Shoe Lovin'

       Is it too early in the year to share some fashion trends on here? I don't think so! 😆 I'll start first with a disclaimer that this post is not to encourage you to go shopping. Like I always say; this blog is for therapeutic and entertainment purposes only. However, it is a fashion blog so, I would always share fashion trends and style inspiration on here, but this is not a sponsored content or affiliate links marketing post so don't feel compelled to check out the links. Now, that we have got this disclaimer out of the way, can we talk about the sparkly shoe trend of 2023?

Puffy sleeve smocked lavender Dress + heels

 

        Puffy sleeves or bubble sleeves dress is here to stay; this trend is going to be around for a long time even past this season's fall and winter. I purchased this lavender maxi dress from Lulus two summers ago and wore it on multiple occasions this past summer. In my opinion, it is the perfect dress to celebrate the end of summer and to welcome the new season. I did my favorite monochrome styling all the way with lavender pieces and completed the look with my old thrifted purple bag.       So, I got this knit dress from Lulus last fall and I really love it. It's soft and comfotable and I love the midi length. It has about three or four rows of buttons at the back that is not featured in these photos. My only problem with the dress is that it is lighter in color than I thought. The pictures on the website showed it as a darker brown color on the model.

How I styled my neon Pant Suit

         

Can you tell by now that I really love the neon or lime green color trend? Well, sort of....😊 As you may well know if you a frequent reader of this blog; I just love to try on trends especially if I am shopping from my closet. This neon pant suit comprises of separates; a lime green color eyelet blazer that I thrifted years ago and a neon green racer back tank top from Old Navy and this lime green cropped denim pants I purchased from Victorias' Secret years ago when it had a clothing line. The statement piece in the entire outfit is this Betsey Johnson Sandals that I blogged about recently. The floral design and black and white stripes on the heeled sandals make it a show stopper. I think this is my best Betsey Johnson shoe purchase yet and I love that her shoe line is an affordable alternative to Sophia Websters which also features whimsical and fun shoes like this pair. This floral sandals are currently on sale though they are sold out in most of the sizes. The tip I have for styling neon pantsuit is to style textures into the outfit to make the outfit interesting. One way of adding textures is by using pieces from different fabrics like I did with my blazer and bottom or using accessories made from unique materials or fabric like I did with my shoes. I wore this outfit to Church last Sunday and my eight year old daughter took these pictures with my iPhone.

Why I can't get enough of the Animal Prints trend

When you think the animal prints trend is fading away, it re-invents itself in a very chic and edgy way. It was all about the leopard prints last fall and then snake prints came into the scene and the trend is going stronger than ever. The snake prints skirt is the new it-trend of the season and I just can't get enough of it because it is so classy and edgy. It is even better when the skirt is in pleats; you know I love me a pleat skirt. This one I'm wearing is from HM and it sold out pretty quickly because the price was super affordable. There is a similar style here but the price is steep. I also love this dress here sans the sleeves. I wish the sleeves was a little more modest.

Pleated Skirt Sale at Asos

My love for pleated skirt just cannot be explained in a few words. Pleat Skirts are sophisticated and glamorous and edgy and classy at the same time. It is also a style of skirt that can be worn by any lady irrespective of her size or age. This style of skirt can be dressed up or down and can be styled for just about any occasion. Asos is my favorite brand (store) at the moment because it recently released lots of beautiful pleated pieces in beautiful colors and styles. This skirt style has become a classic over the recent years so it is a trend that is around every season. The Pant Suit: A Closet Essential and how to shop for an affordable Set

Pant Suits have been a classic for a very long time and when any fashion piece is a classic, it is not even regarded as a trend anymore. it is way past a trend; It is a wardrobe essential, a staple that every woman should have in their closet and that is the story of the pant suit. I have had this black pant suit for a while now and it is actually separates; a different blazer and pair of black pant paired together to create this pantsuit look previously blogged about here. This spring and summer, pantsuits would be a huge trend and if you do not own one yet, you can check out Asos Website where you can find different styles and colors of pantsuits at affordable price point.



Another tip for shopping for pant suits is by buying the blazer and bottom separately but you really have to take great care to match the blazer to the bottom as much as possible. I purchased most of my pantsuits this way and was able to save money by the mix and match buying and styling. I love the thrill of hunting for the perfect bottom for my blazers. And since most of them are thrifted for less than $10, I'm able to get a good pantsuit for less than $50. If styling (mix and match) is not necessarily your thing and you do not mind splurging on a new pantsuit for over a hundred dollars, then go ahead and check out some of my favorite picks from Asos below.

Spring on the color horizon: Snake Print Pants Set

Spring is on the horizon; just nineteen days out and my excitement makes me wish for a more colorful closet this season probably because of the brutal winter we have been dealing with in the twin cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) I have put this colorful outfit collage set together based on some pieces that would be trending this spring. First of, is the snake print pants (this print is as stylish as ever this season) and if the pants is not up your alley, you can switch it out for skirts while you check out this previous post here. The lilac sweater is an unexpected pairing with the pants and to add more color, throw in a green color translucent clear bag. Do not forget that trench coats and boots are still very needed and stylish for spring. Happy styling. The Sweater Dress: A cold weather Closet Essential

  

If there is a style of dress we have to own in our closet in the cold weather month, it has to be the sweater dress. It is a very comfortable style of dress to wear when the temperatures drop and the styling options are endless. You can pair your sweater dress with a pair of sneakers or flats when the weather is not that cold and you can style with tights and boots when the temperature gets really, really cold. A sweater dress can also be layered with denim jackets, bomber jackets and long coats. The dress I am wearing here is an old piece from my closet and it is in my favorite color purple. I styled it with a pair of black tights and boots and completed the look with tassel earrings and a printed head wrap which is actually in animal prints. Since this is the season for wearing sweater dresses, there are so many options available on sale at different stores and I have linked a few in my shopping links below. However, I was not able to find an affordable sweater dress in a purple or lilac color to add to the list. What are your thoughts on sweater dresses?

We know accessories can make or break an outfit and this fall, the statement belt is that one accessory that you need to elevate your fall ensemble. All you need to do is to cinch your plaid blazer at the waist and the look is changed instantly from boring to chic. I know there are so many designer brand belts especially Gucci that has been trending since last summer but we don't need to splurge to be able to get a stylish belt this fall. The prairie dress or vintage dress (sometimes called the tea dress) is a huge trend this fall and I am loving it. These dresses that used to be regarded as matronly or too prude are now very chic and edgy. The dresses are usually high necked, sometimes smocked or ruffled and can be midi or maxi dresses. This Gap dress here is a prairie dress but it is listed as a midi dress on the site. I'm also loving this J.Crew olive color ruffle sweater dress which is a kind of modern twist on the prairie dress trend. The color is great for fall and the style would be flattering on most body types. This leopard print midi dress is also very cute and edgy but the price is quite steep unless you don't mind splurging on labels 😊 I think this fall dress trend is a carryover from those gorgeous ruffle midi and maxi dresses that were a huge trend this past summer.

Fall Fashion Trend: The Belt

While we are still on the topic of fall fashion trends, can we talk about statement belts? I am sure you have noticed the gucci statement belt trend that has been going on for a while. Yours sincerely here has a love-hate relationship with this trend. Yes, this is a personal blog so I can express my personal opinion on a fashion piece; haha! But what do you think of this trend? While I love the idea of a belt being a statement piece to elevate an outfit, I just do not love any designer clothing piece or accessory with bold or oversized monogram. I just think it's tacky and that's why I don't care much for the gucci belt trend and then can we also talk about the price? At a minimum of $350, It is definitely a splurge and if this trend disappears after a season or two, the price might not be worth it. If you just like the idea of a statement belt like me, you might want to consider the very affordable version at Asos here and here. The secret to having great style is pairing high end and low end items together. At the end, whatever you choose, it is up to you to style and wear it confidently.

Shoe Lovin' - Snake Print Ankle Boots

Snake prints boots is a major trend this fall and the trend is a twist on the cowboy boots trend. In other words, cowboy boots are trending for fall and the snake print boots is derivative of the trend. The boots add an unexpected interest to an outfit and styling it is really easy. You can pair them with almost any fall colors; off whites, all black, oranges, burgundy...it just goes with most outfits. This pair featured here is very edgy and chic and presently on sale and you can check it on the J. Crew website here. 

The Denim Jacket: A Closet Essential

So, fall is upon us, no kidding. It's starting to feel like fall in my city and the trees are starting to lose their leaves and change colors. I have started to pull out my outerwear one by one from my closet and the first grab was this denim jacket. I know this is a closet piece that every one should own; men and children too. It is so versatile and can be thrown over any outfit; dresses, shorts, pants and skirts and it is also a perfect layering piece for early fall or any time there is a significant drop in the weather. I also take a denim jacket with me whenever I travel by air or by road and if you don't own one yet, I say you should. There are lots of affordable styles in the stores or if you need a good vintage and affordable denim jacket, you can stop by your local thrift store and stop by the outer wear aisle; plus the cost of dry cleaning, you can get a great denim jacket for about $15.

Animal prints are out in full force this fall in different shades and in different styles; think zebra prints like we see in this Asos dress here and unusual shade like this pink leopard prints dress here. The different kind of prints; leopard, cheetah, zebra and the unusual colors (shade) is the twist to the trend this year. All leopard prints accessories are welcome too; belts, scarfs, bags and shoes.
