No Snooze, no booze, just shoes...

Hi Friends, it's been a while; I have been super busy. First of all, I want to say a quick thank-you to everyone that commented on my last post. Every thought and comment about my midi skirt reminded me of how badly I need to go on a real vacation and London is certainly on the top of my list.
My nephews and nieces are still around on vacation so I have been busy having fun with family...:-).

Wait a minute...Is there really a situation like that? I mean, can the word "busy" be used to qualify the action of having fun? Not really, I would say; I think busy is mostly associated with "Work."
Anyway, I am not here to give English lessons...:-). I am quite sure you already know what this post is all about.

Well, as you can see from the pictures, there is a new friend in my shoe closet...:-). I have been eyeing all those fun and whimsical Sophia Webster shoes for a while but was not willing to make the splurge and when I learnt of the recent sales at Saks & Fifth, I indulged. This polka dots d'orsay pumps were on sale for half the price and the sale is still on currently. I got home from work today and met my package waiting for me at the door. This pair totally wiped away all the monday blues.

HERE

So, my advice for the rest of the week, is this...:-). (You know it is always "God First" right?) then...

  • "no snooze"...when the alarm comes on, get up and get going.
  • "no booze"...reserve the parties for the weekend
  • if you must indulge a little as a lady, let it be on shoes...:-).

Let's go to London

Happy Sunday Friends; yes, I have been bitten by the midi skirt bug. I am so happy for this trend, in previous years, wearing midi skirts was regarded matronly and highly conservative and young ladies never wanted to be seen in them but look at us now, we are all wearing midi skirts like it's nothing. Midi skirts are so youthful and fun.

This outfit is what I wore to church today. I got this skirt from Chicwish recently and I really like the fun art printed on it; it's a pic of the red London double decker buses and telephone booths; again so, so fun. I blogged about it in this outfit collage here. This skirt sold out quickly on the Chicwish website but there are other beautiful midi skirts and pieces on the site. I just love Chicwish for reintroducing fashion for women. I forgot to put on my sunglasses today and squinted continuously while I was outdoors. Did they say squinting and frowning causes early wrinkles or was it laughing and smiling a lot that causes it or all of the above? Well, I don't care much about that...hehehe...:-). but I'll definitely remember to have my sunglasses on hand next time.

This is just a quick post to say hi. I'll be back again to talk some more sometime soon; all of God's blessings in the new week friends.

School Girl Gingham

T. J. Maxx was my favorite store for years before I started blogging about my personal style and found other amazing stores like Loft. I stopped by the store in my neighborhood recently and got some nice pieces like this gingham vest I wore over the weekend. Gingham pints has become a staple in fashion these days and I wonder if  a  lot of ladies know that this classic prints is used as school uniforms in other parts of the world; I love the prints though so, no complaint at this end.

I wore this outfit to visit friends over the weekend but I did not stay in the heels for too long although they are very comfortable. I switched into flats soon after I took these pictures however,  I love the heels so much that I purchased them in two colors. I wore the tan version here. My necklace was purchased from Walmart last summer for only $10; quite a steal I must say. It is quite durable too and I am quite surprised at the great quality.

Did you do anything fun over the weekend and do you own any gingham print item? What are your thoughts on the classic gingham print; love it or lose it?

Holy Chic on Denim Midi

This graphic tee is one of my favorites because I fell in love with it the first time I saw it online. I like how catchy and bold the "graphics" is and I used it in my Polyvore collages here and here. Some say it is a play on words and that it refers to a bad phrase "Holy $h_t!"but to me it is just the literal and simple meaning of the phrase. However, I am not saying I am super holy or perfect but I am getting there...hehehe..:-).

I paired the tee with this denim midi skirt I purchased recently  from T. J Maxx and it must have sold out quickly because I got this from the sales rack and it was the only one available (in that location probably). There is another option on Chicwish here. This outfit was meant to combat the heat we experienced in Minneapolis today and I am planning on dealing with the summer heat this year in more graphic muscle tees. I am currently eyeing this cute piece here and here. This tee reminds me that I am still working on my "holiness;" (spirituality). christianity is a continuous process and so long as we stay on the course everything will be okay. Love also is the greatest ingredient for the Christian life because Jesus said the greatest gift of all is love.

1 Corinthians 13 New Living Translation (NLT)

Love Is the Greatest

13 If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it;[a] but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages[b] and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! 10 But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless.
11 When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. 12 Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.[c] All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

13 Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Closet editing ladies? Well, it's closet editing on this end. I usually try to add one or two pieces of item to my closet every month and when doing this, I like to add trendy pieces; they do not have to be high end or expensive but they do have to look pretty. These are the items I am liking right now. Magic wand anyone?...:-).

Draped...

Happy Wednesday everyone; I hope you are all having a great week so far. I presently have my family members vacationing here in Minnesota so, I'm still in the holiday mode. It's always nice to have family around especially when you don't get to see all the time due to distance and busy schedule. I wore this draped blouse that I purchased from eshakti a while ago over this white denim pants today and finished the look off with my Nine West floral pumps. I fell in love with floral pumps when they came on the scene recently and you can see my previous post here. Floral pumps are very unique and they can be worn just about anywhere depending on their style or color. This navy-blue and white floral pumps can go to the office too with a very formal look.

As for this draped blouse, I just love the color but it's hard to tell if it is actually heather grey or blue in color. I just realized recently that I do not have a lot of blue pieces in closet aside from the regular denim so, I have been adding blue color items into my closet.

The Grand Finale

This weekend was so much fun; my siblings came over to Minnesota from out of state for the Fourth of July Celebrations and it was nice seeing my nephews and nieces again. After a series of barbecues including one at the lake side and the fireworks finale last night, I am pretty much exhausted. No, I did not wear this short suit to church today; I changed into this outfit when I got back from church. I decided to pair this distressed graphic tee I purchased from Forever 21 a couple of summers ago with the red shorts and as always, the jacket and shorts are separates (from different stores) but I purchased a grey pant suit and  a yellow short suit as a two piece recently it felt quite odd when I was making the purchase. I have always enjoyed putting together a suit by mixing and matching pieces from different stores. Check out my previous post here.

This BCBG Paris d'orsay pumps has been in my closet for a while and I just like the prints. They are currently on sale at DSW. Would you consider having a pant suit as part of your suit collection? They are very fun to wear especially in the summer time and they can be worn just about anywhere depending on the type of tank top or camisole worn underneath. I figured wearing this red suit was a nice way to end the great celebration of the Fourth of July weekend.

Jacket: Loft
Shorts: J.c. Penney
Tee: Forever21
Pumps: DSW (currently on sale)
Purse: Relic (old)

I hope you had a great weekend too wherever you are. Thanks so much for stopping by.
