Jewelry Monday

Good morning Friends; grab a cup of coffee if you haven't done so already because we have some special "ladies chit-chat" on the blog today. It is Monday and usually we discuss Work wear on the blog but  because it is the season of giving and all things beautiful;  we are going to discuss Jewelry. Just sincerely here (Moi) tries to showcase various forms of fashion on this blog but I must say that much attention has not been paid to this essential part of our wardrobe and I am making things right by introducing you to this cool Jewelry brand I just discovered; AUrateJewelry

                                                           About AUrate

AUrate is a Jewelry company based in New York  and founded by two beautiful ladies; Sophie Kahn and Bouchra Ezzahraoul with combined background in fashion and finance. Their jewelry is made of real quality gold and designed and crafted in New York with customer satisfaction in mind. The company also gives back to the community by donating a book to a child in need with every purchase made; how awesome!

We all know Christmas is here and it is the season of giving. Jewelry is an essential piece of every woman's wardrobe and most people appreciate jewelry as gifts. This time of the season is also the time to update our wardrobe and if you are looking to reward yourself, you definitely would want to shop some pieces from this line. I went through the website and found some favorites.

What to wear to Church on a snowy Sunday

It's a snowy Sunday in my neck of the woods and a snowy day calls for chic and comfy outfit when you are stepping out of the house to go to Church. Since Christmas is on Sunday this year, we'll definitely be going to Church all dressed up and if there is snow on the ground as it is today in my city, then much thought should be put on our accessories; boots, faux fur scarfs, furry coats... The fur just adds so much elegance and chicness to an outfit.

An alternative to draping ourselves in big warm comfy coat is using furry shawls, snoods and scarves and below is some outfit inspiration for a snowy Sunday and some furry chic accessories.

Shopping Saturday: Pleated Skirts

Velvet / Metallic Pleated Skirt

Happy Saturday Friends. The weekend is for chores and shopping and like a never ending circle, trends keep bouncing off the runways into the stores and the shopping goes on and on. If you are down with keeping up with the ever revolving trends, then you might have seen or already purchased a velvet or metallic pleated skirt. Yes, it is not trendy just to have a pleated midi skirt right now! Haha!! The velvet / metallic pleated skirt has taken over.

As a disclaimer, this blog here or my fashion blog posts are not meant to turn you into a shopaholic but rather, it is an avenue for us savvy stylish Moms and ladies to view and discuss fashion for our entertainment and curiosity and maybe, we can do a little shopping along the way too. Cheers to that!!..Lol

Shoe - Lovin' - Burgundy Block heel Booties

Amongst all the fabulous items trending this Fall; velvet, pleat skirts, bomber jacket; is the burgundy color block heel booties also known as wine color, deep red or oxblood color booties. The deep rich color is such a beautiful pop of color for any Fall ensemble. As always, if you like trendy things but you are also a savvy fashionista; it is advised that you tread gently before joining the trend bandwagon because you do not know how long the trend is going to be around for. Rather than spend a lot of money getting the most expensive pair, shop around for a beautiful pair from a low end designer and style it with other high end pieces and you'll end up looking like a million bucks!

I purchased this pair from DSW a while ago and the quality and style looks great. The top of the booties hits perfectly at the ankles and what I love most about it is that the suede fabric covers the heels and that adds to the beauty of the boots. For the price, this pair is definitely a good deal. Check it out in the link below along with other higher designer options if you are interested.

Fall Florals and Happy December!

Happy new Month Friends! I pray that God's grace, blessings and love overwhelm everyone of you including me in this new month of December. The year is almost at an end; how amazing!! I'm always excited for the month of December and not just for the holidays and celebration alone but mostly for the fact that the holiday (Christmas) is a great reminder of the gift of salvation that God gave to everyone. Also, my youngest one; was born on Christmas day three years ago so, we have two celebrations in my home on Christmas day now; Christmas party and birthday celebration. Can you peep my daughter in the glass door taking my pictures? My kids are my photographers for this blog and they help to keep it running. I am so grateful to God for them. Right now, we take all my pics with cell phone cameras but maybe I'll entrust them with my DSLR camera in the new year.

In this post, I am wearing a floral blouse I purchased from LOFT during their recent sale. The prints is just so beautiful and the colors definitely represent the Fall season. The blouse sold out so fast but it was restocked only in a dress version/style and you can buy it HERE. The palazzo or sailor  pants are also from Loft and the story behind them is quite interesting. I saw it online when it was first released and it looked so beautiful and stylish but I was very disappointed at the reviews. Most of the people who purchased a pair said they either returned it or were planning to because of the quality and fit. The pants immediately went on sale and as someone who likes a good deal, I went ahead and purchased a pair with the hopes of sending it for alteration if it fit badly. The extra money saved on the sale can always go to alteration I thought.

Well, the pants sat in the closet for weeks and I never sent it for alteration and here I am, wearing it as baggy as it is! Haha!!...Lol. I topped it with a pair of platform heels I had not worn in a while too and I can understand now why platform heels are not trending anymore...Lol. It might be my opinion, but I think the pointed toe pumps are very chic and add more class to an outfit. So, these platform heels would go back in the shoe closet again. Maybe, platforms would recycle back to Fashion again soon.

I must say now that I have brought out my old singer sewing machine from the storage. I bought it over five years ago and thought I would go for sewing classes but that never happened. One of my plans for the new year is to register for sewing classes and put my sewing machine to use. I'm sure I'll have this pants fitted very soon and I'll do another styling post on it. What are your plans for the new year? Are you planning on learning any new thing or hobby? Some sewing, baking or knitting classes would not hurt...

Layered in Florals

Happy Wednesday Friends;  I am sharing this look I wore to Church a few days ago. Although we already had our first snow fall in my city, the temperature was okay and not too cold so I wanted to wear light layers and my new velvet flats blogged about HERE. I threw on a white sweatshirt over my Chicwish floral dress previously blogged about HERE to achieve a "top over a skirt" look and it totally worked because a few friends thought I was wearing a skirt and a top.

It is good to note that Chicwish also had maxi skirts in this same fabric at the time this dress was released for sale two summers ago but why buy a skirt and a dress in the same fabric when you can style a dress as a skirt? This is a question to ponder when you shop for clothes this holiday season. I'm always up for any styling tip that can help me get the most out of my wardrobe or closet.

Bomber Jacket and Green Pleat Skirt

Hi Friends, I trust we all had a great Thanksgiving weekend; mine was so much fun. I spent time with family and friends and there was lots of food and dancing involved. Yeah, I must say I enjoyed the dancing just as much as the food and with extra dancing planned for this next weekend, I should be able to lose the extra pounds gained from eating all that food. I'll be talking about dancing a lot in the next upcoming holiday posts because I have discovered that it is the best exercise for anyone; very inexpensive and the only motivation you need is some good music.

This outfit was my Thanksgiving attire featuring a bomber jacket over pleated maxi skirt. Bomber jackets and pleat skirts are trending right now and like I always say when it comes to Fashion; nothing is really new; fashion recycles. I got this skirt made three years ago. I went to the Fabric store and saw this mini pleat fabric that I really love and I bought them in five colors; purple, red, green, blue and black. I had three made into maxi skirts and I'm still thinking of what to make with the other two colors left. Any suggestions? pleated dress, pants....Seriously, I need suggestions on what else to make with pleated fabric aside from skirts and dresses...Thanks for your feedback.

Maxi skirt: Custom made / Sweater dress worn as top: Victorias secret / Bomber Jacket: House of Fraser / Boots: blogged about here.
