As we know, Christmas is around the corner and it is that time of the year again; time to spread love and give gifts out of love to friends and family. The gifts or presents do not have to be expensive if we cannot afford it but it certainly has to be given out of love I reiterate. Above are some gift ideas I would love to give this season and these are for female friends and family but you can also get inspiration from these items too to get some wonderful gifts for men and children.

So, my eight year old son just signed up for basketball and we take him for practice twice a week and I decided to do a post on what to wear to a sports event and came up with the outfit collages above. As a fashion blogger (I am not a stylist though) I believe you have to wear the right clothes to the right occasion. I mean, denim or jeans works well for any sporting event because jeans is really, really casual. However, I decided to make my denim/jeans more interesting by adding a piece which is unusual and unexpected; at least for me and that's why I built my outfits around bomber jackets. I recently added a couple to my wardrobe and I think I now have an interesting outer wear/jacket collection. Do you own any bomber jacket?

Hot Pink and black

Hi friends, this is one of the pink outfits I wore in the month of October and as we all know; October is breast cancer awareness month. It's important for every woman to find a way in bringing awareness to this ailment; either through donation to a foundation; spreading awareness about it or taking part in prayer groups and support groups for patients, victims and their families. Women are strong and powerful and we need every woman around to contribute their best to the building of families and a strong community. I like to feature a pink outfit on the blog in the month of October and you can check out the one I did last year here.

Sweater: Victorias Secret
Shoes:Victorias Secret (old)
Bag: gifted
Skirt: Loft
Necklace: Walmart

Do you wear any pink outfits in the month of October to raise awareness to breast cancer or do you wear pink now and then on a regular basis? I know there are some ladies who do not like to wear pink clothing and do not like the color pink and that is okay too. I'll be back again for more fashion chit chat.

Fall Floral Dress

There are so many things in life that make me happy besides my faith and family and one of such is dressing up and looking good on a dime. I do like designers' items because they are usually of great quality but my satisfaction with a fashion piece lies more with how beautiful it is than with the label or price of the item and this Chicwish dress just embodies all that. Its' cut, style and quality is just impeccable and it can be worn to almost any occasion.

I purchased the dress at the beginning of the summer and just wore it to church for the first time this past Sunday; after which I went to a friend's baby dedication and the dress was festive enough for the celebration. Also, our weather in Minnesota has been great so far and I still can't believe the fact that I am able to wear a sleeveless dress without a jacket in November. The large floral pattern and color of this dress is just suitable for fall. If you are interested in getting one, it is currently on sale for less than $50 on Chicwish.

Dress: Chicwish here
Belt: Target
Pumps: Asos

I know I have not been consistent with my blogging because I am starting to get addicted to the instagram app but I have made a conscious effort to keep my blog running and I'll start posting as often as I can from now on and interacting with all my blogger friends again. So, see you soon on your blogs.

Lace in the Shadows...

I am back and I am excited! I took an unplanned break from the blog for a few days but photo sharing never really stopped because I was busy on my instagram; @beautyojo. Can you believe the year is almost ended? My oh my! Thanksgiving and Christmas is just around the corner. Well, the celebration has started at this end. I had a party last Saturday to celebrate my birthday and it was loads of fun. My friends went far and beyond to make the party so much fun and I am so grateful.

This JCrew lace dress is what I wore for my party and this dress almost never happened because it arrived Friday night after I made an overnight express purchase on Thursday. I had one of those "Aha" moment when I looked in my closet days before making the purchase but could not find anything to wear for my party. I mean, my closet is full to the brim and yet; I could not put an outfit together! Thank God this dress made it on time. I actually bought the dress, necklace, earrings and belt in one purchase and thankfully, JCrew had a sale going on; the shoes are old though; I got them from DSW years ago. I got the glitter belt for $11 from the JCrew girls' department and I checked again a few days ago but it's all sold out. I must have gotten the last piece and I am glad I got it because it did add some bling to the dress.

Dress: J Crew
Jewelry: Jcrew
Sandals:(old)  DSW
belt: Jcew

I apologize for the shadows in the pictures; I waited for hours for the sun to go down so I could take some pictures on my front porch but it stayed up even late in the evening so, I asked my son to take the pictures anyway and decided to include the shadows in the title of the blog post; kind of the old saying; "when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade."
