Plaid Skirt + long red coat

Happy Monday lovelies; I hope the week started off right for you. I'm sharing a quick post for "work wear Monday" today featuring classic/old pieces from my closet. Since red color is trending this month and it's still winter, I decided to wear this long red coat as a statement piece over a simple white blouse and plaid wrap skirt. Do you notice the high neckline on my white blouse? It is really a nice touch since it mimics a turtle neck and the cut out lace details is so girly and fun.

The weather has warmed up to the 30s and if you live in Minnesota, this is warm/summer weather for us in the middle of winter ðŸ˜‚ So, do not be surprised that I am not wearing stockings. If you are not used to the cold however, I'll definitely recommend that you add a pair of nylon stockings to this outfit if you want to recreate this look.

Did anyone watch the super bowls last night? Oh my God! that was such a fun game!! I'm not a die hard football fan and I have not sat down through an entire football game before but I'm so glad I watched the whole game yesterday and saw how a team that was way down (New England Patriots) ended up winning the game in overtime; definitely history making moment/game. The win really strengthened my faith that we should never lose hope in life no matter the situation we are in. I wish you a great and productive week.

In the deep purple

Happy Wednesday Friends; I hope the new year is still going great. I'm going to make todays post as short as I can because seriously; I'm tired of whining about my Minnesota weather. The only thing I'll like to say though is that; "we're still in the deep freeze weather wise" with some moderate temperature thrown in here and there.  I decided to use the deep purple color of my sweater as the topic for this post.

This is an outfit comprising of some of the old pieces from my closet. The color combination definitely makes this cold weather bearable. Purple is one of my favorite colors and it is a color that always brings a smile to my face; pairing this deep purple sweater with this graffiti print pencil skirt definitely made my day brighter and warmer. To see how I styled this pencil skirt in a previous post, click HERE. Thank-you for reading.

Work Wear: A dress and a scarf 1

With my summer closet cleaning way underway, I discovered lots of clothes, shoes and bags that I have not worn in a while and a lot more with the tags still attached to them and I decided to put this stash of clothing in a new rack labelled "Must-wear." This entire outfit head to toe is from that rack and I will be posting more of these oldies on the blog henceforth. 'Surprisingly, I was able to remember the stores where most of the items came from in order to put the link on the blog.

Also, I have decided to post better variety of styles on the blog and this "Work Wear" feature is where I'll put up posts on my personal style. I have said a lot of times on the blog that I am not a fashion stylist or fashion expert but just a mom with a fashion blog/writing as a hobby. So, I'll do my best to make the work wear (outfits) fun.

Dress: Talbots
Scarf: (old) Nordstrom
Bag & Jewelry (old)
Pumps: Agaci Shoes

A scarf and a dress is my favorite take on an outfit for work especially during the fall and winter months and I have quite a collection of scarfs; some of them are high end and some are from vintage or consignment stores but the important thing is that they do add color and interest to an outfit.
I hope our week is going great so far?

Oxfords and Duster..

Hi Friends, I hope you are all enjoying this awesome friday. The weather has been so beautiful over here lately except for the occasional rain now and then which is also not really a bad thing. I love it when it rains especially when it rains at night; don't you?

This is what I wore to run some errands today; I stopped by at the DMV (Department of Motor vehicles) to get new tabs for my car and this annual chore is just another reminder of how fast the time flies these days. I do not know if it is because we spend a lot of time on our phones and computers and are not really aware of the passing time or we are just extra busy these days that we do not have time to pause and reflect; whatever it is, the time is flying faster than before or maybe the days have gone shorter?...:-).

Well, It's a casual friday because I do get fridays off work these days and friday is the perfect day to dress up in jeans and do stuff or errands. This hooded tee that has spent about two years in the closet and this cropped jeans that was purchased recently from LOFT made a very good pairing today and what else to ground the look than this pair of crown vintage Alexis oxfords. The light duster coat was very essential today too because it was windy and just a tad cold.

If you have been following my blog or seen old posts, you might have noticed all the snow covered backgrounds but everything is all melted now and the trees and plants are blooming. Such a marvelous sight. You cannot help but wonder at the awesomeness of God when you spend some time in nature.

Duster Coat: Talbots
White hooded tee: Victorias secret
Bucket bag: J Crew-currently on sale
Cropped Jeans: LOFT
Oxfords:  DSW: currently on sale for $9.99
Hat: old

I hope you all would be able to pause too to reflect and enjoy nature even if it is only for a few minutes at the park like I did; and if you can, take some pictures too. You'll love to look at the beautiful pictures later on especially when all the leaves fall off the trees again and everything dries up and shrivels like it does in the fall. Also, do not forget to give God thanks for his great works and awesomeness.

Psalm 147: 7-8

Sing to the Lord with grateful praise;
    make music to our God on the harp.
He covers the sky with clouds;
    he supplies the earth with rain
    and makes grass grow on the hills.
He provides food for the cattle
    and for the young ravens when they call.
10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
    nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11 the Lord delights in those who fear him,
    who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Hi! Where is your Dany?

Does anyone remember the Dany? The cute JS Dany that we could not get enough of? It has been missing in Blogsville for sometime now but it seems to be making a gradual comeback. I have been seeing similar styles if not the same  on other style bloggers lately and I just recovered mine where it was nestling in the closet. Since, I am not too quick to get on trends, I purchased mine years back when it was the hype but I never really got to wear it and I just let it sit and grace the closet all these while. Well, I recovered them now and if the weather permits, I'll wear them out...:-).

Shoes: JS
Pants: Talbots

This cute pants was also recovered a few hours ago in its nesting place in the closet; I purchased it at Talbots at about the same time I bought my Dany and I haven't worn them that much ever since. Looking at two of them together now, gave me some outfit ideas. It seems the prints go well together. What say you??...:-).

On another styling note, it was my birthday a few days ago and I was not able to go on a date with hubby and friends because I was down with a cold. I feel better now and I'm ready to party!...:-). It seems like there is a dinner date in the works this weekend and I'm trying to pick out an outfit right now; something simple and fun.

Also, I got this gorgeous jewelry for my birthday and I'm dying to wear them. They are so, so pretty! I'm already putting together an outfit in my head and I'm planning a blog post on it which I'll put up soon. I'll like you to check it out and give some thoughts on what you think. Now, back to the JS Dany; did you ever own a pair? And what do you think of me pairing the JS Dany with the pants in the above picture?

My Coral Midi Skirt

Hi friends, I hope we all had a great weekend. We're having very beautiful weather today although it was cold the last couple of days. I decided to wear my coral color midi skirt that I purchased last summer today.  I have been loving the color "coral" lately and white is always my first color to pair coral with. It was also my first time today of wearing this pink and black statement necklace I purchased recently from Walmart for 10 dollars. I got to know of this super affordable necklace from other blogs  and I decided to check them out when I went in there for my kids' school supplies. They were of such high quality and there were so many beautiful colors and designs that I left the store with a couple. I'll do a post on my jewelry haul next time.
