Candy Cane

Hi Friends, what do you do on a rainy, cloudy and gloomy day? You got it! You snuggle under the blankets with a hot cup of cocoa and a warm cozy blanket and you blog! Yes, you heard me right...:-). A laptop with a hot cup of cocoa on a rainy day is all you need to keep your blogging creativity going. Another alternative would be to wear a cute pair of rainboots and splash around in the rain puddle with the kids or thirdly; just do nothing.

Well, it was a rainy day in the twin cities today and I decided to go with "option one" for a rainy day. Yes, I decided to blog. This outfit is what I wore a few days ago when the weather was all nice and warm. I had thought of sharing it on the blog at the end of the week but changed my mind last minute. Besides, I have a couple other outfits I'm yet to post on the blog; I went for my friend's wedding anniversary dinner last weekend and I also went out with my friends a few days ago for some dinning and would like to share the outfit that I wore to these events sometime.

                                                                            Sweater: Old
                                                                            Bag: Express
                                                                            Pants and Scarf: Loft
                                                                            Shoes: Christian louboutins
                                                                            Trench coat: old
                                                                            Earings: gifted

The sweater I'm wearing in this post is what I wore here. I decided to use my colorful loft scarf to make a snood to conceal the turtle neck thereby creating a different look. The purse is a recent purchase from Express and I really like the blush color. I'm thinking of getting the black color too. The design does imitate channel and it is a pretty and cheap imitation. The combination of red and white in this outfit does remind me of "candy cane." What do you think? I'll be back again tomorrow for another outfit post. Have a wonderful week.

BLUE

This pic is funny; seems like my hands are way bigger than my feet...:-)

To say the truth, it's really funny how fashion keeps evolving and recycling (can I use that word?) these days. Years ago, you'll never catch me wearing a long coat as this. I actually got gifted a few by my mum and a couple of older friends some years back and I donated them all. I thought they were too heavy and looked old fashioned. If I had known they were going to be trending in 2014, I probably would have saved them all; it would have saved me a couple of bucks....:-). 'just kidding; I'm actually glad I donated them then because I didn't really want them at the time.

Well, this  deep blue long coat is another recent addition to my coat collection and I actually do love the color and the weight also...:-). I can withstand any cold in it but just when I thought I was going to roll out stylishly, the weather did a 90 degrees turn and we're suddenly enjoying somewhat warm temperatures in Minnesota in December! Can you believe it?...:-). Now, the temps is going to be in the thirties and forties all through next week. **eyes rolling.**

Anyway, yours sincerely is not deterred. I'll still wear my coat even if the temps go up to forties so long as I know I can see snow on the ground and the calendar says it is December...:-). I'm looking out for another coat in a pastel color this time that I can use in the spring. For this look, I decided to keep everything black and made the coat the statement piece.

Long Coat: Chadwicks
Pants and top: Loft
Bag: Jacqueline Ferrar
Jewelry: Gifted.

I hope everyone is doing great? Oh my God, I can't believe the year is really coming to a close so fast; seriously!! I thank God for everything though. There might be plans that were not achieved or projects that were not completed but my Bible tells me that I should give God thanks in everything and that is exactly what I'm doing.

I am yet to complete my christmas shopping and still have a long to-do list and there is also the birthday party I need to organize for my son who turns one this christmas but I'm not going to stress. I'll take one day at a time. I have a Giveaway going on on the blog right now and I'll like you to check it out.

I Thessalonians 5: 18

In everything, give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Grandma's Trench

Oversized coats are trending right now including capes and all kinds of colorful and stylish outerwear. Living in Minnesota, a state that is known for its long winter months, winter coats are essential and having multiple coats or a closet dedicated to winter accessories is no big deal. For me though, previously, I never really thought much of winter coats as statement pieces. I only bought coats in neutral colors; black, brown, grey, beige and occasional red. Right now, I have started adding some diversity to my winter coats collection and I recently added some trenches and coats in colorful hues. This oversized trench coat which I nicknamed "Grandma's trench" was a recent addition too and I really love the color. The temperature was in the thirties today and the weather felt very great so, it was the right weather for a trench coat.

The grey denim pants are a work in progress. I dug them out of the pile of clothes that I had put together for donation. They are pretty old and worn but since distressed jeans are trending right now, I decided to do some DIY on it and I'm not done yet. First of all, I loosened the hem as they had gone very short; then I took the nail file to them to create the distressed patches. I did not want to use bleach. I'll reserve that technique for another pair that I would be working on next. Have you ever done any DIY on denim that you would like to share? Do leave me some much needed tips in the comment section below.
