Colorful Berets you need to complete your Holiday Outfit

Berets have been around for a long time and have added interest, textures and color to the outfits of stylish women for years. They might have originated from the wardrobes of Parisian women before spreading to other parts of the globe and now become a huge trend this fall. Berets are so stylish now more than ever before as they come in different fabrics and designs as opposed to the traditional plain wool or cashmere beret.

A colorful beret like the bright red pictured above found on the Shein Website can add a pop of color to any outfit. It can be paired with a monochrome outfit like an all black or all neutral outfit and can also be paired with florals and other patterns. The traditional wool beret also comes accessorized with pearls and sequins which add textures and interest to a regular or basic outfit. Then we have leather berets, plaid berets, sequins and even animal prints berets. 'want to add this stylish accessory to your wardrobe this fall and winter? Check out the selections below.

Apron style Palazzo Pants + Leopard Prints Scarf

Hi everyone, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving; mine was beautiful. I always appreciate it when the kids get time off from school and we are able to just relax and spend time together as a family. I didn't invite any one over this Thanksgiving and I also declined other invitations extended by others. I just wanted to spend the day with my intimate family and we had so much fun cooking all our meals, eating dinner and relaxing by the fire place late into the night while we watched movies and also listened to music. After God, family is everything and we all need to spend more time with our family and also put our focus on our kids and spouses and I believe the world will be better off when we do this. There is so much craziness going on in the world right now. Well, thank God for all things and thank God for the Thanksgiving holiday too because we are all able to slow down and reconnect with our loved ones.

Leopard prints tunic + denim

Leopard prints is trending in several different colors this season and this is what makes the trend so much fun. The classic brown color prints is still a big deal and holding strong but having a mix of the colors makes for a fun wardrobe. I purchased this greyish, black leopard prints silk tunic from T. J. Maxx years ago and it was actually from the plus size department at the store. I liked the unique color, soft fabric and style of the top then but never really got to wear it over the years because I thought the top was a little too big and the trend faded away. I was excited to try it on again a few days ago and was even more excited when I realized that it wasn't really all that big plus I have gained some weight over the years too; haha! 😃

White button down shirt + Denim

Happy Friday everyone. Friday is for casual style and for me, casuals in the most basic sense means denim. Today, I styled my denim pants with an oversized white button down shirt and white pumps which is a pairing you are going to see a lot this summer. You can wear this look to visit friends, to go shopping and even to hang out with hubby or friends. White is a color I used to shy away from previously most especially because I'm always around my kids and from experience, whites and kids don't go together nicely 😑 However, this summer, I'm embracing the white color trend because of the clean fresh look and how classy it looks plus my kids are grown now and they know Mom needs to still look glam while taking care of them 😆 The white sunnies added some whimsy to the look and the cuff bracelet which I purchased from Forever 21 several years ago added a little bit of color to the look too.  Are you up for styling whites with denim this summer? Have a blessed weekend.

Faux fur Vest and Orange Cords

Holla! 😁 Happy Wednesday. Just a quick post here starting with good news from my neck of the woods here in the state of Minnesota. The weather is starting to warm up; woot! woot!! It's 40*F today and the temperature is going to be in the upper thirties to forties all through next week. Anything above 10*F is always good news here so you can tell how excited I am 😅 The only downside is that the snow is starting to melt and so there is the problem of slushy snow and icy driveways. This is one more reason why I like to wear heels at this time; the chances of my pants being muddied or soiled with wet snow is less.

I figured it was time to loosen up a bit fashion wise; so away with the heavy coats and layering and in comes this simple outfit; a faux fur vest over a turtle neck sweater and a pair of bright orange colored corduroy pants; definitely time to bring on the colors. I have this love-hate relationship with orange colors; sometimes, I love it and most times I don't. Somehow, I own a lot of orange colored pieces in my closet and I'm not too sure how that happened 😏 Well, if it is in the closet, we got to wear it right? What do you think of orange color pieces/clothing? Thanks a lot for reading as always.

JCrew: two trends in one

Happy Friday Lovelies. I hope our week was great and we are excited for the weekend..:-) Fridays and weekends are for casual styles (at least most of the time) and my post for today is about this casual style I wore a while back. I call this Jcrew top "2 for 1" because it is a combination of two trends; plaid and off-the-shoulder top. The reviews on this top were not too great on the site when it was released because a lot of people felt it had no fit and ran too large. However, It did not deter me from buying the top but I waited until it went on sale and surprisingly it was sold out in my size. I ended up getting a top two sizes larger than I normally wear and I figured I could just give it out as a gift if it doesn't fit.

Lo and behold, the fit was not too bad after all and it paired nicely with my light wash denim pants. What I am really saying from this chit-chat is that; you have to make sure you read reviews of items if you are making purchases online. You have to be informed about a product or an outfit so that you know what exactly you are paying for. Aside from comments on the piece of clothing itself, make sure you also pay attention to any comments about customer service and return policy. I for one, would never shop at a store that does not have quality products/clothing and good customer service and I'll never promote such a store or service. JCrew is a great store and I love their clothes and customer service so far including this trendy, plaid, off the shoulder top.

Casual in blue

Its been a while since I posted a casual look on here; I had second thoughts about these pics though. It was a Saturday morning and I had just had a big breakfast and had bags packed in the car for a family road trip. I realized later when I was looking at the pics in my phone that my overfilled stomach was bulging under my tee...lol. Next time, I would suck my stomach in as much as I can or I'll just avoid taking pictures after a big meal altogether.

I had fun on the trip and it was a road trip to remember. I did mention in my one of my previous posts that I made a short trip to Africa too after nearly ten years since my last visit. It's been an eventful summer for me. I hope you have been enjoying the summer too. A walk in the park with family and friends can also be as fun and rewarding as can be. Would you also post very casual looks on your blog? What are your thoughts...

Teal and Grid

I said a while ago that I was going to start sharing some work inspired looks here every now and then and this outfit is just one of such. The sandals might not be appropriate for a regular work day but it would do just fine on a casual Friday. The tie neck blouse was my favorite in the summer and I actually bought this in so many other colors too from Loft. The blouses are very silky and soft and pair so well with blazers. The grid pant from talbots is something different from the grid midi skirt that was trending in the summer.

This is just a quick post here and since I have so many pictures saved in my phone; I would try to put up at least one post a day. I hope the weather is great wherever you are? I wish you a great and wonderful weekend but I'll be back soon.

Purple and High-Low

Hi Friends, I hope your week is going great so far. It has been very hot over here in the last few days and it was so scorching hot last sunday that I had no choice but to wear this sleeveless, sheer dress to church. The dress is a simple high-low dress that I purchased from Forever 21 a long time back. The pics were taken with my cell phone as usual and it did not really capture the dress the way it should. I made a trip to the fabric store and bought some yards of faux fur fabric on saturday and I made this clutch in less than an hour. The floral pumps are from heels.com. We had a barbecue at the lake-aide right after the service and it was just a fun weekend.

Holy Chic on Denim Midi

This graphic tee is one of my favorites because I fell in love with it the first time I saw it online. I like how catchy and bold the "graphics" is and I used it in my Polyvore collages here and here. Some say it is a play on words and that it refers to a bad phrase "Holy $h_t!"but to me it is just the literal and simple meaning of the phrase. However, I am not saying I am super holy or perfect but I am getting there...hehehe..:-).

I paired the tee with this denim midi skirt I purchased recently  from T. J Maxx and it must have sold out quickly because I got this from the sales rack and it was the only one available (in that location probably). There is another option on Chicwish here. This outfit was meant to combat the heat we experienced in Minneapolis today and I am planning on dealing with the summer heat this year in more graphic muscle tees. I am currently eyeing this cute piece here and here. This tee reminds me that I am still working on my "holiness;" (spirituality). christianity is a continuous process and so long as we stay on the course everything will be okay. Love also is the greatest ingredient for the Christian life because Jesus said the greatest gift of all is love.

1 Corinthians 13 New Living Translation (NLT)

Love Is the Greatest

13 If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it;[a] but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages[b] and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! 10 But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless.
11 When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. 12 Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.[c] All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

13 Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Pop of Yellow

The weekend is over but I am glad it is a holiday tomorrow and that means we are going to have a short work week and that is so awesome. I went to a friend's graduation ceremony today; he has been a practicing pharmacist for year before he decided to go back to school for his masters degree. And it was quite great that he finished the program at the intended time even with family obligations. A very big congratulations to the graduating class of 2015 everywhere; way to go!

I decided to put on this jumpsuit for the occasion because it is so fun and a bit trendy at the same time. I added a pop of color with my yellow heels because yellow is the color for the season and I like the way, yellow, black and white go so well together. If you are able to overlook the inconvenience of going to the ladies room, jumpsuits are very great party outfits. It has been raining a lot over here in Minneapolis and I hope it is nice and dry where you are.
