All Red Outfit: Red Wool Coat

Red is the color for the month of February, symbolizing "Heart health month" and also one of  the celebratory colors of love for those who celebrate Valentine and of course, February is also Black History Month. Red is low key one of my favorite colors and my favorite way of styling it is by going the way of monochrome.

I wore this outfit to Church last Sunday; a red knit dress, red wool coat and reddish brown leather boots to add texture to the outfit. I purchased the red wool coat from Metrostyle years ago and I currently love this olive color lapel coat here. The red sweater bag is an old thrifted piece. You can find similar knit or sweater bags on Etsy.

A knit dress is an essential piece this season

How is everyone doing? I know we all can't wait for this year to get done because there is so much faith in us that the new year is going to usher in great things. I am very excited for Christmas which is just two days away and I am also excited about this knit dress which I got from Lulus. It is one of the best purchases I ever made. The wine color midi dress with bubble sleeves is very appropriate for this season because of the Christmassy color. I also like that it is very modest and chic at the same time. I decided to style it with same color of accessories to create a monochromatic look. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Knit maxi dress for lounge wear

ㄥounge wear outfits have been in for a while now since we are all stuck at home during this pandemic. While the hype has been all about lounge pant and short sets, I have been loving knit dresses and have been wearing a lot of dresses. I would reserve the knit pants and pants in general for the cold season which is almost here. This green knit dress is an old purchase from Gap and it's very comfortable and feels great on the skin. This white pouch bag is a recent addition to my pouch bags. I love that it is stylish and edgy and the color is great for a subtle pop of color. Bottega Veneta did great by bringing back this dumpling, pouch bag trend along with the square toed shoe trend.  Many retailers have made more affordable inspired pieces based off of Bottegas. You can check out my previous post here if you need to shop for similar bags. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Lavender Monochrome: Adjusting our lives to our new normal

𐐑It's so obvious that life as we know it is definitely going to be different after this Covid19 Pandemic. The world we used to know changed very quickly right in front of our eyes. I pray that our lives return to normal as much as possible when this whole pandemic is over; that we are able to hold hands and hug our family and friends as before; be able to gather together to worship and celebrate and other wonderful things we are missing out on right now. However, I would hope that we keep doing some things we are doing presently even when the pandemic is over; like, keeping our hygiene up (washing our hands frequently) and continuously being aware of our environment with the hope of keeping everything clean and sanitized. Also, I would hope that we cut down on our frivolous waste and concentrate on things that are important.

Grey Monochrome Outfit and the secret to staying happy

appy Monday Friends; I hope you had an awesome weekend and if you are in the United States, happy Presidents's day. Schools are closed today and some employees get today off as a holiday and this means an extra day to get things done or laze around. I'm glad my kids do not have school today and I look forward to enjoying the day with my family. I wore this monochrome outfit to church a few weeks ago; the grey bodysuit tee paired with this ruffle tiered maxi skirt.

Styling Neutrals: Tweed Waist tie Coat + Wide legged Pant

Monochrome styling is one of my favorite way of styling neutrals aside from pairing them with whites like I did here in a similar styling. However, when styling neutral colors like tan, beige and light browns, it is essential to mix textures into the outfit or the whole look would look like a uniform. In my styling here, I wore a tan color turtle neck top that I wore and talked about here over tan colored trousers and pumps and threw on an oversized tweed tie waist coat over the look. Tweed we know, is very rich in texture and the leopard prints bag also has some texture to it. All these pieces together add some interest to the outfit. The tweed coat is an old purchase from Target which comes in quite handy every winter. I was not able to find affordable tweed coats to link up to this post so I linked khaki trench coats instead. What other styling tip do you have for styling neutrals? Do share in the comments below and thank you so much for stopping by here.
