Styling Neon for Spring: Lime color Coat + Plaid Pants

Happy First day of spring everyone 😁 To celebrate the new season, I wore my light weight lime color coat that I have had in the closet for years, paired with a black color long sleeve tee and plaid pants previously styled here on the blog. Plaid print pieces are not just for fall season anymore; you can pretty much wear them the whole year depending on the fabric and the style of the plaid piece. For this look, I tried to keep everything simple knowing that the lime color coat would be the statement piece in the outfit because of the color. Lime color and neon colors are very big trends this season and you are going to see them every where; tops, bottoms, accessories...

Styling Green Pants for Work: Green Ankle Pants + Plaid Blazer

There was a huge snow fall last night; it actually started yesterday's evening to this morning and the temperature is in sub zeroes so, this is not what I am wearing today. It is an outfit I wore last week and it is suited for more moderate temps and probably more appropriate for spring and speaking of which; I'm really looking forward to the spring weather. Did I mention that classes and school was canceled today for most part of Minnesota? Yes, the cold and snow is just not a good combination. My kids are home presently as I type this post. Still thinking of spring; I'm looking forward to styling all my blazer's for a warmer season.

Holiday Style: Green Circle Skirt + Plaid

Hi Friends; happy last day of the year or happy New Year’s Eve. We all know that the Christmas holiday is over so I'm sure you are surprised seeing me in a Christmas-color outfit on new year's eve as opposed to sequins and glitter. Do not worry I have my new year's eve outfit picked already for our New Year's eve service in Church later tonight. This outfit is what I wore to church yesterday; the last Sunday of the year. I decided to go in these colors to remind myself that Christmas celebration really should be everyday. The reason for the celebration of the holiday is to remind us of the birth of our savior Jesus Christ who came to earth in human form, born of holy conception and died on the cross and resurrected three days later to give us the gift of salvation. It's just an awesome feeling to be reminded of this truth everyday of the year and I hope you believe and have faith in redemption too.

Work Style: Plaid blazer + red Pants

Hi everyone, just a quick post here; I'm wearing one of my plaid blazers; you really have to squint to really see the plaid print on this particular blazer because the plaid print is not as bold as the current trending plaid. This is one of my thrifted collection of blazers from over the years. Thrifting is a hobby I engage in every once in a while and as a result, I have so many blazers in several colors and patterns, dry cleaned and ready to be styled in my closet. This is why I say you do not have to spend tons on money in achieving a great style. A blazer is a basic that can be paired with most basics in our closet; dresses, denim, skirts.... For this look, I paired a pair of red color pants with this plaid blazer and a white tee and tan pumps completed the look.

My focus is not on this outfit though. I am thinking of the new iPhone 8 and iPhone x release last month and I'm eagerly waiting to have mine. I have had this iPhone 6 for a while and it's not doing it's best function anymore. How to Style: Plaid Prints

While we are still on the current "Plaid" trend, this post here is to give some styling inspiration on how to incorporate this trend to work wear and also to cute casual wear which I choose to call "play" in this post. It is not just okay to wear a trend because everyone is wearing it. You have to stand out in whatever you wear, not look like everyone else as if you attend a uniform boarding school. To get started, consider the following points.

First of all, get your (plaid) items in affordable but good quality styles: It's a "trend" and "trends" come and go. You do not want to splurge on a trend that you would be embarrassed to wear when it is no longer in season. There are so many stores like Asos, H&M, Zara, JCrew, Miss Selfridge, Loft, Ann Taylor...that would roll out the current runway trends for more affordable price without losing the quality of their brand.

Secondly, separate your items or clothing piece for work and play: If you take a look at the plaid (and sometimes gingham) clothing pieces out there in the stores, you would realize that not all of them are work appropriate and vice versa. That cute off the shoulder top or ruffled top and skirt might be more appropriate for a casual outing than to work. So, make sure you are able to separate your plaid pieces like that. And if you purchase a piece that you think you can style for work and play, surely, the accessories would be different for both occasion. So, separate the shoes and accessories you intend to use for the separate styling.

Plaid Jacket + Sweater Dress

Happy Tuesday Friends 😃 This is just a quick work wear post. Like I said in my previous post; the snow is starting to melt and we are experiencing a brief warm-up in what our meteorologists call the "January thaw." So, I decided to ditch the boots for this block heeled pumps. As we know, block heels are trending but this pair I have on is a bit old and what I love about it is the wooden heels; I can step on slushy snow and not be scared that my shoe heels would be ruined. So, this pair gets its turn over and over during the winter season and it does add a pop of color to any outfit too.

For the rest of the outfit, I just threw a plaid jacket over a tan color sweater dress and since the weather is still cold and dry, I put on a pair of polka dot stockings. This is a very formal and yet fun outfit. I could have used a belt on the sweater dress too but I decided not to because the dress has an elaborate turtle neck and a belt around the waist though stylish, would have been a bit stuffy and uncomfortable. Cobalt Plaid

Hi Friends; happy Wednesday. This is just a quick post on this pretty cobalt blue color plaid skirt I purchased and wore over the summer; tucked my black onesie black shirt into it and completed my look with this pretty Asos pompom sandals blogged about HERE. The plaid print is very popular in the Fall and Winter season but mostly in the styles of plaid scarfs and coats. With a plaid skirt like this one, you would definitely diversify the way you wear plaid. This skirt can be dressed up for work with a great chunky sweater and a pair of nice booties. One more way to wear Plaid..

Happy Thursday Friends; today's outfit is a throwback look I wore in the summer and my inspiration for this look was based on this outfit in this blog post HERE. I know it is Fall and I'm supposed to be posting Fall fashion outfits on here but this is a therapeutic post for me because this is what I actually want to wear right now; distressed denim, pumps, sunglasses, sunnies...Rather, I'm clothed in layers in sub temperature and snowy weather and just dreaming of being on the sunny beach...Lol

Not to digress from the matter at hand, I wanted to show with this post that there is another way we can wear plaid aside from wearing them in clothing like shirts, blouses, pants and scarves. Yes, I'm talking about my plaid pumps. It's such a fun print to add to your shoe collection and it adds a fun vibe to a casual look. One way to pull off this look in a cold Fall day is by adding a long trench coat or a regular coat in a darker color (shade) to the look and/or wearing a turtle neck sweater with shorter sleeves underneath the off-the-shoulder top and pulling the top lower a little bit. The Prints for the Season

This post is about timeless and classic pints that have been trending forever and seem not to be going anywhere, In the fall and winter months, they show up in very beautiful pieces like coats and scarfs. I think every lady should own one of these prints in a clothing item of a good quality fabric, style and silhouette. These prints; gingham, houndstooth and plaid stand out in black and white but they are pretty in other colors too. I'm loving them all.
