The understated, elegant Holiday Piece you need in your Closet

Velvet is a fabric that is associated with luxury and festivities and celebration, and velvet outfits have been used in the design and style of party and holiday outfits for years. A velvet outfit like a pantsuit, jumpsuit or a dress, is the understated, elegant piece you need in your closet for the holiday celebration. When you are just tired of the sequins, lace, tulle and silk party dresses, then think of velvet.

The outfits in this post are the different velvet outfits I have worn over the years to celebrate the holidays. You can click the link at the bottom of each outfit to read the blog post about the outfits. I hope this blog post would inspire you to shop for an affordable velvet outfit that you can wear for a long time. Thanks so much for reading.

Styling my blue velvet dress for Christmas two ways

How do you want to celebrate Christmas this year? It's definitely going to be different for almost everyone for sure. For me, It's going to be a quiet celebration. Usually, I would host Christmas parties at home but since we are social distancing this year, I'm going to celebrate with my immediate family so, there is no need for elegant, fancy attire. I'll reserve the big puffy dresses for next year; haha! 😀

Dressing up in Green for the Holiday Season: A Throwback Look

á™”hen dressing up for the Christmas holiday, the outfits options are endless based on textures; lace, velvet, sequins, faux fur, tulle, plaid....and then when it comes to colors, we are a bit limited as we mostly try to dress up in the season's colors especially when we are dressing up in solid colors. For example, most ladies would prefer to dress up in red for the holidays when choosing a solid color outfit that is not made sequins or velvet. Green is the other not so common holiday outfit color which is somewhat trending this season.

Holiday Style: Green Circle Skirt + Plaid

Hi Friends; happy last day of the year or happy New Year’s Eve. We all know that the Christmas holiday is over so I'm sure you are surprised seeing me in a Christmas-color outfit on new year's eve as opposed to sequins and glitter. Do not worry I have my new year's eve outfit picked already for our New Year's eve service in Church later tonight. This outfit is what I wore to church yesterday; the last Sunday of the year. I decided to go in these colors to remind myself that Christmas celebration really should be everyday. The reason for the celebration of the holiday is to remind us of the birth of our savior Jesus Christ who came to earth in human form, born of holy conception and died on the cross and resurrected three days later to give us the gift of salvation. It's just an awesome feeling to be reminded of this truth everyday of the year and I hope you believe and have faith in redemption too.

Green Velvet mini dress

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas celebration. Mine was very beautiful; great time spent with family. My family means so much to me and I'm grateful to God for bestowing his blessings on me. My little boy turned four on Christmas day too and it was a double celebration in my home. I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas celebration and that you understand that Jesus Christ is the reason for the season. I am thank-ful for everyone that has been reading this blog all these years and I say

Plaid blazer and Velvet Maxi dress holiday look

Hi everyone, happy Sunday. So, this outfit is what I wore to church yesterday; a purple maxi velvet dress and a plaid jacket totally on trend but inexpensive. Since this is the season of sharing and giving, we should not forget to shop and spend our money wisely. In the spirit of the season, I decided to style this holiday look by shopping my whole look from a place that is usually ignored by most people in the community. I went to Arc's Value Village Thrift Store in my neighborhood and shopped this whole look excluding the plaid blazer which I have had for years. The thrift store which is very clean and organized with stylists on board to help you get the best shopping experience (if you choose to book them) has been serving the twin cities for over 35 years and their profits which they get from donation, shoppers and volunteers go towards helping people with intellectual and physical disabilities. You can read more about it here.
