Christmas Outfit Inspiration: Burgundy color Outfit

I have been blogging about work wear a lot on the blog lately or let's say in my previous posts. This is another recycled post from my archives where I am sharing an outfit inspiration on what to wear to work this holiday season. As usual, the monochrome formula works for me every time. Burgundy color monochrome work outfit

Burgundy is a color that has been trending for a while now and it happens to be one of my favorite colors that I have enjoyed styling for years especially in the fall and winter months. For this look, I am wearing a monochrome look; a long-sleeved burgundy sweater over burgundy color corduroy pants that I got from LOFT a while ago. I threw my boucle, tweed-like coat over the outfit and completed the look with black accessories.

Monochrome Look: Brown top + Satin skirt

This is an old look from the archives, and it is a monochrome look as usual which has really been my favorite way of styling in recent times. The brown top is a panty suit which is very great for work wear; you tuck in and stay tucked in all day without any fuss. Again, the mix of textures is the best way to style a monochrome look so the outfit don't look like a uniform or boring. My floral pumps add extra interest to the whole look and the orange purse, a little punch of color. Thanks so much for reading.

What to wear to work the week before Christmas

Christmas is a few days away and I can still feel the buzz about the holiday even amidst the pandemic. If you are an essential worker who goes to work away from home and you need some inspiration on what to wear to work this week, think no further. This is the time to get out your plaids: skirts, pants, scarfs or coats. It is also the time to get out your glitter pumps. If you work in a corporate setting, a modest length plaid skirt is a great piece of clothing to wear to work this season. Also, replace your nude color shoes or pumps with a pair of sparkly or glitter pumps. And do not forget the coat. A great color coat of very good quality is a must-have for this season too. Reddy for Christmas: The red Pantsuit

ᘓhristmas is here and it's my most beautiful and miraculous time of the year. When I look around, I see all these beautiful colors of red, greens, gold and lots of sparkle that instantly lift my mood. This must be why a red or green outfit is a no brainer for this season. There are lots of beautiful dresses; solids, sequins, tulle, glitter...that reflects the Christmas holiday season but then, have you thought of the Pantsuit as an alternative to a dress for a holiday outfit? Have you thought of a red pantsuit? Well, I did this year and here it goes...

How to style a Sweat Shirt for Work.

I do not wear sweatshirts often but this piece I am wearing here is my favorite and it comes into heavy rotation in the cold season. Another sweatshirt that I own and have styled on the blog is this cropped graphic sweatshirt here. We all know that sweatshirts are very casual and are really meant for lounging (if it is really oversized) and occasional trips to the grocery store unless you are a high school or college student. I am showing in this post how I styled a sweatshirt for work; and not so formal work, that is. If you work in a very corporate space, sweat shirts are a complete no-no. However, these days, a lot of jobs are more relaxed when it comes to work attire and work wear has become less formal day by day. For this look, I paired my cream color sweat shirt with a very long plaid pants and topped the look with a wine color coat since the weather is still chilly. It is a very simple look that can be worn to work and the key is to keep the whole look simple and classy. My tips for styling this look include;

Keep it neutral and fitted:

If you choose to style a sweatshirt for an outing where you would like to look well put together, ensure that the sweatshirt is of a neutral color like creams, browns, black and very light greys. Stay away from very loud colors and definitely stay away from whites. A white sweatshirt screams too casual for me. Another tip is to ensure that the sweatshirt is a little fitted. It can be a little boxy too depending on the kind of pants you want to wear with it.

White turtle neck Sweater + Black Pencil Skirt

The pencil skirt is a closet essential and there are very good reasons why every lady should have one or two in her closet. It is a classic piece that can be dressed up or down, formal or casual and it's so versatile when it comes to styling. I realized last summer that my closet was in need of a black midi pencil skirt and I was on the lookout for an affordable piece of great quality. I talked about this skirt in my recent Winter Wish List and if you need one, check it out here. For this post, I styled my pencil skirt with a white ribbed turtle neck sweater and a pair of ankle boots. This is a simple way to style a pencil skirt for winter in the winter season. My dark brown wool coat made the pairing of a plain black and white outfit more interesting. I added the red fringe statement earring for a pop of color. The weather was a bit bearable when I wore this outfit so I did not have to wear some tights or stockings. A pair of black knee high boots is a good choice too when it is really cold and you need to add more layers to the outfit.

Styling Green Pants for Work: Green Ankle Pants + Plaid Blazer

There was a huge snow fall last night; it actually started yesterday's evening to this morning and the temperature is in sub zeroes so, this is not what I am wearing today. It is an outfit I wore last week and it is suited for more moderate temps and probably more appropriate for spring and speaking of which; I'm really looking forward to the spring weather. Did I mention that classes and school was canceled today for most part of Minnesota? Yes, the cold and snow is just not a good combination. My kids are home presently as I type this post. Still thinking of spring; I'm looking forward to styling all my blazer's for a warmer season.

Work Wear: Long green Coat + Color block bag

Green is my next best color close to purple so, you can imagine how excited I got when I found this long green coat for about $20 at the thrift store years ago. It's always in rotation during the winter time and I previously blogged about it here. The craftmanship and quality of the coat is impeccable and it's in great condition. I decided to pair the coat today with wide legged trousers from Ann Taylor and a white funnel neck top. A black pair of boots and this thrifted color-block bag completed the look. I love the way the colorful bag infused colors into the somewhat monochrome outfit and speaking of the bag; I pulled it out of storage where it has been for years and this is the first time I am styling it on the blog. The bag has the letters NYC inscribed on it which I believe stands for New York City or New York & Co. which is a clothing store. . I tried to trace the original store where the bag originated from but was unsuccessful . Also, I could not find a similar bag like this any where to link to this post save for the Gucci glazed wicker bag which is quite pricy. And this brings me again to the topic I talked about in my last post. You'll always find unique and one of a kind items at the thrift/consignment if you know where to look.

Snake Print pencil skirt

It may still be the heart of the winter season but it is not too early to start planning our Spring and summer outfit. I saw this snake print pencil skirt recently and fell in love with it. It's so beautiful and sleek and this made me to think of all the many ways a snake print skirt can be styled. For work, I'll pair it pair it with a crisp white top and accessorize it with neutral accessories so the skirt can be a statement piece. A green pair of earrings and statement heels and bag would complete the look; a very simple and chic outfit.

The Animal Prints Skirt to wear to Work

Happy Monday everyone. I am sharing a quick look that I wore a few weeks ago and it deals with styling animal prints for work. This print that is trending a great deal can be styled for a conservative work environment when it is done right. I chose this white color cheetah prints skirt that is an old purchase from Target and believe me when I tell you that this white and black color cheetah prints outfit is more appropriate for work than the regular brown color animal prints like this one here and here. (Although. it also depends on how it is styled and how strict your work environment is when it comes to fashion) To make my skirt more work appropriate, I added a black color blazer which I layered over a high neck short sleeved sweater. So, while plaid blazers have been trending for a while now, I am thinking of plaid skirts and have been on the hunt for one. The plaid skirts I have seen so far online always look more like gingham prints than plaid and so I decided to include one in this styling post. The first look above with the blue plaid skirt is a summery look because it was paired with a white sleeveless blouse and a pair of chic Pumps. The second set below is styled for Fall because of the darker colors and the chic sock boots. The secret or tip for styling plaid skirts is to keep every other clothing item like the top, blouse and accessories simple. Happy styling.

Casual Work Style: Stripped shirt + Denim

Happy Monday friends; I hope your week is off to a good start. I'm going to make this post very short. I'm wearing a stripped button down shirt over grey color denim for a casual work day. Hey! I know it is Monday and we are supposed to be all dressed up and ready for business on the first day of the work week but you know, not every one works in a formal work environment.

Grey Culottes + Stiletto heels

Happy Tuesday Friends; just a short post today to celebrate the warm weather; it's like having summer in the middle of Winter. The weather today is 50* degree plus which actually is summer weather in Minnesota. We are so used to our cold and frigid weather and below zero temperatures in Minnesota that any double digits temperature is regarded as great weather. What better way to celebrate the beautiful weather than to wear culottes?

This tailored and structured one is actually very great for work. And again, what better way to wear a pair of culottes other than pairing it with great high stilettos? This helps to formalize the look and to elongate the legs. Culottes are actually not work friendly in a corporate work environment but if you work in a less formal office environment or your own office/ business, go for it. The denim culottes is another option for casual wear and Spring 2017 is going to showcase the culottes for both work and play. What are your thoughts on culottes? Yay or Nay?

Blue Blazer + Grey flared pants

Happy Wednesday 😘 Just a quick post here today on another work wear outfit. I'm wearing a dark blue color blazer over a pair of grey wide leg pants. The grey pant is actually a part of a two piece pant suit ensemble but I ditched the grey blazer for this blue blazer to create a color block effect. Grey is such a cool color to wear in the winter season but I wasn't in the mood for a two piece monochrome look. The blue blazer is a thrifted piece and my pant is an old purchase from Nordstrom. Valentine day is around the corner I know but it is not a holiday I celebrate so, I'm not doing any outfit inspiration for valentine. Happy Monday Friends; I hope the new week is going great. I'm talking plaid for Work wear Monday today and from what I see, it seems to be a print that is worn most often by men for work. I mean, just go to the Men's store and you can see lots and lots of shirts in plaid. I want to let ladies know that this is a print they can also do for work and there are endless options to styling them. Also, it is not a print that is reserved for the warm summery months alone; plaid can be styled for work in the Fall too and not just by wearing the plaid jackets and coats. The collages below are just some inspiration on how to put "plaid print looks" together for the cold season.
