Hot Pink and black

Hi friends, this is one of the pink outfits I wore in the month of October and as we all know; October is breast cancer awareness month. It's important for every woman to find a way in bringing awareness to this ailment; either through donation to a foundation; spreading awareness about it or taking part in prayer groups and support groups for patients, victims and their families. Women are strong and powerful and we need every woman around to contribute their best to the building of families and a strong community. I like to feature a pink outfit on the blog in the month of October and you can check out the one I did last year here.

Sweater: Victorias Secret
Shoes:Victorias Secret (old)
Bag: gifted
Skirt: Loft
Necklace: Walmart

Do you wear any pink outfits in the month of October to raise awareness to breast cancer or do you wear pink now and then on a regular basis? I know there are some ladies who do not like to wear pink clothing and do not like the color pink and that is okay too. I'll be back again for more fashion chit chat.

Mint and Pleats

Happy Monday friends; it feels so great to be posting this blogpost finally. I was super busy over the weekend and I was so tired yesterday after the church service that I went to bed early. I'm glad I was able to take these pics even with my tight schedule. I got this pleated skirt from Victorias secret over a year ago and the tank top was purchased from my neighborhood Walmart. I had a sudden realization that I could create a "dress" effect by combining both pieces and it actually worked. It's always great when fashion falls into place in such perfect harmony.

I am also very happy at the slow start of Fall in my neck of the woods. The weather is still very warm and beautiful although we have been having lots of rain. That means, I still have time to wear my summer pieces. Is the weather cooperating at your end?

School Girl Gingham

T. J. Maxx was my favorite store for years before I started blogging about my personal style and found other amazing stores like Loft. I stopped by the store in my neighborhood recently and got some nice pieces like this gingham vest I wore over the weekend. Gingham pints has become a staple in fashion these days and I wonder if  a  lot of ladies know that this classic prints is used as school uniforms in other parts of the world; I love the prints though so, no complaint at this end.

I wore this outfit to visit friends over the weekend but I did not stay in the heels for too long although they are very comfortable. I switched into flats soon after I took these pictures however,  I love the heels so much that I purchased them in two colors. I wore the tan version here. My necklace was purchased from Walmart last summer for only $10; quite a steal I must say. It is quite durable too and I am quite surprised at the great quality.

Bermuda Shorts: H&M-old

Did you do anything fun over the weekend and do you own any gingham print item? What are your thoughts on the classic gingham print; love it or lose it?

Bring on the Stripes!! Closet Print Pairing..

Hi Friends; yes, if you noticed I have been doing some marathon postings the last few days. Blogging/writing makes me happy and with so much negativity going on around everywhere, I decided to just chill and concentrate on things that will keep me uplifted hence I decided to concentrate on the blog for a little bit.

In this post, I'm wearing my favorite prints of the season; stripes!! and I have paired it in three ways so this blog post is picture heavy. Stripes have been around in fashion for a long time and I'm sure everyone, guys included have got striped clothing in their closet. It is just that this season, stripes have become noticeably bigger and bolder and they have started getting into work wear and formal wear in very elaborate details. Striped shirts for work either vertical or horizontal stripes used to be very subtle but now this is changing. So, let's talk about my stripe pairings from my closet.

WORK STRIPES

This outfit is what I wore to work today. My work setting is fairly casual so I do wear denim to work. For this look, I'm wearing this bold striped tee that has a lacy v-neck that makes it look like a camisole and thus suitable to layer under the blazer. This black blazer is one of many. I have up to five black blazers in different lengths and fabric and this particular one is different from the one I wore to church on Sunday in this post here. The short length of this one made it very appropriate to pair with this tee. I added my charcoal color grey pumps to offset the dark colors on top and I was good for work.

Striped tee: Macys
Blazer: Macys
Jean: American Eagle Outfitters
Bag: Random
Shoes: VS Shoes (Victoriassescret)
Necklace: Express

                                                                              CASUAL STRIPES

For this casual look I wore to play with the kids at the playground, I just replaced my black blazer with this denim one I got from Target years ago. I could not resist it when I saw it on the racks and I have used it a lot over the years for times when I need to be casual and at the same time dressy. Throwing the denim blazer over the striped tee transformed it instantly from work to play and I wore J. Crew flats to finish off the look. I love to wear heels but when it is time for mommy duty like playing with my kids at the park, the heels come off for some comfortable flats I can run around in.

Tee: Macys
Denim Blazer: Target
Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters
Flats: J.Crew Factory

                                                                       DATE NIGHT STRIPES

For this evening look, I just hung up the blazers and let the tee shine and loaded up on accessories. The statement necklace, floral bracelet and cross body bag are essential accessories for a date outfit and though I'm not putting on the blazer for this look, I actually had it on hand in the car just in case the temperature dipped later in the night then I can be warm and comfy. I finished off this look with my "strappy" sandals from Chinese Laundry which complemented my stripe tee.

Tee: Macys
Jeans: American Eagle Outfitters
Shoes: Chinese Laundry
Cross Body bag: Relic
Necklace: Walmart
Bracelet: old

What do you think of my stripe pairing? April comes to an end tomorrow and I would be putting up my quarterly summary post. Thanks so much friends for stopping by. I'll be back tomorrow for another post.

My Coral Midi Skirt

Hi friends, I hope we all had a great weekend. We're having very beautiful weather today although it was cold the last couple of days. I decided to wear my coral color midi skirt that I purchased last summer today.  I have been loving the color "coral" lately and white is always my first color to pair coral with. It was also my first time today of wearing this pink and black statement necklace I purchased recently from Walmart for 10 dollars. I got to know of this super affordable necklace from other blogs  and I decided to check them out when I went in there for my kids' school supplies. They were of such high quality and there were so many beautiful colors and designs that I left the store with a couple. I'll do a post on my jewelry haul next time.
