How to elevate a floral dress: Statement earrings + Statement Clutch

My summer style includes lots of dresses which are usually easy to wear and easy to style. In order to elevate my dresses, I try to accessorize with colorful accessories, and I did that in this outfit by wearing blue color statement earrings from J Crew and a blue color woven pouch. The red square toed sandals, similar here are my go-to sandals this season and my red floral dress is an old purchase from Eshakti. Thanks so much for stopping by here.

Summer Style Outfit Inspiration: Flowy Dresses

resses are summer staples and basic essentials when the temperature starts to go up. Although, flowy dresses are a big trend every summer, there is a new twist to it every season. Last summer, they were just flowy and the year before that, they were off-the-shoulders and cold shoulder and now, they are puffy sleeved. This set here features a beautiful pink floral dress from Farfetch accessorized with square toed sandals which is a huge trend this summer. The straw bag and green pearlized earrings completes the look. This outfit is great for almost any occasion with just the change of accessories. Happy styling...

What to wear to a White Christmas Party: My Throwback Looks

love me a white Christmas and living in Minnesota now for over twenty years, I have somewhat come to expect it. The few times I did not experience a white Christmas was when I celebrated Christmas abroad and a year or two when we only had snow flurries. With the amount of snow we have had so far, I'm certain we would be having a white Christmas this year. It's beautiful to look out the window on Christmas morning and see the blanket of snow all around; just makes the season so much special. This is not to say that Christmas is not special any where else; snow or no snow, Christmas is a beautiful holiday and it is the most beautiful and wonderful time of the year. And I'm not forgetting that the birth of Jesus (our Savior) is the reason for the Season.

"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his Government and Peace, there will be no end..." Isaiah 9: 6-7 (Bible Verse NKJV)

Splashed in florals for Summer

This floral midi dress is what I wore for Easter, purchased from Stylewe months ago. It is the perfect summer dress suitable for events like weddings and showers. It is also the perfect dress to take with you on vacation. I love the splash of color which though very bold, does not detract from the simplicity of the dress. I look forward to restyling it for different occasions some time soon. Thanks so much for visiting.

The right floral dress to wear in the fall

If you are like me, you own a couple of floral dresses that you would like to wear the whole year through and thanks to layering, you can wear your floral dresses throughout the year. However, not all floral dresses are suited for fall. The tip to wearing floral dresses in the fall is to wear floral dresses in dark hues or earthly colors like brown, burgundy, rust, orange, grey, mustard, emerald green....some of these colors are in my floral dress which I purchased on sale from Target  during the summer. Bold colors like red and blue can also be suitable for fall. I am loving  this blue maxi dress here. Once you have the right floral dress picked out based on the shade or color, you just style it with the temperature or weather in mind.

Summer's popular dress style

Happy Thursday ladies; I hope you are having as much fun as I am at least when it comes to the weather. We have short summers here in Minnesota so the aim is always to enjoy the sun and everyday as much as we can. I guess every lady already knows and owns at least one of Summer's popular dresses because they need no introduction. Since the off-the-shoulder dress or cold shoulder dresses started trending three or two summers ago, they have not left the fashion scene and that makes me think they are going to be around much longer. I purchased this particular dress from Loft last summer and it was the vibrant colors of the florals that drew me in. I also got a pair of culottes in the same print. I styled the dress with a straw bag which really is the number one summer bag, a pair of sunnies because we've got to protect those eyes and a pair of black mules and a straw hat which are all summer's essential accessories. What do you think of off-the-shoulder and cold shoulder dresses for summer, yay or nay?

My ruffled floral green summer dress

So, I have had this dress for years; purchased it from TJ Maxx but have only worn it a couple of times because I thought it was shapeless and unflattering. Fast forward to this season and this style of dress is trending; yes trending and I am here for it. I love dresses and I believe dresses are feminine and chic and whether they are floral, printed, plain, maxi, midi, there is a dress for every occasion. What is unique thing about this style of dress is the light fabric and the free flowing style and the small ruffles which can be on the dress bodice, at the hem or all over. It is great for spring and summer and for vacation to a warm location. I styled it with white pumps to add some contrast and white pumps are also the new neutrals. My ring purse is almost invisible against the dress but I'm sure you can still see it. I hope you are having a great week so far. Thanks a lot for stopping by.

Floral dress + Tulle

Happy Thursday 😆 Mother's day is around the corner and it's that time of the year again for mothers to get that special attention that they actually deserve every single day because of all that they do. Since today is Thursday, I'm doing a throwback Thursday look to this dress I wore last year for Father's day! haha!! 😝 Yeah, I said Father's day. One of my friends had a surprise birthday party for her husband on Father's day last year and this is what I wore; this floral and tulle midi dress. The dress is a dupe or more affordable version of this MARCHESA dress here and I loved it so much when I saw it online that I bought it in two colors. I would be wearing the second dress this upcoming Mother's day and will do a blog post on it too. This is the navy blue version of the dress. Can you guess what the color of the other dress is?

You see, I got my Mothers' day dress since last year because the site had a sale and I wanted to get the most bargain and that is really what Mothers do all the time. We try to get the most discounts to help our hubbies and Families get the best in life. We are up early taking care of the kids and our various households. Even those ladies that are single, choose to be single. not yet married....are still strong women doing the most they can in the role that God has bestowed on them as women. Please, take a minute to pause and take care of yourself Ladies. And a very big  "Happy Mothers' day" to you all.

Wearing a Summer dress in the Fall

So, my opinion is that, if you have a favorite dress or outfit, you should be able to wear it at any time of the year if you choose to but you have to tweak it here and there. Granted, Fashion can be restrictive to seasons especially if you live in the United States and some other parts of the world where you have clearly defined seasons. Therefore, it would be odd to wear summer shorts in the Fall or winter. Having said that, there are some pieces that can clearly work for all or most of the seasons and one of such is this my floral pink/lilac dress. It is one of my favorite dresses and I wear it a lot during the summer season and I have blogged about it before here. What I did to wear this dress again in the Fall was to change the accessories. In the summer,

Smmer Dress + Fringe Sandals

Hi friends; happy Monday. This is post is on pictures that have been in my archive for a long time; possibly from last summer and I totally forgot to blog about them. Usually when I'm going out somewhere, I hand my phone to the kids and have them take a couple pics before we get in the car and most of the time, I just forget about the pictures. I recently did some house cleaning on my blog folders and found lots of old pictures. What a great fashion blogger I am 😂 There are

Layered in Florals

Happy Wednesday Friends;  I am sharing this look I wore to Church a few days ago. Although we already had our first snow fall in my city, the temperature was okay and not too cold so I wanted to wear light layers and my new velvet flats blogged about HERE. I threw on a white sweatshirt over my Chicwish floral dress previously blogged about HERE to achieve a "top over a skirt" look and it totally worked because a few friends thought I was wearing a skirt and a top.

It is good to note that Chicwish also had maxi skirts in this same fabric at the time this dress was released for sale two summers ago but why buy a skirt and a dress in the same fabric when you can style a dress as a skirt? This is a question to ponder when you shop for clothes this holiday season. I'm always up for any styling tip that can help me get the most out of my wardrobe or closet.

Memorial Day Outfit Ideas

From Day to Evening

Hi Friends, Memorial day holiday is just around the corner and since it is a national holiday, most people would be home. There are usually lots of social events planned for this holiday which can include services and family gatherings. Such events usually begin in the day time and end with a nice cocktail party, a picnic, potluck or backyard barbecue in the evening. I made some outfit collages on Polyvore that I would like to share here.

Put on those dress clothes in the morning and switch out some accessories for later in the day or put on those dress shoes  in the morning and kick them off for  low heel "strapy" sandals or flats for later in the evening. We know summer is almost here yet it still feels cold in the evenings especially here in the twin cities so, a jacket or trench coat might be needed. Let's plan to enjoy the day with our family and loved ones.

Trends...

I haven't updated my blog in a while and decided to sign in to do a quick post on some of the trends I noticed for this summer. There are so many of them including cropped tops and denim overalls from the eighties but I only picked those trends which I like and which fits my personality as I do not do every trend that shows up on the scene. The ones I would consider for the summer include;

  1. Yellow dresses
  2. Floral dresses
  3. White Shoes
  4. Denim shirt
It is not unusual or a sin for Christians to pay attention to trends or the clothes that they put on their body because God does care about how we look. He wants us to always look clean and fresh everyday just as we sanctify and consecrate ourselves to him daily. God instructed his people through Moses in Exodus 19:10-11
"And the lord said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow and let them wash their clothes and be ready against the third day; for the third day, the lord will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai."

Check out the Polyvore Creations below and see how I styled these items...:) Have a blessed and fruitful week.
