What to wear on a very cold Fall Day

If you live in a region like me where the fall weather quickly turns into winter before the official start time, you might have your winter coats and scarfs laid out already. A long coat or robe coat is a must have outer wear for a very cold day. A good quality wool coat or cashmere can cost over a thousand dollars in high end stores and a wool blend or equivalent cashmere blend can cost upper hundreds but it can be a good investment because you will get a warm cozy coat that you can wear for years. I must say too that; the shorter the coat, the cheaper it is. You can get more affordable styles online in UK stores like Asos and Misguided.

Camel Coat + My favorite Winter Accessory

ᒣhis is another one of my favorite coats to wear in the winter time, this camel long coat. Camel coat is just another classic or winter essential every lady should have in their closet. There are so many cheaper and more affordable options these days at fashion retail stores like Asos and Zara.  I got this from a consignment store about seven or eight years ago well before camel coats became a huge trend. It is time to bundle up Friends; old man winter is here in full blast. It's very chilly in the twin cities today (Minneapolis-Saint Paul) and it's been snowing a lot. I figured it was time to put together some casual style inspiration on the blog and since I live in a very cold state, I always emphasize the importance of having a good quality warm coat that is not only warm and cozy but also very chic. The coat I would recommend is the camel coat. It is classy and elegant and can be dressed up and down. Hi everyone, thank you so much for stopping by here. I hope the weather is nice and beautiful wherever you are. I wore this outfit to Church a couple of months ago when the weather gave us a break. The black dress underneath my coat is an old purchase from Zara and I believe I have blogged about it before. The fabric of the dress is rich and durable and it is very comfy. Since the dress is sleeveless, I had my coat on the entire time in Church and I was warm and cozy. The only thing missing from this outfit is a pair of stockings but I chose to forgo it.

It is my blog's seven years anniversary and I'm really thankful to God and grateful for my readers and everyone who stops by here. I have thought of quitting so many times but realized that is even harder to quit than it is to run this blog. I have taken blog breaks so many times over the years but found out that the break only stops short of me publishing my posts. I still take pictures and write blog posts while I'm on break; after all, it's somewhat easy; I take all my pictures around my home using a tripod and remote control. So, I found out that, so long as I wear clothes and have internet connection, it'll be hard to really stop writing. I'm so looking forward to the Holiday/Christmas/New Year celebrations but I'm also hoping that time would slow down so that I can enjoy every bit of this season. This is a closet essential if you ever dress up in formal attire for work or even dressing up for other events like weddings, Church services and formal parties.      Hi everyone, I hope we are all doing great. So, it's Friday, woot! woot!! This outfit is what I wore a few weeks ago. The weather was nice and beautiful and I was glad I did not have to wear a heavy jacket. I got out my sleeveless coat instead which I purchased from The House of Fraser UK. It was my first time shopping from the store and I really liked the price and quality of the sleeveless coat. I have since made a couple of other purchases from them. I paired the coat with a white top, denim, and mixed animal prints accessories which was very intentional. I had debated

Grey Sweater Dress + Green trench Coat

Happy Monday everyone. I hope to make this post as short as possible. I'm wearing a grey color sweater dress and a vintage green color vintage trench coat that has a removable floral lining for extra warmth. I love how the color of the coat just makes the otherwise grey outfit pop. This sweater dress is an old one from the closet purchased from Victorias' Secret years ago. The neckline can be turned into an off-shoulder style; can be worn as a cowl neck and it can also be worn over the head like a hood. I just love the versatility of this sweater dress. I wear it a lot in the winter months and it is so worn now that I think it is finally time to give it a break. I'll only wear it to lounge at home from now onwards. I paired the grey dress with high heeled ankle boots and a black bag; trying to keep it very simple and neutral underneath the green coat.  Lastly, my green and gold tone statement earrings completed the look. If you are asking what I'm thinking; yes, the coat is a thrifted piece from years ago. I think I paid about $15 or $20 dollars for it and then I had it dry cleaned too. I take care of all my winter coats and store them properly because they are not really just fashion pieces for me but essentials. I have a couple of 100 % wool coats that actually cost up to a $1000 for a new piece but I got each of them for under $100 at the thrift and consignment store like the camel coat I wore here and here.  You need to have good warm coats and trench coats if you live in Minneapolis. How to Style: Camel Coat and Leopard print Slingbacks

Now that Spring is here, it is time to ditch the boots for sandals, open toed shoes and slingbacks.        There are days I just want to put on oversized comfy clothes and call it a day especially on days when the weather is very cold. Oversized comfy clothes sometimes give me the illusion of being swaddled in a large blanket. The sweater I am wearing here in this post, is actually a cowl neck sweater; I just turned the cowl neck in. The look reminds me of this Free People tunic sweater.

Winter Casual Style: Long green coat + square toe boots

              ᒣhe weather in Minnesota pretty much dictates much of what goes on around here especially your wardrobe. If you love fashion and care about how you present yourself, then you have to have a solid winter wardrobe if you live in this city. And a solid winter wardrobe includes two or more winter coats and boots and sweaters. These pieces can cost a lot if you want really good quality but I have a tip for you if you want to go shopping for winter attire; try consignment or thrift shopping. This tip is not a secret to anyone anymore and definitely not a secret to any reader of this blog.

Camel and Grid

It's been unbearably cold over here in my neck of the woods and like I always say; "when you live in a cold region like I do, the weather dictates your wardrobe." It happens that long coats have been trending in this region for years. I scored this one last year at a very good consignment store for a very good price and it's become one of my favorites. I wore this outfit a few days ago when the temps was in the negative digits and I was warm and comfy the whole time. The grid blanket scarf which I got over the Christmas break from Romwe was a perfect contrast to the camel colored coat and very comfy too. Do you notice my new hair-do?..:-)

Also, do you notice our Christmas décor still stuck to the snow? Well, it's become the norm in my neighborhood to still have Christmas décor on the snow filled lawns in February; they are stuck to the ice and until the weather warms up and the snow melts, I'm afraid they'll remain there for some time. Christmas in March, maybe?...lol.

Hi Friends, I am back with a post on my wish list for the winter and since this winter is already midway and all the shopping for this season already done, this wish list more or less is just going to sit and wait for 2015 Santa.



Classic Wool Coat: 

The classic wool coat is a winter staple and it is always good to invest in a good cut and great color. Tan or camel seems to be the color for this winter season but I have always loved a grey color coat and I look forward to having it someday. The only downside is that the color is so bright that any blemish would be easily visible so, dry cleaning costs should be factored into this investment piece.


Graphic Print Coat:

The first time I saw this graphic print coat online, I fell in love with it immediately and I love the idea of wearing prints as an outer wear or a layering piece in the winter time. This coat if it is not sold out would be on the top of the list for Santa next winter...haha!

Blanket Scarf:

Yes, this one has been around for a while now and yours truly did not get one yet but that is okay. Although, I like the trend, it will have to wait also. 

Infinity Scarf:

I currently own a couple of infinity scarfs but a couple more in great colors is always welcome. The great thing about them is that they are so easy to wear. You just throw one on and you are good to go; there is no need to loop or tie it in any way.

Rain Boots:

Rain boots are such cool accessories to have for the winter and spring season and they come in such great styles these days. I'm currently looking for one in a great color like those red ones above. Then, I can splash and play in the snow with the kids without any worry.

Boots: 

Boots are just essential and have to be on any winter wish list but then, this Burberry pair are just so beautiful. This pair would be making phone calls to Santa several months before winter.

Beanie:

A cute beanie is always stylish and chic and an embellished or printed one would add fun to any outfit.

God's Word: 

This is just the absolute most important thing on this list and it should be the first on any kind of list at all. With the kind of world that we live in these days, we just have to hold dear unto God's word at all times. I have the bible app on my phone which is always with me and I have to ensure that I reference it a lot this season and at all times. God's word teaches us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves and if we do this, we will never, ever think of hurting our neighbor or anyone no matter how different they are from us or how different their views are from ours. Jesus said that if anyone strikes us on one cheek, we should turn the other cheek. The bible does not support or preach discrimination or intolerance only love. Again, please, let us love everyone just as much as we love ourselves.

Faux Jumpsuit + Oversized camel color Coat

One of my styling tricks is pairing shades of same color together in a monochromatic style to achieve a totally new look thereby making the pieces versatile. I am able to achieve a faux jumpsuit just by pairing a simple top and pant together like I did in this look. The top and the pant are nearly the same shade of red so this makes the outfit look like a one piece. This styling tip definitely expands our wardrobe. My turtle neck top is from Boohoo and my pants are an old purchase from Victorias' Secret and the long length makes it perfect for layering in the winter. My oversized camel color coat completed the look and with the freezing temps we have been having here for days, a large comfy coat is a must. This coat is also a thrifted piece by the way.

Sleeveless Coat + Denim

Hello everyone 😆 I hope you have fully transitioned from Fall to Winter. It's not snowing over here yet and the weather has actually been very beautiful with just occasional chilly mornings. I'm glad I do not have to get out my heavy coats just yet. So, it was on one of such cold mornings last week that I put on this sleeveless coat I have had for years. It is such a great pop of color. I paired it with a black color cable knit sweater and a pair of dark blue denim trouser and ankle boots. Cable knit sweaters are a little heavier and more cozy than regular sweaters and are great for the winter months; paired with the sleeveless coat, I felt very warm and cozy. This look is great for casual Fridays in the winter time and totally cool when you can do different color variants of it; like camel color sleeveless coat, light wash denim and white top like I styled here in this Post.

Buying sweaters in lots of dark hues as opposed to neutrals is also a great way to update our closet for work. Throw a great jacket or blazer over the sweater and you are ready to go. The Fall or Winter season is not the time to wear sandals, flats or wobbly heels that do not provide comfort and warmth. In the summer months, you can pretty much get away with wearing less comfortable heels or shoes to work but when the added inconvenience of the cold and chilly weather sets in, uncomfortable shoes are not so easy to deal with. So, get a good pair of heels; boots, pumps, mary-janes or flats with very good sturdy heels and good fabric like leather and suede that can provide extra warmth.

Warmth and comfort is of utmost importance in the work wardrobe for the colder months so all clothing pieces should be of good quality and sturdy fabric. My first fabric of choice for work pants for Fall is tweed because the fabric is very durable and produce a lot of warmth. Sweater Dress + Camel color sleeveless coat

Happy first day of February Friends. So in my previous posts, I wore a snowy day outfit and today, it is all about a simple casual wear for a not-too-cold winter day. I have always loved sweater dresses and I purchased this burgundy color one from Victoriassecret years ago and this makes me wonder for the umpteenth time; "whatever happened to Victoriassecret's clothing and shoes line?" They used to have very fabulous clothing line for work and play and I really loved their sweater dresses and work wear. Their Colin Stuart shoe collection was also beautiful too but it's all gone and they've gone back to just selling lingerie and beauty products. I have not read or heard anything in the media about this and I'm curious to know more.


Now, back to this simple outfit; my sweater dress is really clingy and since I'm very curvy, I decided to throw on a sleeveless coat for extra cover. And to the big curvy girls like me; it's okay to be confident in whatever you wear but you always have to exercise some caution in your dressing so you can look decent and classy. In other words, if you are big behind, you definitely need to invest in good shapewear and have a good collection of light coats, cardigans, vests, dusters and kimonos whichever suits your fashion taste.
