Floral Pleated Skirt
Happy Monday Friends; I hope your week started off right. Mine is going great so far. This is just a quick post on what I wore to church yesterday; a teal color floral pleated midi skirt, a black long sleeve tee and a pair of ankle boots. It's a very simple outfit but very ideal for when the weather starts to warm up. Pleated skirts are still trending and aside from the metallic twist on the trend, another version that is trending is the; floral or prints pleated skirt; quite a mouthful, haha! 😁
If there is one thing I discovered about myself in 2016; it is definitely my love for midi skirts. This floral pleated skirt is quite an old piece though that I never knew I owned. I was doing my end of year closet editing and found it in my forgotten pile of clothes; "tales of an old shopaholic!" I do not remember what store I purchased the skirt from because I had ripped off the tags but I'm sure it is TJ Maxx or Victoria's secret because I remember those were my favorite stores years ago. I found similar skirts online and you can click on the links below to check them out. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Fall "Work Trend."
A very quick look at two of the essential trends you must get to be stylish for Work this fall; the pleated skirt and the velvet blazer. These two trends work well for any event or occasion if paired the right way. Although we know that there is no rule in Fashion (these days); it is always a good idea not to wear two or three trends at a time. Sometimes it works and other times it does not. I think the velvet blazer and pleated skirt trend work together nicely so long as the skirt is simple and not too shiny or metallic (which is another trend)
The best styling tip is to mix and match trendy pieces with the not so trendy ones. Therefore, if you have these two clothing items pictured above in your closet; the best way to dress them up for work and happy hour/girls night out, is to style them with other closet basics like the simple white tee and dark colored denim. Your thoughts?

Pleats Deal
Pleats! Pleats!! Pleats!!!
So timeless and classic; this trend has indeed come to stay. The pleats fabric can be used to make just about any style; pants, skirts, dresses. Also I love that they come in fun yummy colors. I was in the fabric store the other day and went to the pleats section and I was just drooling over all the lovely colors. I couldn't help going away with yards of pleats fabric and I would give my seamstress a call soon. I have a few pieces in my closet already and the recent addition is the green high low skirt below I purchased from venus.com.
I do not know what to do with my pleats fabric yet but I'm a little tempted to make dresses and pants since I do not have any pleats pants or dresses. The fabulous dresses below retail for $128 at Victoriassecret.com.
For now, I'm just content drooling over the yummy, colorful yards of fabric in my closet and seriously thinking of taking some sewing classes soon. I can't wait to start making my own clothes!
