How to Style: Blue color Statement Mules

So, this post is a styling inspiration for my recent Shoe Lovin' Post which is a random post that comes up on the blog every now and then showing trendy affordable shoes with shopping links on where to get them. The beautiful satin bow Mules from Ann Taylor featured in these sets is currently on sale. The cobalt blue shade would certainly add a pop of color to any outfit and since it is a statement piece, it can make a plain and simple outfit stand out. The "sets" in this post is an inspiration on how I would love to style the shoes first for the remaining days of summer in the first set and then for fall in the second set. Happy viewing and styling.

Mustard top + Khaki Pants

It's been very hot and humid in the twin cities and I have been living in sleeveless tops and shorts and cropped pants. I am so tired of this heat wave already! 😓 Did I also say I have been glued to my straw bags? I just love the natural feel of straw bags and the cool vibes it brings to summer outfits. I wore this outfit a few days ago to watch a play with my kids and it was a day I did not want to be outside because of the high humidity. Knowing that it was going to be cool in the theatre I had a denim jacket with me which I did not include in the pictures. My tie waist khaki pants and top is from Loft and my sandals are from DSW. I think it is about time I retire this particular straw bag; It's been in heavy rotation since last summer. Right now, I'm kind of longing for Fall. I'm so tired of this heat wave already. I hope you are enjoying great weather wherever you are. Thank you so much for stopping by here.

Pink Dress + Metallic Heels

I don't own a lot of pink or fuchsia color dresses but I do own a couple of pink blazers and pants and I wanted to add to my pink color collection. Then I saw this dress on sale last summer in a Burlington Catalog that came in the mail to the house. I was a little confused about the color. It said pink in the color description but I thought it was a deep fuchsia color. Then, the dress came in the mail after I ordered it and it looked like magenta which is more like a purplish color. I decided to keep the dress anyway because I like the simplicity of the dress and the shiny metallic straps and for the under $30 price tag, the quality wasn't that bad. I purchased the floral clutch at the same time as the dress and I knew the outfit would come in handy for a quick dress-up to go on a date or to a party. That day came recently when I was invited to a wedding on the same day that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got married and I knew right away that I was going to wear this dress. I paired it with a pink Fascinator (hat) in a nod to the big British themed wedding of the day and I completed the look with sparkly drop earrings and metallic heels and these are the pictures I took sans the hat. Thanks so much for reading.

The Patch-work trend: White top + denim Skirt

Happy flashback Friday. Today's post is a big flashback to these old pics from my Blog folder and this  eighties look; patch work denim. I took these pictures some time last summer on a cool summer day. It was a very simple look like my looks always are; white sleeveless top, patch-work denim skirt with fringe bottom, pink fringe earrings for a pop of color and a black pair of mules. It was a very casual look but I wore it to Church for a Wednesday Mid-week service. The eighties fashion is coming up in blazers, pant suits, shoulder pads, graphic tees, denim skirts and even leopard prints. It is time to start digging into our closets for those old pieces. Are you excited for the come back of leopard prints or the shoulder pads? I'm having second thoughts about those. Thanks for visiting.

What to do with old trendy pieces in your Closet

Hi Friends, happy Thursday 😀 I'm sharing an old look from my blog folder for this post on a throwback Thursday. (These pics were in my folder for about a year and were not blogged before now mostly because of the quality but I I tried to edit the pictures with the Snapseed App a bit and decided to blog them anyway). This pineapple prints skirt from Ann Taylor  is an old piece from my closet and I have styled it several times on the blog before in this post here and here.  It was so popular two summers ago because of the beautiful unusual pineapple print and there were about three pieces in the collection as it is usual with some of these trendy summer prints; there were dresses, skirts and shorts. For this look, I paired the skirt with a chambray shirt and block heel sandals and a "big-hair-don't-care" attitude 😁 I have worn this outfit a couple of times (since) after the day these pics were taken, mostly to church. And this brings me to the main idea behind this post; what do you do with very old trendy pieces in your closet?

Summer Trend: White Shoes

"White Shoes" is a huge trend this summer and it's much like the white sneaker trend of last fall. This summer, white shoes; mules, sandals, birkenstock, kitten heels and slides are all over the stores and online and you can get them at different price range. This white Gucci Mules might be the culprit for the boost of the white shoe trend or this Greece Slides right here. "Shoe-ever" is the culprit, shoe lovers do not really mind. If you love the white shoe trend for summer and want to check out more styles, click on the shopping links below. Happy shopping 😍

Polka dots Skirt + white button down shirt

So, polka dots prints we know is trending right now. I dug into my Blog Photo Folder and found these pictures I took last summer where I wore this beautiful ruffle hem skirt that I purchased from NET-A-PORTER. The price was a little steep but I loved the skirt and knew it was a huge statement skirt and did not want to pass on it. I paired it with a white bodysuit botton up shirt that I purchased from Victorias Secret years ago. You can find similar piece here and here. This season, there are more budget friendly versions of this skirt like this piece on the Shein Website but I don't know about the quality of their clothing because I have not shopped on the site before. A similar piece in a different color is on the Eshakti website and that I can vouch for the quality because I have shopped on their site so many times. I completed my look with pom-pom sandals from Asos blogged about here. also, check out a similar polka dot look in this post here. Thanks so much for stopping by here.

Cropped floral blazer + Pink high waist Pants

Oh, I don't remember when I purchased this floral blazer but I know it's been years. It was a trendy piece the summer I purchased it from Target mostly because floral blazer was a big trend that summer. I'm thinking it was 2010...2011...Well,  I have held onto this blazer all these years because of the great quality and the fact that cropped floral blazers are not easy to find at an affordable price. I know I have styled it somewhere before on the blog with blue denim and this time around I decided to pair it with a pink color high waist pants or paper bag pants; a huge trend in the spring. I layered a white tee underneath and completed the look with brown platform pumps. I have been shopping my closet for months and have not done any major fashion shopping but I am looking forward to doing some shopping for Fall. What about you? What clothing piece have you held unto for years? Thanks so much for reading.

Work Style: Ivory + Brown

Ivory or white and brown has been one of my favorite color pairings this season. Here I am wearing an ivory blouse paired with a tweed brown color A-line skirt. The tweed skirt is more or less a cold weather staple but I made the outfit summer worthy by accessorizing with floral embellished pumps in a nude color to match the color tone of the outfit. My vintage leather bag completed the look. Thanks for viewing.

Work Style: Purple + Lilac

Purple is my favorite color of all time though I don't get to wear it as often as I would like. This is the reason I was super excited when the color started to trend in spring. Purple and lilac is also one of my favorite color blocking combination as seen in this style inspiration post here. For this look, I'm wearing my light purple or lilac color J. Crew NO. 2 Pencil Skirt in cotton twill; such great quality; I don't know if the store still carries this style of pencil skirt anymore. I paired it with a purple color sleeveless top and completed the look with a metallic statement necklace from Burlington. The black sleeveless coat from House of Fraser and black pumps nailed the look as a work style. Click on the shopping links below if you care for more shopping info.
