How to fake a dress for a special Event

There are so many events to attend in the summer time and if you do not want to shop for something new or need some inspiration on how to put together an outfit really quick from your closet, think "Monochrome styling." The outfit I am wearing in this post is actually a tunic and a pleated skirt paired together. The outfit actually looks like a dress or a one piece. I know this because any time I style similar colors together like this in a top and skirt, I get complements about it as a dress. Even when I posted the look on my instagram, I got some comments on it as a dress 😃 The trick is to make sure the colors or shades of both pieces are really similar.                                                The Unconventional Holiday Outfit.


Can I have that Victoria Beckham's wool jacket and that high waisted pants? Also, I would like a pair of that Manolo Blahnik patent pumps and that statement necklace. Or, I can just give my list to Santa...oh, Christmas is over?..:-) I guess I'll have to give Santa the list for next Christmas. My Christmas holiday was so busy and so much fun that I didn't pay much attention to the time. Looking back now, I think the day went by so fast.

I had a birthday party for my son who was born last Christmas and it was indeed a double celebration. It was not an easy decision though picking what to wear. Initially, I wanted to do the traditional holiday outfit by picking a dress or an outfit with sparkles, sequins and red or black colors then I decided to do something completely different. I wore a white pant suit with a mint color blouse and there was nothing christmasy about my outfit. The decor and colors for the birthday party were also unconventional. Since Christmas and Santa were very obvious themes for a party at this time of the year, I decided to keep things really simple and that included my outfit. I do not have all the high end pieces in this collage that is modeled after my Christmas outfit but I had fun playing dress up and recreating the outfit. The only item that was conventional in my outfit was my sparkly metallic heels. I can't wait to show you pictures of how I recreated the outfit above just by shopping my closet.

My Coral Midi Skirt

Hi friends, I hope we all had a great weekend. We're having very beautiful weather today although it was cold the last couple of days. I decided to wear my coral color midi skirt that I purchased last summer today.  I have been loving the color "coral" lately and white is always my first color to pair coral with. It was also my first time today of wearing this pink and black statement necklace I purchased recently from Walmart for 10 dollars. I got to know of this super affordable necklace from other blogs  and I decided to check them out when I went in there for my kids' school supplies. They were of such high quality and there were so many beautiful colors and designs that I left the store with a couple. I'll do a post on my jewelry haul next time.

There are so many sales going on right now in stores and this might just be the time to buy some of those favorite pieces on your list.
