A Beautiful Day

It was a very beautiful day in Minneapolis today; the weather was perfect; sunny, warm and gorgeous. I was in the mood to enjoy the sun and decided to wear a pencil skirt and this zebra prints skirt that I purchased from Macys two summers ago was my first choice. I also wore my newest pointed toe black pumps that I talked about here and used one of my colorful scarfs as a snood; a very simple outfit. Also,  my wig is gone and the dreads are out!..:-)

I had a great time in church today and after the service, hubby and I took the kids to the park and we had so much fun. I hope the weather was nice and beautiful where you live too.

Cut Out Colie

Hi Friends, I hope you all had a great mother's day weekend like I did. The weekend was spent hanging out with friends and family and culminated in a nice dinner in church right after the service. It still feels a little chilly in the mornings and evenings in Minnesota and it has been very cloudy the last couple of days with occasional rainfall therefore I did not have any trouble getting dressed for the church service on Sunday. For one, I knew I wanted to wear pants to keep warm and since I also knew that I was going to be around food and kids for a good part of the day, I decided to wear dark colors. After I picked this brown pants I purchased from T. J. Maxx years ago, I remembered that I had the perfect pair of shoes to go with it; my grape and brown color Jessica Simpson Cut-out, Colie Pumps! I decided to go with minimal jewelry because of the busy and loud outfit; grape colored jacket, animal prints shirt, brown pants, cut-out Colie pumps..win! win!!…:-)

Do you see some dandelions sticking out of my right pocket? My little girl picked them up from the grass and said; "Mum, you still need more flowers because it is mother's day; take these and hold them while you take your pictures." How sweet!..:-). They dropped from my pocket a while later and I forgot to fix my right pocket…:-). Talk about wardrobe malfunction but I had so much fun. It feels good to be around family and people who truly love you and who you truly love. That being said; let's love one another and everyone as ourselves and let's continue to pray for our little girls to be freed so that they can go home to their families.

Paisley Prints

Hi Everyone, I wore an outfit from the "Oldies" part of my closet to church today. "Oldies" are those outfits that I have had for years and only get to wear once in a while and do not want to donate. The reason I do not donate an oldies outfit is because it is old first of all and also, I do not want to go and spend money getting a replacement; kind of like donating the only "Animal Prints Dress" or shoes that you own. I would give it away though if I really have to.

This paisley dress still has a space in my closet for the reason stated above. The prints is so bold and busy that it's kind of difficult to pull off. The material/fabric is also very clingy and unforgiving and I got a reminder today that I need to hit the gym very soon…:-). It's time to get rid of the baby weight. The dress is a halter neck dress and not appropriate for church so I had to throw on a black jacket over it. I accessorized the dress with green accessories which includes my old pair of Jessica Simpson Pumps and a scarf. These green pointed toe suede pumps are the first pair of green shoes I ever purchased and I do love green colored shoes…:-)

I had an awesome time in church today and enjoyed some spanish cuisine afterwards curtsey of my Spanish friends who were having an early Cinco de Mayo celebration. I hope you had a great weekend too.

First Quarter Recap

How Time Flies…

I would like to say it is funny how time flies; but it is not funny at all…:-). Somehow, it's hard to believe that we are already at the end of April. Didn't we just have a New year's day not too long ago??? **Sigh** As difficult as it might be to comprehend, it is real.

I thank God for his grace and his faithfulness. He has clothe us with his protection and we are ever grateful. At this time, I pause to count all my blessings that God has bestowed upon me. I did lose a very dear family member recently; my maternal grandma who passed away at the age of 93. Somehow, I had hoped she was going to make it to a 100 years so, I was sad when I got the news of her death. I could not make the trip to Africa for the funeral rites because of my new born and I give God praise for the journey mercies of all my family members that went home for the rites. In life, there are challenges but it does not change the fact that God is God no matter what. My Grandma was saved and she lived a very good and fulfilled life so we all celebrate the life that she lived and that is why I did not mention it on the blog earlier when it happened. Now, that I'm doing an official first quarter recap; a feature I just started on the blog, I felt it was necessary to mention it.

Now unto blogging issues, I want to launch this new segment that I would be doing every four months on the blog in which I would do a recap of the previous months including outfit posts, gists or any other important event or information that comes up. I'm still thinking of how and what to do for my first give away. I have had very amazing time in the blogging community and have made some awesome friends too and I think it is time to say thank you…:-). I will definitely draw up a plan on a Giveaway before the onset of summer. Now to the outfit recap…

Sweater Dress: Victoriassecret (old)

These are some of the outfits I wore from the beginning of the year till date and I must say I achieved quite a bit in the color department. I also grew a lot in my spirituality and I know greater things are in store for the rest of the year. You want to come with me for the ride? It's never too late!…:-) It's never too late to add some color to your closet and it is certainly not too late to make friends with Jesus.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Rain, Rain, Go Away…

It's a rainy day in the twin cities today. The rain started as a heavy thunderstorm last night and went on all through the morning. I knew the rain was forecast in the news a few days ago but I woke up with no idea of what to wear to church today. The only thing I was sure of was that I was going to wear my "All Weather Shoes." My good old trusted Qupid patent platform heels can weather all kind of storms…:-) Snow, rain, hail…All I have to do at the end of the day is to wipe it with a clean piece of towel, lay it on the vanity to dry and then put it away for next time.

At first, I thought of wearing winter boots then decided against it. I was done with anything winter in my mind, body, soul and spirit. After perusing in my closet for a few minutes, I quickly put together an outfit; a black and white check jacket over a pair of orange color pants. It was a very simple outfit and the orange color pants made the whole outfit pop. As the rain poured, I had the nagging temptation to sneak under the blankets with a hot cup of cocoa in my hand and the remote control at my side but then I quickly rejected the idea. I was late for church at the end of the day but I'm glad I made it. Hubby got ready so quick and was on his way with the kids so I made it there on my own and actually enjoyed driving in the down pour.

It is funny how people can be so scared or respectful of their bosses and supervisors at work and would do anything to get to work on a rainy or snowy day but when it comes to going to church, the weather becomes an excuse. Well, I'm glad I was not part of that crowd today. I found my good old brolly which I had not used in ages and as I opened it up, I thought of how umbrellas have changed over the years. These days, they are an item of fashion; fancy and stylish. As I drove, I got inspired to sing some rhymes about my brolly and I have poured it on the space below…:-)

                                                                          Pants: J. C. Penny
                                                                          White tee: Hanes
                                                                          Heels: Qupid
                                                                          Jacket: Thrifted

My good old, old,  brolly
ever ready, ever lovely

My good old brolly,
wide, round and comfy
brown wooden handle,
Good, good grapple

Now, they're transparent,
sometimes look like a tent
seen with models strutting the runway
customized and designed, all kinds of way
My good old brolly, remains black and lovely

Yes, it is old fashioned but I never use it with caution
It is strong, reliable and ever lovable
it might not have style yet it's always right

My old brolly, ever ready,
Ever lovely.

**Peace**

Thanks so much for stopping by. I wish you all the best in the new week.

                                                                    **God Bless**
