Shoe Lovin'

Sam Edelman Desiree Pumps

Hi Friends,  since the pointed toe shoe trend is still here and I only have a limited collection, I'm considering adding one or more pairs to my closet and this cute camel/black/white combination from shoe designer Sam Edelman caught my eye. I am one who always go for versatile items and the fact that this shoe can be worn or styled with different pieces is an A-plus. It's also affordable and would not break the bank. Remember style/fashion is about beauty and quality rather than cost. Have a blessed day.

Casual day, prayer day.

Hi friends, I'm back in cobalt blue and metallic silver but first of all, I want to say a big "thank-you" to everyone who stopped by to read and comment on my last post. It was nice reading all those comments. I would stop by to visit everyone in no time. My 12 weeks FMLA is done and I went back to work last week. I must say I had fun while I was on leave and I was able to bond with my baby and my family. Also, I'm glad that I was able to weather all the snow storms of the season in my warm comfy bed...:-) If you have driven in a snow storm or just after a storm, you will surely know that it is not fun. I know most people are just tired of the snow and cold already and are ready for the warm weather. My plan for the summer includes spending time with my family and friends, working out at the gym (I need to lose all this excess baby weight...:-)) and shopping and more shopping..:-)

Usually, I do not wear denim to church unless it is a  mid-week prayer service but there are exceptions to the rule..:-) and last Sunday had to be such an exception. Instead of having a formal church service, we sometimes have prayer services on Sunday and casual wear is allowed. It's just like when we wear jeans to casual events or to go play at the park but this time, we wear jeans to go to pray. "Pray hard because prayer changes all situation." More so, a prayerful Christian is a powerful Christian.

So, this denim pants that kind of look like "dress pants" is very appropriate for any semi-formal occasion. I topped it with a white blouse and the cobalt blue jacket I bought from Forever 21 a while back. My old Calvin Klein metallic silver shoes finished the look and I like how it matched the buttons on my jacket. The tribal prints scarf was added at the last minute and the oatmeal color kind of complemented the shoes. A casual and fun outfit at the same time.

Spring 2014 Trends- Into the Garden

Alexander McQueen
  Floral-Print Long Knuckle-Duster Clutch Bag

I'm loving Florals-one of this year's trend. It's out in full bloom in dresses, bags, shoes and various other accessories this year. I think floral prints have always been there and never really left the scene. For someone who does not shop every trend, this is one trend I can not help but indulge. After all, I already have a closet full of floral prints. I used to think that floral prints make one look matronly but I guess I am wrong...

The above selections are beautiful and chic but being designer pieces, they're quite very pricey. A visit to the local fabric store is a must for any lady on a budget who wishes to indulge in this trend. Before then, get into the garden and enjoy the bloom. Thanks so much for visiting.

Print Things

Hi everyone; this is the outfit I wore to church today. An animal prints jacket over a pair of black pants was needed on such a beautiful day as this. The weather is slowly warming up and it was actually in the upper forties today. It felt so nice that there was no need for layers; jackets, gloves, hats and socks are out the window for now and I think they'll not be needed anymore until next winter. The only thing we have to deal with for now are all the slush and nasty mud from the melting snow. Hello Spring!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by. My blog turned two last week and it has really been an amazing journey. I have never hosted a giveaway and I have started brainstorming on how I'll celebrate my two years blog anniversary. There is need for celebration so I see giveaways in the nearest future. Now, I'll share with you the scripture for the day.

Romans 12: 1-2

1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Purple and brown going down..

Hi beautiful people of Blogsville, I hope we are all having a wonderful week so far. I can't wait for spring to get here! The temperature is gradually getting warmer in Minneapolis. It was in the teens today and it felt like seventies! (in our minds, that is...:-)) It's going to get warmer the rest of the week and that is good news. This is what I wore to church last Sunday. I have started adding color gradually to my wardrobe and cannot wait to bloom when Spring gets here...:-) sixteen more days to the official start of Spring people! woot! woot!!

And the Oscar goes to!

And the OSCAR goes to!!!

I usually do not blog about Hollywood award shows or so called TV personalities because I rather spend that time/blog post on some other topic more meaningful to me. I am not judging anyone but in my own opinion, most of those  TV personalities out there do not make efforts to present themselves as proper role models. It's not just about being a fashion icon, you have to live your life as a role model too.

That being said, I could not help it but dedicate a blog post to last night's winner of the supporting actress role at the OSCARS. And the Oscar goes to Lupita Nyong'o!!!! The beautiful, stylish and talented actress is indeed a winner in all aspects. Her remarkable role in the movie 12 years a Slave paid off. I like the way Jennifer Lawrence embraced and rejoiced with Lupita too even though she was also a nominee in the same category.

Love All...

Hi Everyone, I hope the week is going well. This is what I wore last week to my son's school for the parents/teachers conference. It was a very cold, cold day and all I cared about was getting warm so, I put on layers and layers of clothing. I did have a baby nine weeks ago (just in case there is anyone reading this post/blog for the first time) and I still have on the baby/pregnancy weight but that is not what makes me huge in this picture...:-) Like I said before, it is all the layers of clothing.

So, why am I emphasizing this fact? The point I am really trying to make is this. Fat, skinny, medium or whatever; love them all! Do not discriminate. A person might be fat or so skinny right now and you do not know why or how they are like that or what brought them there so do not be so quick to throw stones...:-) Also, some might be gay while others are straight and it is okay. Never, never discriminate. The Bible never teaches discrimination. When Jesus Christ was on this earth, he loved everyone; sinners, tax collectors, Jews, brown or white. He loved everyone irrespective of their orientation and that was why he was able to die for us all so that we can be cleansed of our sins. Jesus ate with the tax collectors (Luke 19: 1-10) who were regarded as great sinners at that time because of their extortion and corruption. Jesus also went further to say that he did not come for the righteous but the unrighteous; the healthy people do not need a doctor, only the sick do. (Matthew 9: 11-13)

Now, back to my outfit; I am wearing a sweater dress (previously worn here) as a top. I have had this corduroy midi skirt for a while and it only gets worn on very chilly days as this. The long black tights and booties were needed as part of the "getting warm campaign"...:-). Then I had to throw in a splash of color with the fuchsia scarf. There were various pieces of clothing underneath it all too and then a jacket which I took off to take these pictures. It started snowing again as I took the pictures and the snow flakes just whipped across my face. Anyway, In sub zero temperatures, the first focus is to get warm rather than being stylish; and yes, I looked fat and bulky but it's all good. "Love All.."

Thanks for visiting and for leaving your warm and stylish comments...:-)

Against a block of Ice

Hi all, I hope we are all having a wonderful week so far. Yeah, this is me leaning against a block of ice or a block of snow whatever you want to call it;  and this is what I wore to church last Sunday. I wore an emerald green suede jacket over a pair of tailored pants and white tee and completed the look with a pair of light green nine west heels. The outfit was all about the green jacket because it was a huge splash of color. I spent some time trying to see if the look was better off with a pair of black pointed toe pumps before I finally decided on the green heels.

These pictures were taken after I got back from church and I looked a little tired but I really did have a nice time in church. A lot was said about faith and how important it is to trust God in every situation of our lives. Sometimes, when we encounter some problems in our lives, it really does feel like we have hit a block of ice and that there is no solution to the problem. The right attitude to have at such times is to keep on believing that God can cause a change in that situation according to his will. All we have to do is to keep on believing and hold unto our faith. Eventually, the block of ice would melt and turn into water and it would flow away and we would stand on solid ground!

                                                   Green Jacket: Old
                                                                White tee: Hanes
                                                                 Pants: Isaac Mizrahi (Target)
                                                                 Shoes: Nine West
                                                                 Bag: Kenneth Cole Reaction

Spring is almost here. Let's continue to love God and also continue to bring on the color splashes! Thanks so much for visiting.

Happy or Sad?

Hi everyone; hope we are all keeping warm in this never ending Winter?...:-) We are currently having a winter storm in Minnesota. I took these pictures about two hours ago just when the snow flakes started flying. Right now, we have close to four inches of snow on the ground and there are huge flakes still dropping from the sky. I am happy that I'm home on maternity leave and do not have to do a lot of driving; that means I get to play in the snow with my kids whenever I want...;-) However, I understand that there are others that have to wake up and clean the snow from their driveways, from their cars and then drive in it to work. On the other hand, there are others who rely on the snow to make a living; like those who work on the ski resort. So, some are happy for the snow storm while others are not. Well, I'm home wearing my old sweater dress I purchased from Victoriassecret a while back. I layered it with a yellow scarf for some splash of color and a faux fur vest I recently purchased from a local mall. I love the snaps on the vest. My new booties from Victoriassecret completed the look.

Happy or sad? Whose side are you on if you are among those dealing with the winter blues right now?

Thanks so much for your comments...:-)
