The Blue Tribal..

Hi Friends, I hope the new week and the month of August is going great so far. My mini break from blogging is over and I'm back….:-). It's all about custom made these days. I wore this blue tribal dress yesterday and I have had this dress for so long that I was surprised that I didn't showcase it on the blog before now. I made it years ago when the high-low dress was really on trend. I bought the fabric from a fabric store on line and got the appliqués from one of the local stores, drew a sketch and my seamstress brought it to life. The good thing about custom made clothes is that they are original and unique. I decided to go without jewelry because I thought the dress had enough bling on it already with the stone appliqués.

The last time I wore this same dress before I wore it yesterday, was in January on the day of my baby dedication; just days after my baby boy was born. I chose the dress because I wanted to wear something blue and it was the first item that jumped on my mind when I got in my closet. I remember I had done a collage on a high-low dress on Polyvore and I blogged about it here showing how I would style this dress. This charcoal canvas pointed toe shoe is a recent addition and I wore the coral color here.

Dress: Custom made
Purse: T.J Maxx
Shoes: Victoriassecret

The picture below is one of the pics that was taken on the day of the baby dedication in church and that is my friend Naya holding my newborn son Zion. Naya is one stylish and beautiful lady and I loved her dress too. It was also custom made and she had on this cute teal jacket and a pair of fabulous sparkly heels. I hope I'll be able to showcase Naya on the blog again sometime.

It's amazing how time flies. It's hard to believe that it's almost eight months that I had my baby. The only evidence is that I'm still chubby but I'm not in a hurry to get on the treadmill just yet because I'm still nursing. Okay, let me not bore you with all the baby gist…:-). Does anyone like custom made clothes like I do? It's good to channel your inner creativity sometimes.

'Wishing you all a great week. Take charge of the week and remember that "with God, all things are possible."

First Quarter Recap

How Time Flies…

I would like to say it is funny how time flies; but it is not funny at all…:-). Somehow, it's hard to believe that we are already at the end of April. Didn't we just have a New year's day not too long ago??? **Sigh** As difficult as it might be to comprehend, it is real.

I thank God for his grace and his faithfulness. He has clothe us with his protection and we are ever grateful. At this time, I pause to count all my blessings that God has bestowed upon me. I did lose a very dear family member recently; my maternal grandma who passed away at the age of 93. Somehow, I had hoped she was going to make it to a 100 years so, I was sad when I got the news of her death. I could not make the trip to Africa for the funeral rites because of my new born and I give God praise for the journey mercies of all my family members that went home for the rites. In life, there are challenges but it does not change the fact that God is God no matter what. My Grandma was saved and she lived a very good and fulfilled life so we all celebrate the life that she lived and that is why I did not mention it on the blog earlier when it happened. Now, that I'm doing an official first quarter recap; a feature I just started on the blog, I felt it was necessary to mention it.

Now unto blogging issues, I want to launch this new segment that I would be doing every four months on the blog in which I would do a recap of the previous months including outfit posts, gists or any other important event or information that comes up. I'm still thinking of how and what to do for my first give away. I have had very amazing time in the blogging community and have made some awesome friends too and I think it is time to say thank you…:-). I will definitely draw up a plan on a Giveaway before the onset of summer. Now to the outfit recap…

Sweater Dress: Victoriassecret (old)

These are some of the outfits I wore from the beginning of the year till date and I must say I achieved quite a bit in the color department. I also grew a lot in my spirituality and I know greater things are in store for the rest of the year. You want to come with me for the ride? It's never too late!…:-) It's never too late to add some color to your closet and it is certainly not too late to make friends with Jesus.

Casual day, prayer day.

Hi friends, I'm back in cobalt blue and metallic silver but first of all, I want to say a big "thank-you" to everyone who stopped by to read and comment on my last post. It was nice reading all those comments. I would stop by to visit everyone in no time. My 12 weeks FMLA is done and I went back to work last week. I must say I had fun while I was on leave and I was able to bond with my baby and my family. Also, I'm glad that I was able to weather all the snow storms of the season in my warm comfy bed...:-) If you have driven in a snow storm or just after a storm, you will surely know that it is not fun. I know most people are just tired of the snow and cold already and are ready for the warm weather. My plan for the summer includes spending time with my family and friends, working out at the gym (I need to lose all this excess baby weight...:-)) and shopping and more shopping..:-)

Usually, I do not wear denim to church unless it is a  mid-week prayer service but there are exceptions to the rule..:-) and last Sunday had to be such an exception. Instead of having a formal church service, we sometimes have prayer services on Sunday and casual wear is allowed. It's just like when we wear jeans to casual events or to go play at the park but this time, we wear jeans to go to pray. "Pray hard because prayer changes all situation." More so, a prayerful Christian is a powerful Christian.

So, this denim pants that kind of look like "dress pants" is very appropriate for any semi-formal occasion. I topped it with a white blouse and the cobalt blue jacket I bought from Forever 21 a while back. My old Calvin Klein metallic silver shoes finished the look and I like how it matched the buttons on my jacket. The tribal prints scarf was added at the last minute and the oatmeal color kind of complemented the shoes. A casual and fun outfit at the same time.

Jacket: Forever21

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Enjoy the rest of the week.
