Happy Easter celebration to you + Chicwish Statement skirt

Happy Easter to you; I hope you ae having a beautiful celebration. Christ is risen and it's the time to celebrate the gift of salvation; speaking of which; I hope you know Easter has nothing to do with bunnies and colored eggs. The holiday is about celebrating the death and resurrection of our savior Jesus Christ. I had a very good time today at Church.

Summer Wish List Guide: ONE

                            One / Two / ThreeFour / Five / Six / Seven / Eight

Are you doing some spring cleaning yet? If you live in an area where you experience four seasons; winter, spring, summer and fall, you know this chore is inevitable every year. If you do not know, spring cleaning is the process of re-organizing your closet and putting away pieces or items from the current season that are no longer needed while you incorporate pieces from the upcoming season. Whatever pieces you add to your closet at this time should be able to keep you stylish and warm and cozy at the same time and it is usually regarded to as transitional dressing.

Grey Monochrome Outfit and the secret to staying happy

appy Monday Friends; I hope you had an awesome weekend and if you are in the United States, happy Presidents's day. Schools are closed today and some employees get today off as a holiday and this means an extra day to get things done or laze around. I'm glad my kids do not have school today and I look forward to enjoying the day with my family. I wore this monochrome outfit to church a few weeks ago; the grey bodysuit tee paired with this ruffle tiered maxi skirt.

Fashion Find: Swan Cloud Maxi Skirt at Chicwish

"Fashion Find" is a new feature or post on the blog that highlights any fashion piece that is outstanding or makes a statement just like this tiered maxi skirt above. This segment would only highlight clothing pieces and bags and jewelry or any other item related to fashion with the exception of shoes. All shoe posts will continue to be highlighted in the "Shoe Loving" posts like this one here and here and here and here; So back to this beautiful piece from Chicwish. It is a gorgeous skirt, hand made from layers of soft lace and tulle. It looks very delicate and stunning and would look great for any special occasion like wedding, bridal shower, birthday celebrations and special holidays like Easter and Christmas. The only con in wearing this piece is that you have to ensure you are not upstaging the celebrant/host of the event or special occasion you have been invited to and the style is not totally new, It has been around for a while now. The skirt comes in four colors; grey, pink, cream and lilac and you can check them  out here.

Holiday Style: Green Circle Skirt + Plaid

Hi Friends; happy last day of the year or happy New Year’s Eve. We all know that the Christmas holiday is over so I'm sure you are surprised seeing me in a Christmas-color outfit on new year's eve as opposed to sequins and glitter. Do not worry I have my new year's eve outfit picked already for our New Year's eve service in Church later tonight. This outfit is what I wore to church yesterday; the last Sunday of the year. I decided to go in these colors to remind myself that Christmas celebration really should be everyday. The reason for the celebration of the holiday is to remind us of the birth of our savior Jesus Christ who came to earth in human form, born of holy conception and died on the cross and resurrected three days later to give us the gift of salvation. It's just an awesome feeling to be reminded of this truth everyday of the year and I hope you believe and have faith in redemption too.

Layered in Eshakti polka dots dress and a denim jacket

Happy Monday Friends; it's October....😀 October is my favorite month because it is my birthday month; haha! Then, I just love it because it is fall which is my favorite time of the year. I love the cold weather in October (not too cold and without the snow although we do get snow in October in Minnesota) and I love it when the trees start to change colors just before they lose their leaves. I love fall weddings too and I attended one a few weeks ago. My favorite layering piece this year is my denim jacket. For this look, I layered it over a polka dots dress which I used as a blouse when I tucked it into my red midi skirt. The polka dots dress I used for this look is this Eshakti polka dots dress I blogged about here. The dress has a full skirt but it tucked well into this full midi skirt I purchased from Chicwish a couple of summers ago. I completed the look with this Ann Taylor satin bow mules blogged about here and here. The weather is not cold enough yet for boots so I am enjoying this light layering for as long as I can. I shared my favorite Bible verse and prayer for the new month below and would love you to check it out. Thanks so much for stopping by here

Wearing a Summer dress in the Fall

So, my opinion is that, if you have a favorite dress or outfit, you should be able to wear it at any time of the year if you choose to but you have to tweak it here and there. Granted, Fashion can be restrictive to seasons especially if you live in the United States and some other parts of the world where you have clearly defined seasons. Therefore, it would be odd to wear summer shorts in the Fall or winter. Having said that, there are some pieces that can clearly work for all or most of the seasons and one of such is this my floral pink/lilac dress. It is one of my favorite dresses and I wear it a lot during the summer season and I have blogged about it before here. What I did to wear this dress again in the Fall was to change the accessories. In the summer,

Layered in Florals

Happy Wednesday Friends;  I am sharing this look I wore to Church a few days ago. Although we already had our first snow fall in my city, the temperature was okay and not too cold so I wanted to wear light layers and my new velvet flats blogged about HERE. I threw on a white sweatshirt over my Chicwish floral dress previously blogged about HERE to achieve a "top over a skirt" look and it totally worked because a few friends thought I was wearing a skirt and a top.

It is good to note that Chicwish also had maxi skirts in this same fabric at the time this dress was released for sale two summers ago but why buy a skirt and a dress in the same fabric when you can style a dress as a skirt? This is a question to ponder when you shop for clothes this holiday season. I'm always up for any styling tip that can help me get the most out of my wardrobe or closet.

Outfit on Repeat

This Chicwish skirt is always on repeat every summer and it should be the most repeated outfit on this blog. I don't know why I get drawn to it every summer probably because the print is so bold and it is such a cool statement with the London phone booth print. I have managed to update the look each time I wear it by wearing a trendy top or seasonal top. The last time I wore it in the Spring, I just tucked a cable knit sweater into it and wore knee high boots in this post here. You can also see the other post here.

This time around, I just tucked in this red off the shoulder top into the skirt and since off the shoulder tops are trending this summer, it seemed a perfect match for this statement skirt. One way to enjoy styling your clothes and shopping your closet is to mix old pieces with new pieces; don't you agree?

Has anyone ever posted a look multiple times on the blog? What other way do you suggest I wear this skirt next time? I'm thinking I could wear it as a sleeveless dress and then throw a blazer over it?...Lol What are your thoughts; yay or nay?

Black and green Circle Skirt

I have developed a new love for all things lace and I do not know what to make of it yet...:-). I looked in my closet recently and discovered that my lace dress collection is growing rapidly. JCrew had a sale recently and there were very beautiful and colorful dresses for half the regular price; about $40.00 a piece. This black lace dress I used as a top for this skirt is actually very long and I just layered the green Chicwish skirt over it; one of my holiday looks for 2015. My daughters did not like this look though; they said the skirt was too puffy and that it looked like a tutu skirt. However, they liked the red lace combination I wore in my previous post and that left me puzzled..

I had fun with this outfit although I felt a little chubby in it; it must have been all that great Christmas food. I know the circle or full skirts have been around for a while and I wonder if the trend is totally out already or still out there. I'll keep my eyes open this summer to see what ladies would be wearing to showers and weddings.

Red lace on Circle skirt and Candy Cane

It is time for spring cleaning again; the warm up has started over here and the snow is starting to melt; thank God..:-) I can't wait for Summer to get here. This outfit is one of the couple of outfits I wore during the holidays and this post has been saved in my folder for weeks. The lace top is actually the lace dress I wore in this outfit here and I know every lady must know by now how easy it is to convert a dress into a top or a skirt. My red circle skirt I purchased from Chicwish a couple of months ago has been in heavy rotation lately. The two pieces matched so well that it looked like I was wearing a dress. The candy cane décor on my lawn looked like added accessories to my outfit too..:-)

I have a couple more outfits saved in my blog folder and I am going to go ahead and just upload them on the blog the next couple of days; so watch out for marathon posts on here.

Fall Floral Dress

There are so many things in life that make me happy besides my faith and family and one of such is dressing up and looking good on a dime. I do like designers' items because they are usually of great quality but my satisfaction with a fashion piece lies more with how beautiful it is than with the label or price of the item and this Chicwish dress just embodies all that. Its' cut, style and quality is just impeccable and it can be worn to almost any occasion.

I purchased the dress at the beginning of the summer and just wore it to church for the first time this past Sunday; after which I went to a friend's baby dedication and the dress was festive enough for the celebration. Also, our weather in Minnesota has been great so far and I still can't believe the fact that I am able to wear a sleeveless dress without a jacket in November. The large floral pattern and color of this dress is just suitable for fall. If you are interested in getting one, it is currently on sale for less than $50 on Chicwish.

Fall Floral

I decided to wear this Chicwish skirt I purchased last summer again this week and the weather was cloudy so my cell phone pictures did not come out right but I decided to blog them anyway. (My blog is a personal fashion diary so it is okay to show case the good and the bad). I wore this skirt a few days ago because I gave myself the challenge to wear pink the whole week to draw awareness to breast cancer and I decided to throw this floral mix in. The sandals I am wearing are actually dark pink but they turned out red in some of the pictures. Also, it is my birthday on Saturday and I am celebrating every day because it is just so awesome to be alive. I thank God for his greatness in my life; I am not going to complain; I am blessed and I am counting all my blessings.

The weather has been somewhat mild here and it is not quite fall weather yet according to Minnesota standards...:-). I am going to get myself organized this weekend and get all my boots and booties together. This outfit would look good with some high heeled boots or booties too. Do you notice my coat is rumpled in the last picture too?  hehe...lol

I wish you great tidings for the rest of the week. This month is almost ended and we are at the end of the year; amazing how time flies...

Red Circle Skirt

So, we all know that red and black is such an easy color combination to put together. One way to make this color combination fun is by mixing textures and silhouette. I am not sure if I like this color combo a lot but I decided to give it a shot when I found this red chicwish skirt on their website. I just like the volume of the skirt and the great pop of color. I wore this outfit to my friend's 40th birthday celebration a few days ago and I  am looking forward to wearing it again for the Christmas holiday.

Skirt: Chicwish

Jewelry: Loft
Heels: Neiman Marcus

My black top here is actually a peplum top and I just like it when a piece is versatile. I decided to do a mix-match of the accessories just to add a little bit of interest to the outfit. What do you think of long circle skirts or the red and black color combo? Your thoughts are welcome..
