Summer Floral Dress + Straw Bag

Another floral dress on the blog today; I have been wearing a lot of them lately and that is mostly because I wore mostly solids all through past winter and I feel like I need to take a break. The last time I wore florals in the winter or cold season, I blogged about it here. Now back to this maxi dress I purchased from Boohoo a couple of years ago and have worn a couple of times and about two times already this summer.

The print, color and style of this maxi dress is beautiful, and the quality of the fabric is great compared to a couple of pieces I have bought from Boohoo before which had very low quality and had to be returned. I styled the dress with a pair of tassel earrings for some statement effect and completed the look with my trusted rattan clutch and a white belt to cinch the waist, plus a pair of heels. Floral dresses and rattan or straw bags are like bread and butter; they go well together. Thanks so much for reading. I wish you all of God's blessings in the new month 💯

Lounge at Home Outfit: Summer Shirt Dress

Ï»y lounge at home outfit this summer has been comfy, breezy dresses; linen and cotton dresses to be exact. I know knit dresses and sets are trending at the moment but if it is sunny and hot out, I would settle for a cotton or linen dress over knits. Plus, I get to wear knits a lot in the Fall and Winter time so it is nice to wear something more comfortable even if it is not trending. This lavender color J. Jill Dress fits the bill for comfort and style. It is 100% cotton and the shirt dress design and bold lavender color enhances the style. I decided to style a monochromatic look by pairing the dress with this purple square toed mules and multi color statement Earrings. How are you lounging at home? Please, be safe and well. Thanks so much for reading.

Spring Layering: Black and White Maxi Dress

I have had this bold black and white striped dress for years now and never really wore it until recently. The reason it lay in my closet for so long was because of the trendy style of the dress at the time. The style was just everywhere in the spring and summer of 2016 and I tell you; I really get put off when a particular style or fashion piece gets too trendy. I purchased this piece from eshakti at the time and there were other variations of it by other retailers like this Style here. So, the dress did sit in the closet for a before I decided to wear it to church a few weeks ago. Since the weather was still cold, I layered a black long sleeve tee underneath the dress for warmth and completed the look with a pair of black ankle boots, a black purse and red statement earrings for a pop of color. A long sleeve tee is the simplest piece to layer sleeveless dresses with in the cold season and the black color tee I am wearing here pairs effortlessly with this dress and creates the look of a one piece.

Styling the snake print trend with a small accessory

The snake print trend is gradually pushing the leopard prints trend into the shadows; you see it everywhere at least on social media; boots, clothing, bags...This trend can be overwhelming if it is not done right and that is why this post is on how to style the snake print trend using a small accessory like a belt. The belt might be a very casual piece or small accessory but it does add interest to an outfit. For this look, I cinched my lilac color cardigan on the waist with a snake skin skinny belt and paired the cardigan with a lace dress converted into a skirt by the layering; another way of restyling our dresses as a transition piece. I like to add bursts of color to my wardrobe in the fall and my go to color is usually blue but this season, I have been drawn to lilacs and purple; the pastel color that was on trend in the spring. I completed my look with a pair of sparkly earrings from J. Crew and by the way, my cardigan is from J.Crew too but it has since sold out. You can check the shopping links below if you are interested in this pairing. Purple and lilac are some of my favorite colors. Also, I have not gotten into boots quite yet this fall because the weather still allows for a simple pair of mules like the pair I am wearing; haha!😜

The right floral dress to wear in the fall

If you are like me, you own a couple of floral dresses that you would like to wear the whole year through and thanks to layering, you can wear your floral dresses throughout the year. However, not all floral dresses are suited for fall. The tip to wearing floral dresses in the fall is to wear floral dresses in dark hues or earthly colors like brown, burgundy, rust, orange, grey, mustard, emerald green....some of these colors are in my floral dress which I purchased on sale from Target  during the summer. Bold colors like red and blue can also be suitable for fall. I am loving  this blue maxi dress here. Once you have the right floral dress picked out based on the shade or color, you just style it with the temperature or weather in mind.

Yellow Polka dots Maxi Dress + White Mules

Happy Monday Friends; I hope everyone reading this blog post today is doing great. There is so much going on in the world right now and so much catastrophe that when we wake up in the morning and are strong and can go about our daily duties, we have enough reason to give God thanks. I'm very thankful for a lot of things including this outfit I am wearing that I purchased from Shein for under $30. I had heard so much about the site; that their prices are very affordable and I wanted to test out the quality of their Fashion. The pvc bag I am holding here is also from the store. I must say I was very impressed when my items arrived. The quality of this dress and the other pvc bags that I ordered is very good.  This is not a sponsored post, just my own opinion and I'm just going to say I recommend Shein as a shopping site; at least you get good quality for the affordable price. It might not be the best quality but it's good enough. And with the way trends come and go so fast these days, you don't have to splurge on any item any more at a high end brand when you can make a purchase at an affordable site.

How to style: Maxi Dress

The Maxi dress is such a huge trend this summer and I know styling it for casual event is easy-breezy. If you want to glamorize a simple maxi dress, here is some inspiration for you. Pair the dress with a pair of statement earrings like the drop or chandelier earrings and a statement bag and a pair of cute mules and you are good to go.

Maxi Dress + a Hat

Happy Thursday Friends; first of all, I want to say a big "Thank-you" to everyone that stops by this blog. I really appreciate your readership and support. I do not have the best pictures or the best layout and I'm tired of apologizing for my picture quality on here (which actually are taken by my kids with my iPhone camera) but I'm really amazed that other bloggers and visitors do not mind the pictures and they keep stopping by to read and leave comments. So, thank-you all so much. I really appreciate you. Blogging has nothing to do with soliciting for "likes" and "comments" but really all about the love for "Publishing and Sharing."

So, I wore this outfit to Church yesterday for our midweek bible study and you might not know it from the blurry pictures but I am layered-up like an onion. I wore a tank-top maxi black dress over a turtle neck sweater dress and wore my over the knee boots all in this one outfit (due to the freezing temperature) and also a long camel color coat that reaches down to my ankles which I took off to take these pictures 🙆  Then, I flipped on a burgundy color floppy hat for extra warmth and pop of color. Yes! I got the cold taken care of! 😂

Do you know what else I'm happy to take care of? 2017! Yes, 2017 is my year, my baby, and I'm going to take control of it and take care of it the whole year through and by this I mean that I have all things under control by the grace of God. And to take care of it, I'll be doing all I need to succeed according to God's word. I'll read my bible more, pray more and show the love of God to others. Thanks so much for reading.
