My ruffled floral green summer dress

So, I have had this dress for years; purchased it from TJ Maxx but have only worn it a couple of times because I thought it was shapeless and unflattering. Fast forward to this season and this style of dress is trending; yes trending and I am here for it. I love dresses and I believe dresses are feminine and chic and whether they are floral, printed, plain, maxi, midi, there is a dress for every occasion. What is unique thing about this style of dress is the light fabric and the free flowing style and the small ruffles which can be on the dress bodice, at the hem or all over. It is great for spring and summer and for vacation to a warm location. I styled it with white pumps to add some contrast and white pumps are also the new neutrals. My ring purse is almost invisible against the dress but I'm sure you can still see it. I hope you are having a great week so far. Thanks a lot for stopping by.

The most comfy Pants to own this Summer

Hi everyone, happy Tuesday. Summer is right around the corner and it is time to get out our summer wardrobe and accessories. 'want to know the most comfortable pants to wear in the summer? Pick up a pair of khaki pants or chino pants and you are good to go. The khaki and chino pants (or shorts and skirts) are very popular in the summer time because of the light weight feel of the fabrics. Both fabrics are made of cotton and only differ by their weave of which the chino pants is of a tighter weave than the khaki pants. The fabrics are very breathable and hence very appropriate for the hot weather. The khaki pants were not so chic and attractive in times past but the latest designs of khaki pants with waist-tie belts and very close fits and even the paper bag trend has made khaki and chino pants to be very attractive. JCrew even came out with a very chic polka dots chino pants last season as can be seen here. The polka dots design and fit of the pants is just amazing.

How to style lilac for Work

The Lilac color is everywhere; you can't help not noticing the color trend. This is a quick post on how to style the trend for work. I purchased this pencil skirt from JCrew a few years back from the No. 2 Pencil skirt collection in double serge cotton. The skirt has a great fit and is very comfy. I paired it with a neck-bow-tie blouse from Loft and accessorized with this straw bag that I have been carrying all spring and nude pumps. The tip to styling lilac for work especially in a corporate work environment is to get one piece in the color; maybe a bottom piece like pants, culottes, or skirt or in a top like a blazer or a blouse. You can also do accessories like a pair of lilac shoes or a bag.

Wedding Style: Fascinators and Hats

Happy Saturday everyone 😄 This is a quick and very short post here. I started writing this post at about 3:00 AM just before the royal wedding started and I cried, clapped. sang and jumped for joy while watching the nuptials and at the same time editing and clipping pictures. Also, I have a wedding to attend in a couple of hours; what a day so far! If you have been following the royal wedding buzz, you would have seen these fancy accessories that I love and have been so excited about. Some call them Fancy Hats, Church hats, Hatinators, Kentucky Derby hats, Fascinators...whatever you call them, the bottom line is that they are very unique hair accessories that go with very proper, modest, lady like dressing. In most cases, they are paired with dresses and skirt suits but I have seen them paired with pantsuits before too and it looked great. The fuller or more covered pieces; that sit properly on the head are called hats while the less covered ones that are attached to head bands or hair clips are called fascinators. They are very popular in British weddings, formal ceremonies, church services, tea parties and even bridal showers. 'want to purchase one for your next fancy party and need help styling it? This is the post for you. Below are three stylish sets for the edgy guest. Happy shopping and styling.

Bermuda Shorts + Metallic Mules

Happy Friday everyone; I hope you all are as excited as I am for the weekend. There are so many reasons to be excited for this Saturday one of which is the Royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. I am so excited for both of them and wish them a fabulous union. I already set my alarm clock and would be up early to watch the ceremony in real time. Hubby thinks I am crazy but hey! 😂 It's not everyday that we get to hear about or witness real life Cinderella story. I have a wedding to attend with hubby tomorrow too and I'm thinking of styling a British themed outfit with a fascinator to match. I actually own a couple of fascinators as you can see on my IG here. You can also read the story on how and where I purchased them.

Headwrap + Denim Pastel Style

happy Thursday everyone. This is just a quick post here to show this casual outfit I wore recently. Somehow, I have developed a deep love for head wraps that I cannot really explain. I think the main reason is because I have this huge collection of scarfs just stored away in my closet and I figured I might put them to use by getting on this head wrap trend. In the past I never really liked wearing turbans and head wraps even when I had my dreadlocks. I only put my hair in wraps a few times but here we are 😉 Anyway, let me not bore you with all the behind-the-scenes gist.

So, I decided to style this colorful blue print scarf with my patch-work denim that I purchased from Loft a couple of summers ago. I must say what made this outfit stand out is the color theme; the baby blue pastel color. The blue in the scarf and the pumps add a pop of color to this casual outfit. Now that I am into bags as accessories, I completed the look with my straw clutch; an old purchase from JCrew. The straw clutch injects some neutral color tone and texture to the outfit. I wore it to visit some friends sans the pumps which I switched out for a pair of comfortable flats after taking these pictures. Thank you so much for stopping by here 😄

Summer Chic bags and how to style them 2

                                                               Circular and semi circular
                                                     Straw Bags...

Summer is fast approaching and it is time to reorganize the closet and get out the accessories as we should do at the beginning of every season. One of the popular accessory this summer is the circular or semi circular straw bag. These bags are different from the straw totes that were trending at this same time last year. If you are not sure what I mean, take a look at these bags here and here and here.  The straw bags are smaller this season and are more like satchels and little round bags and in some variation, they are square shaped. Instead of the graphics, pompoms and tassels that were on the straw bags last year, we will be seeing buckles and straps on straw bags this season like this design here. And if there are going to be pompoms, they would be smaller and dainty. Styling these circular bags

one more way to style denim on denim

Happy Tuesday everyone 😆 I hope the week started off great for you; mine has been beautiful so far. This is a quick post to show another way the denim on denim trend can be styled. I admit it is somewhat an outdated trend or let's just say it is a trend that never gets out of style but rather just stays in the background to be picked up anytime. So, I was styling this pastel look for the blog and I got out this denim pumps I have not worn in a while. I paired it with this color block tan sweater that I purchased from Loft a while back and ankle denim pants. the first choice would have been to pair tan color pumps with this outfit but the denim pumps added some interest to it. if you are tired of the

Yellow shorts suit + Polka dots

Happy Monday Friends; I hope you had a great Mother's day celebration. Mine was beautiful with lots of love and presents 😉 Hubs got me a cute designer bag and it is actually the second one I am getting from him so it looks like someone is trying to turn me into a "Bag Lady" hehehe 😆 The straw bag I'm carrying in this pic was gifted to me by my older Sis. over 8 years ago when straw bags were not even a thing and I am glad I took good care of it. It will certainly be in constant rotation this spring and summer. The short suit I have on here are separates and you can tell from the pictures that they are different shades. This is actually the way I like to style my suits and it's quite affordable for me too. I got the blazer from a thrift store for about $7 years ago and got the shorts from JCrew clearance sale for about $9 dollars a while back so you can see that this suit is less than $20. The
