Shades of Purple and Styleboard Feature

Call it what you may; lilac, lavender...they are all shades of the one color; "Purple" which is one of my favorite colors. Today being Friday, I decided to do a throwback post to some of my favorite style boards with shades of purple. Also, one of my sets below was featured in a bloggers post and you can read the post and check out which style board was featured HERE

What are your thoughts on the color purple? Do you have any clothing piece or accessories in any shade of purple? Just like pink, some ladies do have a love and hate relationship with this color. If you need any more inspiration on how to incorporate this color or any other color into your closet or style, you can check out more of my style boards HERE.

Burgundy sweater + button down shirt

Happy Thursday my friends. My outfit for today consists of oldies from my closet. Presently, I'm learning how to mix and match my old pieces to create new outfits. This burgundy color boxy sweater is an old purchase from Anntaylor and since it shrank over the years, it lay abandoned in my closet. I decided to pick it up again and figured out that layering would be the way to go. So, in comes this crisp white button down shirt from Jcrew and viola! a revamped sweater. I paired it with a navy blue pants and one of my favorite black booties. This outfit kind of resembles a school girl look but hey! there is nothing wrong with that...😀 It just means you are ready for business.

Can we talk about the large elephant in the room or in the world right now? 'that there is a political transition going on in our beloved country U.S.A.? There is obviously a huge change coming uphill. I'm a little nervous but I'm just going to take each day one day at a time and in the words of the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; "Faith is taking the first step even when you can't see the whole staircase." Thanks so much for stopping by here.

Faux fur Vest and Orange Cords

Holla! 😁 Happy Wednesday. Just a quick post here starting with good news from my neck of the woods here in the state of Minnesota. The weather is starting to warm up; woot! woot!! It's 40*F today and the temperature is going to be in the upper thirties to forties all through next week. Anything above 10*F is always good news here so you can tell how excited I am 😅 The only downside is that the snow is starting to melt and so there is the problem of slushy snow and icy driveways. This is one more reason why I like to wear heels at this time; the chances of my pants being muddied or soiled with wet snow is less.

I figured it was time to loosen up a bit fashion wise; so away with the heavy coats and layering and in comes this simple outfit; a faux fur vest over a turtle neck sweater and a pair of bright orange colored corduroy pants; definitely time to bring on the colors. I have this love-hate relationship with orange colors; sometimes, I love it and most times I don't. Somehow, I own a lot of orange colored pieces in my closet and I'm not too sure how that happened 😏 Well, if it is in the closet, we got to wear it right? What do you think of orange color pieces/clothing? Thanks a lot for reading as always.

Happy Birthday to a Style Icon; First Lady, Michelle Obama

Happy 53rd  birthday to first lady Michelle Obama; a beautiful, elegant, classy, confident and intelligent woman who is a great role model for young girls and women everywhere. Her fashion style has evolved gracefully over the years and she is my style Muse. I wish her many more beautiful years as I express my appreciation to her and her husband; the 44th President of the United States for their great service to the Nation.

Monday Chic in Pink

Happy Monday Everyone; so, it's new week, new goals. However, some people do not have much enthusiasm when it comes to Mondays and they usually require some boost to get going which in most cases is a cup of coffee. I am not a huge coffee drinker and aside from the little changes in lifestyle like going to bed early on Sunday night; another boost that gets me going on Mondays is "Fashion." Yeah, remember the tip/phrase; "look good, feel good?" It does not need much explanation.

Now, the color pink is trending and what better way to show it off this winter than in a pink coat or jacket? definitely a big fashion statement. Whether you work in a corporate or casual work environment, pink color outfits; when styled in the right way can be work appropriate. Another styling tip is to incorporate the color into an outfit with accessories like pink bags and shoes and varying the shade of pink is a great idea too. Below are some outfit inspiration style boards  to start off the week.  Thanks a lot for reading.

Draped in Oversized blue Coat and blanket scarf.

It's Friday! Woot!! Woot!!! And Friday calls for a casual style. This is one of those days when you can't even deal; you just want to go with the flow of the cold, windy, dreary weather. I'm off running errands today and to get ready, I got in my closet and just grabbed the blanket scarf and this huge blue coat and draped them on. The only stylish thing I did for this outfit was making a conscious effort to wear a white button down shirt instead of a sweater. I did throw on a couple of tees under the shirt by the way because the aim or objective here, is just to keep warm.

Oh, I also put on a pair of burgundy color booties for a pop of color (blogged about HERE) and it went well with the colors in the scarf. Like I always say, blanket scarfs are very essential for the Winter time. This particular one I have on here is more like a comforter or duvet because it is really, really huge...😅
Bundled up like this in the cold and running around doing errands, you get the feeling that you are still home laying in bed...hehehe..😉

I hope the week was great for you. I'm so looking forward to having a beautiful weekend and I pray you have a nice one too. What are your "go-to" pieces for staying warm this Winter? Thanks so much for reading.

Maxi Dress + a Hat

Happy Thursday Friends; first of all, I want to say a big "Thank-you" to everyone that stops by this blog. I really appreciate your readership and support. I do not have the best pictures or the best layout and I'm tired of apologizing for my picture quality on here (which actually are taken by my kids with my iPhone camera) but I'm really amazed that other bloggers and visitors do not mind the pictures and they keep stopping by to read and leave comments. So, thank-you all so much. I really appreciate you. Blogging has nothing to do with soliciting for "likes" and "comments" but really all about the love for "Publishing and Sharing."

So, I wore this outfit to Church yesterday for our midweek bible study and you might not know it from the blurry pictures but I am layered-up like an onion. I wore a tank-top maxi black dress over a turtle neck sweater dress and wore my over the knee boots all in this one outfit (due to the freezing temperature) and also a long camel color coat that reaches down to my ankles which I took off to take these pictures 🙆  Then, I flipped on a burgundy color floppy hat for extra warmth and pop of color. Yes! I got the cold taken care of! 😂

Do you know what else I'm happy to take care of? 2017! Yes, 2017 is my year, my baby, and I'm going to take control of it and take care of it the whole year through and by this I mean that I have all things under control by the grace of God. And to take care of it, I'll be doing all I need to succeed according to God's word. I'll read my bible more, pray more and show the love of God to others. Thanks so much for reading.

In the deep purple

Happy Wednesday Friends; I hope the new year is still going great. I'm going to make todays post as short as I can because seriously; I'm tired of whining about my Minnesota weather. The only thing I'll like to say though is that; "we're still in the deep freeze weather wise" with some moderate temperature thrown in here and there.  I decided to use the deep purple color of my sweater as the topic for this post.

This is an outfit comprising of some of the old pieces from my closet. The color combination definitely makes this cold weather bearable. Purple is one of my favorite colors and it is a color that always brings a smile to my face; pairing this deep purple sweater with this graffiti print pencil skirt definitely made my day brighter and warmer. To see how I styled this pencil skirt in a previous post, click HERE. Thank-you for reading.
