeve sweater is an old purchase from Nordstrom and a similar style is currently on sale for 50% at Boohoo.

Shoe Lovin' - Snake Print Ankle Boots

Snake prints boots is a major trend this fall and the trend is a twist on the cowboy boots trend. In other words, cowboy boots are trending for fall and the snake print boots is derivative of the trend. The boots add an unexpected interest to an outfit and styling it is really easy. You can pair them with almost any fall colors; off whites, all black, oranges, burgundy...it just goes with most outfits. This pair featured here is very edgy and chic and presently on sale and you can check it on the J. Crew website here.

Floral tulle lace dress + Straw Clutch

Hi everyone, happy Friday 😀 I hope the week has been going great for you. This is a very quick post here showing this tulle dress I wore for Mother's Day this year and also to my friend's 40th birthday celebration a couple of weeks ago. I wore a similar dress last year to a different birthday party and I blogged about it here This dress here along with the blue color piece are the only tulle dresses I own. Remember when tulle skirts and dresses was a huge trend in 2015 and 2016? I loved the trend so much and looked out for a grown-up way to wear it since it was more popular with the millennial and twenty-somethings 😂 I got my wish in this dress; very chic and fun in my opinion. I accessorized the dress with a straw clutch from J. Crew Factory which has since sold out and this lovely pair of wine colored sandals from Go Jane. The sandals are so comfy, chic and affordable that I purchased them in the champagne and purple color. What plans do you have for the weekend? 'like I mentioned in my previous post, Ill be busy organizing my fall and winter closet for myself and other members of my family. Thank you so much for stopping by here; have a blessed weekend.

Yellow Polka dots Maxi Dress + White Mules

Happy Monday Friends; I hope everyone reading this blog post today is doing great. There is so much going on in the world right now and so much catastrophe that when we wake up in the morning and are strong and can go about our daily duties, we have enough reason to give God thanks. I'm very thankful for a lot of things including this outfit I am wearing that I purchased from Shein for under $30. I had heard so much about the site; that their prices are very affordable and I wanted to test out the quality of their Fashion. The pvc bag I am holding here is also from the store. I must say I was very impressed when my items arrived. The quality of this dress and the other pvc bags that I ordered is very good.  This is not a sponsored post, just my own opinion and I'm just going to say I recommend Shein as a shopping site; at least you get good quality for the affordable price. It might not be the best quality but it's good enough. And with the way trends come and go so fast these days, you don't have to splurge on any item any more at a high end brand when you can make a purchase at an affordable site.

A look back at Summer's translucent accessories trend

Happy Friday and before I begin, I want to say a big "Thank-you" ft you for stopping by here. I do appreciate every one that stops by. I know most visitors to this blog do not leave comments but I  look at my blog stats sometimes and am able to tell that people are stopping by so Thanks once again for your visit. I have decided to make Fridays a sort of flash back post to something related to fashion  in the times past and that being said, I'm talking about translucent accessories today. It was a trend I admired a lot and I blogged about the bags here and here and here. Although I have been on a shopping freeze, I did make an exception and ordered a few translucent accessories and I have enjoyed styling them like in this post here. This look is what I wore a few weeks ago. I paired my striped off the shoulder blouse (similar to the one I blogged about here) with a pair of red shorts and completed the look with my translucent bag and heels.

The Denim Jacket: A Closet Essential

So, fall is upon us, no kidding. It's starting to feel like fall in my city and the trees are starting to lose their leaves and change colors. I have started to pull out my outerwear one by one from my closet and the first grab was this denim jacket. I know this is a closet piece that every one should own; men and children too. It is so versatile and can be thrown over any outfit; dresses, shorts, pants and skirts and it is also a perfect layering piece for early fall or any time there is a significant drop in the weather. I also take a denim jacket with me whenever I travel by air or by road and if you don't own one yet, I say you should. There are lots of affordable styles in the stores or if you need a good vintage and affordable denim jacket, you can stop by your local thrift store and stop by the outer wear aisle; plus the cost of dry cleaning, you can get a great denim jacket for about $15.

Green Gingham + Bermuda Shorts

Happy Friday Friends. This is a quick post here to share one of my most casual looks for the summer. What can be more casual than a pair of distressed bermuda jean shorts worn on a hot, hot summer day? I paired the denim shorts with a green color gingham off the shoulder top from JCrew. I love the color and style of the top. My yellow color mules previously styled here added a pop of color to my outfit. And what summer outfit can be complete without straw accessories? I'm starting to build a small collection of straw bags and hats. I really love the contrast and organic vibes they add to casual outfits and they have versatile styling too. They can be paired with dresses, shorts, pants, denim...they just go with any outfit and the fact that you can find very cute and quality straw hat and bag at any price range is a plus. This outfit was worn to the park with the kiddos where we had some great fun. We are still enjoying the last few days of summer. What about you; are you doing your best to enjoy the rest of summer or are you just eagerly waiting for fall? Thanks so much for stopping by here.

Work Wear: wearing White after Labor Day

Happy Tuesday Friends; it's a short work week for those of us that reside in the United States. I hope you had a fun Labor Day holiday yesterday. So, we are back to work today and the kids are back to school. It was the first day of school for my kids today and I was glad to send them off with prayers and thanksgiving. It's the best thing parents can do for their kids apart from providing them with all their needs; praying for them. I pray for my kids before they start a new school year for God to protect and guide them and help them make the right decisions at all times. The prayer has to continue too; not just a one day thing 😀 Okay, back to "Mommy Fashion;"what do you wear to work the day after Labor Day holiday which is the official end of summer? What do you say about the ongoing debate of not wearing white after Labor day? It's a rule that has been debunked long time ago as most people wear whites even well into the winter; winter whites anyone? The ongoing debate about not wearing whites after labor day by Fashion bloggers is just a fun debate at this time of the year; just something to talk about; so let's leave that old lady's tale alone 😊

Stripped top + White oversized denim

Happy Monday Friends 😀 We are almost at the end of summer (how sad) I've been busy enjoying the last days of summer with the kids and we just got back from our last family get-away for the summer and I'm now trying to get the kids ready for their first day of school which is after the Labor day holiday. Labor day is actually the unofficial last day of summer and they say no white outfit after the Labor day holiday and I say; "I don't care! haha! 😂 We all know those rules don't work anymore. Anyway, I wore this outfit weeks ago and just decided to blog it real quick this morning. I got this JCrew off the shoulder top last year and it actually had about one inch straps attached to the neckline which I cut off. The reason I cut them off was because I found them annoying whenever I tried to put on the top like putting my hands in the wrong hole and then finally getting it right and the straps falling off my shoulders over and over...have you ever experienced that with some off shoulder tops? 😜
