It is the season to wear plaid

There is something about cold weather and plaid for me that I really cannot explain. When the temperature starts to drop at the start of the fall/autumn season, I get the longing to add this particular print to my wardrobe. The entrance of the shirt jacket "aka" Shacket (Shirt-Jacket) into the fashion scene this season, is another reason why I love this print. If you must know, the shirt jacket has been around for ages as men's wear and it slowly got into women's fashion recently. I loved this H&M piece a lot but it quickly sold out and since I really wanted to try out the trend, I decided to go thrifting for it and sure enough, I found a few pieces to add to my wardrobe this season.

Plaid Jacket + Sweater Dress

Happy Tuesday Friends 😃 This is just a quick work wear post. Like I said in my previous post; the snow is starting to melt and we are experiencing a  brief warm-up in what our meteorologists call the "January thaw." So, I decided to ditch the boots for this block heeled pumps. As we know, block heels are trending but this pair I have on is a bit old and what I love about it is the wooden heels; I can step on slushy snow and not be scared that my shoe heels would be ruined. So, this pair gets its turn over and over during the winter season and it does add a pop of color to any outfit too.

For the rest of the outfit, I just threw a plaid jacket over a tan color sweater dress and since the weather is still cold and dry, I put on a pair of polka dot stockings. This is a very formal and yet fun outfit. I could have used a belt on the sweater dress too but I decided not to because the dress has an elaborate turtle neck and a belt around the waist though stylish, would have been a bit stuffy and uncomfortable. I shop my closet a lot during the winter season and there will be more winter fashion styling on here. Thanks so much for stopping by here and for your thoughts/comments. I love you for reading 😙

Before the Storm

Now this was Minnesota a few days ago before we got the snow storm and accumulated almost a foot of snow. These pictures were taken sometime last week and fast forward to now (a week after) and everything is different. We're still plowing the snow and cleaning up after the storm. I have started driving like a 90 year old lady again; it will take a few more snow falls to get back to the winter rhythm but I hope we never have any more storms. Let's take it nice and easy; a little bit at a time..:-). I know God is listening...:-).

Plaid Jacket: thrifted
Tee and Denim: Loft
Bag: random (old)
Shoes: VS

Did you notice that I took a break from those pointed toe shoes? Well, this is almond toe and pretty old. I purchased it from Victorias secret over eight years ago; old, I know...:-). I don't think they make this style anymore. It's kind of like pointed toe with platforms and a middleman between round toes and pointed toe shoes. I'm not a shoe designer so, I'll leave the rambling at that...:-). I love the color though; that's why I'm still holding unto them.

Plaid is definitely a cool print for fall. Do you know that I thrifted this jacket for $5.99? Well, you know now...:-). I went in to some of my favorite consignment/thrift store recently to look for a leather skirt and I ended up scoring some good pieces. I'll show you what I got soon. I hope everyone is doing great and well?

Easy does it....

Plaid Jacket: thrifted
Pants: Loft
Tee and Scarf: Target
Shoes: DSW

I wish I could take the clock back or wave a wand to take the weather back to how it looked on the day I took these pictures. It was a cool fall morning and the weather was beautiful; a little chilly but bearable. It is still officially fall on the calendar but Old Man Winter has crashed the party. We had several inches  of snow across the state the last couple of days and we are dealing with frigid and freezing temperatures right now coupled with dangerous wind chill. This is the time of the year when a lot of Minnesotans question why they actually live in this state. As for me, I admit it is indeed a difficult time of the season but it has kind of helped to slow things down a bit at this time of the year which is very much welcome in my own opinion. A lot of people are spending more time indoors with their loved ones as opposed to running around in the malls chasing that sale. Sometimes it is not all about that gift but about the love, time and attention that is bestowed on others.

As we all know, there is always much frenzy during the holiday season as most people make last minute effort to get their goals met and get ready for the new year. There is already consequences of such frenzy reported in the news as speed related crashes are being reported here and there. I pray for God to comfort the families of all those that are affected by these tragedies.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

My Verses for the Day:

Ecclesiastes 2:11

Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labor that I had labored to do: and, behold, all [was] vanity and vexation of spirit, and [there was] no profit under the sun.

Matthew 16:26

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
