Birthday Photos

Hi Friends, so these are some of the pictures from my son's birthday party. Most of the pictures were taken with cell phones and they are not of the best quality so, I apologize..:-). My home also needs some remodeling and re-decoration which I'm going to get to very soon so pardon me if you think my interior decor is old fashioned...:-).

So, this is the blouse I wore inside my jacket and like I said in my earlier post, I did not want to wear anything Christmassy or sparkly; I just wanted to wear something fun and colorful. I admit a jacket on denim or white on white is not the most fun outfit for a kid's party but hey, it's winter time okay? I needed the jacket for warmth and who says you can't wear white after labor day?...:-)

My outfit is similar to this collage I created on Polyvore (you can see my previous post here.) but I wish my pieces were the same high end designer stuff!

So, the outfit actually started like this; I wore this mint color camisole at first that I purchased from Marshals a long time ago but I did not like the fit and I felt it was more appropriate for a grown up event so I took it off but not before taking some pictures of it.

Then, I switched the blouse with this pleated version that I have also owned for a while. When I put my outfit together the day before, I made sure I had both blouses ready just in case one did not work out or incase there was a wardrobe malfunction. It's always good to have a back up plan when you are planning for an event.

I just had to throw in the sparkly heels for some holiday fun but the heels came off shortly after because I was not going to step on my little guests' feet with my four inch heels. We all know how little kids like to run around.

Blouse: T.J. Maxx: old

Yeah, I matched outfits with one of my friends that was around to celebrate with me; fun right? She was looking so radiant and beautiful. She had a baby in the first week of January this year; just days after I did so the next party is at her end...hehehe...:-). I'll show you my outfit for the party later. Yeah, I picked it out already.

Birthday Boy

So, that's it guys. I usually like to use balloons whenever I decorate for a kid's party because they can always play with the balloons later with adult supervision of course. Also, I hung some snowflakes decor from the ceiling and hung a scene setter feature wall with balloons attached to it. Of course the Christmas tree was decorated in a corner in another part of the living room and all the gifts have already been opened as I'm writing this post; a lot of goodies...:-). The food was also delicious and I'm so happy that most of my friends took time off from other activities on such a busy holiday to celebrate with me and my family. It was a fun Christmas now; we look forward to the new year.

Yes, Christmas is over but the New year holiday is just around the corner and we still have to dress up for it. Sparkly and sequin embellished outfits are very perfect for this holiday but if you are dressing up for that new year party where you want to stand out or you just want to glam up for the holiday, you might get inspired by the outfits above. There is no lace or sequins or sparkles in the dresses but the touch of red certainly does give the air of sophistication.

                                               The Unconventional Holiday Outfit.

Can I have that Victoria Beckham's wool jacket and that high waisted pants? Also, I would like a pair of that Manolo Blahnik patent pumps and that statement necklace. Or, I can just give my list to Santa...oh, Christmas is over?..:-) I guess I'll have to give Santa the list for next Christmas. My Christmas holiday was so busy and so much fun that I didn't pay much attention to the time. Looking back now, I think the day went by so fast.

I had a birthday party for my son who was born last Christmas and it was indeed a double celebration. It was not an easy decision though picking what to wear. Initially, I wanted to do the traditional holiday outfit by picking a dress or an outfit with sparkles, sequins and red or black colors then I decided to do something completely different. I wore a white pant suit with a mint color blouse and there was nothing christmasy about my outfit. The decor and colors for the birthday party were also unconventional. Since Christmas and Santa were very obvious themes for a party at this time of the year, I decided to keep things really simple and that included my outfit. I do not have all the high end pieces in this collage that is modeled after my Christmas outfit but I had fun playing dress up and recreating the outfit. The only item that was conventional in my outfit was my sparkly metallic heels. I can't wait to show you pictures of how I recreated the outfit above just by shopping my closet.

A very Merry White Christmas and a Winner.

Hi Friends, it's almost bed time now and I'm trying so hard to keep my eyes open but I would get my much needed sleep as soon as I sign off on this post. I just wanted to share some few images with with you. After we had a few warm days that melted all the snow on the ground, we thought there was no hope for having a white Christmas in Minnesota. However, low and behold, huge snow flakes started falling from the sky this morning and it was really exciting for everyone to see especially the kids.

If you live in a snowy area or in an area that has the four seasons, you can relate to what I'm talking about. The highlight of the whole winter season is having snow on the ground for the holidays especially Christmas eve/Christmas day. So, seeing the flakes fly this morning was such a blessing and it did not stop friends from showing up to celebrate our little boy's birthday with us. A few friends traveled to some place warm to vacation and celebrate the Christmas and New Year holidays but almost all the ones that were around showed up at our house party. It was a small dinner event and it was so much fun. Above are pictures of the outdoors earlier in the day when it was snowing  and a selfie picture with one of my friends. I'll put up a few pictures from the event later.

                                 The winner of the fragrance Mist and fragrance tray giveaway is;

                                                                        "Missy May"

Thanks so much Missy for participating in the Giveaway.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I wish you all a very prosperous and happy new Year.

Purple Pleats

Merry Christmas everyone; It's that time of the year again. I get so excited whenever I am at the mall during this Christmas season; all those beautiful christmas decor and the harmonious carols. I have been busy lately and I'm sure everyone else is too...:-).  I was at my kids' school today for a Christmas Carol program/Gingerbread house project and I put on an outfit with purple accents and it really got messy with all the frosting and stuff but it was so much fun building the ginger bread house and hanging out with the kids. Also, I'm always happy when I wear purple because it's one of my favorite colors. This outfit however is not what I wore today; this is the outfit I wore to my friend's anniversary dinner a couple of weekends ago. 'Because my blog is my personal style diary, I always make sure I document every outfit I wore to any special occasion including my everyday outfits sometimes. So, I'm glad I finally posted this.

This pleated purple skirt was made by my seamstress over a year ago. I had wanted a thicker fabric pleated skirt compared to all the lighter fabric pleats that were out there and I had no choice but to make a trip to the fabric store and I got excited when I saw all the rich colors of pleated durable fabric that were out there. I got about five different colors and had three of them made into long skirts and I still got two fabrics that I have not sent to the seamstress yet. I'm trying to think of other styles that could be made with pleated fabric; pants, dresses? 'suggestions anyone? Now, I'm glad I can get to wear this skirt even when it's freezing cold because the fabric is thick and all lined too with a different fabric for extra warmth.

What are your plans for Christmas day; Church, family dinners, movies? Do not forget that Jesus is the reason for the season. That is the reason why it is called Christmas; "Christ Mass." It is the celebration of the birth of our lord Jesus Christ. 'just incase we have forgotten...:-).
Okay, I got to run; so much stuff to do; gifts to wrap and food to prep.

Shoes In..

HERE

New in! these black suede booties are the recent addition to my shoe closet and you cannot believe I got them at quite a steal; $12.99!! including shipping and handling. Yeah, the discount was that good that I could not pass it up. I always get a bunch of coupons and offers from my favorite shoe store; Victorias Secret  and I just dump them in the trash most times because I know it's a marketing strategy to keep the shoe addict like me more addicted and make you keep coming back; talk about the enablers...:-). Well, like I was saying, I tossed a few coupons until I got a good one I could not pass up; $30 off an item including an extra $10 off reward coupon I had already saved.

In order to even get a better deal, I decided to look in the clearance section first like I always do in any store. **sshhh, that's my secret.** I stumbled on this pair of booties which I had been eyeing for a while. I wanted them in a different color though but they were sold out. I went ahead and combined all my coupons and got  them at this sweet price. **woot! woot!!**

Now, there is another package on its way from DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) and that's my last shoe/shoes purchase for the year **eyes rolling and smiling..** I'll show you those pairs when I get them. For now, I'll get back to my chores. I just took a little blogging/rest break.

GIVEAWAY UPDATE

Hi Friends, I hope you guys are not tired of seeing this image by now...:-). Well, I wanted to give an update on the fragrance tray and mist giveaway. The comments on the post fell short and we didn't get the twelfth day of Christmas winner (12th comment) or the surprise gift winner (25th comment). So, I'm going to go ahead and do one random selection from the published entries and I'll put up the winner on the 25th of December; Christmas day just in case some people forgot the date...:-). There will be no surprise gift winner anymore since the comments fell short. I will reserve the gift for the next giveaway.

Thanks so much everyone for entering. I'm grateful for your "readership" and your support. I'll make sure to host other giveaways in future that will include multiple winners at a time so that I can be able to express my thanks to a wider audience. Blogging is fun and it is even more fun with comments and other forms of interaction that go on. It's a busy time this holiday but I'm on vacation and I'll take time out to visit as much blogs as I can this holiday season.

Jacket: Wilsons leather: old
Boots: Report Signature
Bag: Jacqueline ferrar
Lace socks: Express: old
Animal prints scarf: Target: old

Hi Friends; I'm so excited writing this post for a number of reasons. First of all, my vacation starts today and I do not go back to work until five days into the new year...:-). Secondly, I get to relax and spend time with my family and then Christmas is just a few days away. I had a somewhat busy day today as I had to do some chores. I picked up the kids from school this afternoon and took them to the dentist for their cleaning/hygiene appointment then we went to Chuck E Cheese afterwards and had lunch and played games. The Chuck E Cheese in my neighborhood has very good food and we love to go there now and then. We had pepperoni pizza, fries and buffalo wings with delicious vanilla ice-cream for dessert; yum!...:-).

This simple outfit; an old Victorias secret sweater dress is what I wore. I love to wear sweater dresses in the winter and this particular one has been in heavy rotation and repeat mode over the years. You can see previous feature here, here, here. The weather was in the upper twenties and not too cold but I'm tired of all the cloudy days we have been having over here. We need some sun please..
Hey guys, guess who featured on the blog again today? Meet my peeps...

My oldest one Zoe (7)

My second one Zoza (5)

My little ones Ziva and Zion (3 and 11 months)

Zoza and Ziva (the ladies in the house...:-))

My little one turns one on Christmas day and I'm planning to have a party for him. I know I have said this so many times on the blog already...:-). I'm just so excited guys; don't blame me. God has really been good to me. I hope you are all planning to spend the Christmas with friends and family. Are you willing to share your plans for the Christmas with me? Check out the ongoing Giveaway on the blog; only a few hours left and Giveaway will close at midnight today.
