Burgundy mock wrap skirt + A fur stole

Happy Tuesday 😀 This post really validates my love for faux fur this season. I have been draping faux fur stoles over most of my outfits recently and I don't think I'm going to stop anytime soon; ha! ha!! So, this is the outfit I wore to Church on Sunday and it might look a little matchy-matchy but at the time, there was no way I was going to leave the house without a scarf and this burgundy color stole I purchased over the holiday was the perfect accessory to go with this burgundy color mock skirt I bought from Boohoo two winters ago. Burgundy is a color that is somewhat prevalent in the fall and winter season and can be perfect in accessories too like the pair of booties I blogged about HERE. At the moment, I'm also loving this beautiful burgundy color velvet clutch HERE

It was freezing last Sunday and I was supposed to wear stockings with this outfit for warmth but I was running late for Church and did not want to waste more time looking for my stockings (I need to do a better job organizing my closet) so I just draped my long camel color coat over this outfit and I felt warm and cozy. The long coat also provided a deep contrast to the matchy-matchy burgundy color and I'm sorry I did not get a picture of it. What do you think of faux fur stoles ladies? Yay! or Nay? Thanks so much for reading.

Plaid Pant + Short furry Vest for Work Monday

Happy Monday Friends; our weather has warmed up a bit and would be bearable for the next two days before we get into the deep freeze again by Wednesday. Any rise in temperature calls for a little change in my winter wardrobe. For work wear Monday today, I'm putting on plaid pants and like I mentioned in a previous post HERE, "plaid prints" if styled right, is great for work.

The obvious color to complement this pants was cream or of-white although a deep solid color like cobalt blue, beige or red would have worked too. My cream color Vera Wang tote and suede block heels, blogged about HERE completed the look. Oh, did I forget to mention the short furry vest? Such a fun  addition to the outfit in my opinion. I purchased the vest from Nordstrom a couple of years ago and actually contemplated taking off the hood but left it on at the last minute. What are your thoughts on plaid pants; yay! or nay?

I'm starting the week off so excited for the new year and all the amazing things in store for me because I know my God got me. I had an awesome time in church yesterday too and believe me when I say; going to God's house on Sunday is a great way to start off the new week. I wish you all a good one wherever you are....*Kisses*

A Coat + Denim Styleboard for the Weekend

So, it is weekend and weekend is for casual wear unless you have a party or an event to dress up to. I'm sharing some casual winter fashion on the blog today with much emphasis placed on the coat. An oversized colorful coat in a solid color or print is a winner any cold winter day.

Throw this mustard color coat over a striped sweater and black denim and you have the perfect outfit to run errands in over the weekend. Also, throw in a leopard print clutch to complement the mustard color coat and the outfit would stand out anywhere.

This oversized grey coat is an icing on the cake for this white sweater and denim look and the trendy velvet clutch is a nice accessory to pair with the outfit for that last minute errand at the end of the day or for a date to the movies. In other words, statement coats like the ones featured in these outfits, transform a casual look from boring to glam; don't you think?

Designer Alert - Aisle Style

                                                                         Aisle Style

Happy Friday friends; today's post is about a special designer/brand known as Aisle Style which specializes in the sale of special occasion dresses for events like weddings, proms, homecomings and communions including any other special event you have planned. It might be a new year but it is not too early to start shopping for that dress or outfit to wear to events during the course of the year. In a couple of months, it is going to be Prom and graduation season and if you need to stand out for that occasion, you'll want to head over to Aisle Style to do some shopping.

This online store has lots of beautiful, quality dresses at very good prices and having perused their website myself, I can tell that the designers pay close attention to every detail, design and quality of  dresses that they sell and they also guarantee global delivery. Although I have not made a purchase on this site yet but I had some communication with their customer service staff when I was introduced to this brand and I really liked and enjoyed the professional and courteous interaction that we had and good customer service is of high importance to me and I'm sure it is to you too. Below, I have highlighted some of the categories of fashion that I really liked on Aisle Style.

                                                        Bridesmaid Dresses UK

There are lots of beautiful bridesmaid dresses with different hemlines and necklines; short dresses, long dresses, tea length, V-neck, sleeveless and even maternity dresses for that special pregnant family member or friend that you want to be in your wedding party. Check out the selections HERE

                                          Prom Dresses

The need to look good for prom cannot be overemphasized and there is a large stock of beautiful Prom dresses to fit every body type and also different lengths, fabrics and style to choose from. Another great perk of shopping on this site is that there is so much detail and description about every dress on their site like sizing, kind of fabric, colors available, tailoring time and shipping information. Check out their Prom selections HERE

                                                        Wedding Dresses

And yes! there are wedding dresses...there can be no Aisle style fashion without wedding dresses in my opinion because the wedding dress is the big deal and there is a huge selection on this site. I have been married for over a decade and not shopping for any wedding dress but I'll definitely refer friends to this site I'm sure you'll do the same too after checking out their selections HERE. There are so many dresses to choose from but the detailed filter on the site helps you to search for the type of dress that you want based on your style and budget.

                                                       Communion Dresses

There is also a large selection of communion dresses for the little ones and the dresses are just as beautiful and chic as the grown-up dresses on the site. And again, the filter on the site is detailed enough to help make your shopping a hassle free one. Also for a small fee, Aisle Style  can ensure a perfect fit for your dresses with a custom measurement service. Check out the selections of communion dresses HERE.

The only reservation I have about this site is that their prices are listed in Pounds and not Dollars so make sure to do a google search on currency equivalence or conversion when you shop on the site; and also pay close attention to the sizing measurements because clothes made overseas tend to run smaller in size. Happy Shopping...

Teal Coat + white washed Denim

Happy Thursday Everyone. My last post was on getting the colors out during the winter season and this post is just a follow up on that. For this post, I'm putting on very summery pieces; a white button down shirt over a pair of white washed, distressed blue denim pants which somewhat look like white denim in these pics. You definitely would not believe that the temperature was freezing in these pics; maybe because the sun was out but the temperature was about -5*F. It takes less than 30 minutes to get frost bite in such weather but I was not so cold; I was "freezzzing happy!"

Yes, that is what a happy outfit or comfortable outfit can do to your mood. When the weather is all grey, cold and moody, people seem to get depressed and cranky a lot; ask the psychologists; they'll tell you more about this "Cold weather blues." It's always easier to feel merry and happy when the weather is nice and the sun is out; maybe this is the main reason people go to vacation in sunny beautiful places and not snowy Minnesota...😂

Okay, back to this outfit; all I needed to do to transform it from summer to Winter was to throw on my heavy teal color coat with a hood and a pair of suede boots which I have had for like forever; over ten years now...hehehe, weathered and beaten by the snow 😅

So that is it for today's outfit and the styling tip I have for the day is that you never let the cold weather dictate your mood. You can wear summery outfits in the winter and just glam or warm it up with winter accessories like gloves, hats, over the knee boots and warm, cozy coats. When you feel depressed, think happy thoughts. Also, being a Christian woman, I'll take it further and tell you that; "Faith works all the time." So, "Faith" it till you make it! I love you for stopping by here and reading.

Yellow Color Coat + blanket Scarf

Happy Wednesday friends; first of all, I'll like to apologize for the quality of the pictures in this post. When you have your little kid as your professional photographer, this is what happens...😂 However, I'm sure if you squint a little bit more, you'll be able to see the outfit I'm wearing...😂 Okay, I'm just kidding!! If anything, I'm quite sure you can see my mustard color coat though. It is an old piece I whopped out of my closet on a freezing afternoon. I threw a blanket scarf over it, paired the whole look with a dark denim pants and over the knee boots and I was out the door; definitely casual at its best.

Hey! I must say too that the blanket scarf is the best thing to happen to fashion lately. To say the truth, it does elevate winter fashion to a whole new level. A blanket scarf wrapped around your neck or thrown over your shoulders keeps you warm and stylish all the time. If you live in the temperate region, make sure you get a couple of them in great colors or print; usually, they look more stylish when they have a plaid or grid print (in my opinion). This freezing temperature is not going to take the fashion or style out of me. All my colorful coats and blanket scarfs are out of the closet and would be taking their turns this winter. See you in the next fashion post; *Kisses...*

Bundle up in fur and boots.

So, it is still very cold in my neck of the woods; extremely cold in fact but we are troopers in the state of Minnesota and we know just how to bundle up when the temperature goes extreme. This outfit featured here is what I wore to a Christmas party with my hubby during the Christmas holidays.

It was an extremely cold evening the day of and I wanted to be cozy and chic. It was not a black-tie event so I knew I wanted to put on a somewhat casual outfit. I picked this bodycon knit dress and draped a faux fur stole across my shoulders then strapped on a belt. 'A very easy outfit to put together at the last minute. I purchased the faux fur from a fabric store in my neighborhood a couple of years ago and it's always a handy accessory during the cold winter months. My Chinese Laundry over the knee boots completed the look. A bit of color variation in the accessories; brown belt, black boots; but all the colors came together with the addition of the fur stole. I did have fun at the party by the way and hubby was super pleased with the outfit.

Styling tip 101- "It is okay to bundle up when it is extremely cold but never, ever lose your edge and chicness." Also, invest in very good shape wear or under garments if you are going to wear a bodycon dress.

Winter Whites

So, the first post on the blog this here is a fashion style board on winter whites. Whites is a color that does not have any season these days because it can be just as fabulous in the winter as it is in the summer depending on how you style it. I do not wear whites that much in the past but I think that is going to change this year starting from a white color themed baby shower I'll be attending in a couple of weeks. Here is to some styling inspiration for winter whites this season...

The main tip to consider when styling whites or building a monochromatic look is playing with textures; mixing knits, faux fur, sequins and fun accessories like pearl necklaces and crystal earrings. The goal is to look chic and elegant when wearing a monochrome look. When not styled right, a monochrome styling of winter whites can end up looking like a uniform. Another tip is to mix shades of the same color or add in a pop of color with an outer coat. Happy styling...
