Moving Forward...

Hi Friends,  It's quite an interesting day today in the United States. The result of the election for the 45th president was quite a shocker. My opinion is that it is time for everyone to move forward and work together as a united Nation irrespective of our differences. I decided to share some pictures of my recent birthday celebration on the blog today to keep my mind off current events.

My very good girl friends planned for us all to get together for a ladies night to celebrate my birthday and it was beautiful. I wore my one shoulder glitter dress that I have had in the closet for years and I blogged about it a couple of years  ago here. I regard it as my special birthday dress because I got it from T. J maxx years ago for my second daughter's first year birthday. I reserved it for only special celebrations since then. I paired it with an almost choker necklace and burgundy strap heels. The dress is certainly a nod to the off shoulder and cold shoulder trend. 'funny how fashion trends keep recycling.

Moving forward, I give God Thanks for my life, my family, my wonderful friends and for this blog and for everyone who stops by here.

Rock the Vote in style! 2

The time has come for history to be made; election day in America. Just like every occasion or event, you have to dress for it. You have to dress to the polls in great style irrespective of who you are voting for. And if you decide to accessorize with election materials/accessories, you don't have to look dowdy and frumpy in them. Below are some outfit inspiration for looking chic on election day.

Navy blue color blazer

Hi  Friends, today is work wear Monday and my post today is on the "navy blue blazer" which I believe is a "must have" for the corporate working girl. Actually, one of the essential clothing piece a working lady needs to have in her closet is the "neutral color blazer" which can be grey, black or beige and when you start to add other colors of blazer to your closet, the navy blue color blazer would be a great choice. This navy color blazer can pair with lots of neutral pieces and for casual Fridays, you can pair it with a cute pair of denim, striped or gingham pants for work. If you are the type that does not like blazers or works in a casual attire work place, a cardigan or vest in a navy blue color would be a great addition too.

Mustard Color Blazer

Happy Friday Friends and happy month off November. I believe the Fall season is underway in most cities in America but my city, Minneapolis is still enjoying gorgeous summer-like weather. This is a very happy development for most people that live here in Minneapolis, Minnesota because it means we have fewer months of Winter to deal with. Our winter can be brutal Friends; so any beautiful warm weather we get, we enjoy it to the fullest. The Fall boots and trench coats are not out yet in full force over here in my neck of the woods.

This post features one of my most colorful blazers paired over a pair of gingham pants; a look I wore a few weeks ago. Mustard color screams Fall and it is a great color to wear at this time of the year. What do you think off the pairing and do you own any piece in this color? I'll love to know what other colors you think can be paired with this blazer; hunter green, burgundy...?

Rock the Vote in Style!

I am sure I am not mistaken when I say that almost everyone knows about the big event coming up in the US on Tuesday; yes, if you live in the United States and you know nothing about it, I'll educate you now. The United States General elections is taking place on Tuesday and some states that have the early voting option have started seeing people going to the Polls. The election is the inspiration for these outfit sets below.

A lot of Voting centers are experiencing long lines due to the large turn out for early voting and if you are going to be at any place where you'll be on the line for a while or in a waiting area where you can run into old friends or potential new ones, you have to make sure that you are dressed for the occasion. Put on a statement piece or wear an outfit that would either be a conversation starter or would leave an impression on the minds of those you encounter.

Yours sincerely, (moi) was at the polls a couple of days ago to cast my vote and I used the opportunity to wear one of my newly purchased velvet blazers, paired with a nice pair of denim and comfortable flats. I never encountered any old friends at the polls but  I did get into conversation with a few  people and I was very confident and comfortable the whole time. What is the long story behind these sets and this long talk? "Dressing well is a form of good manners." Comment if you agree...

Chloé leather lace up boots

Miu Miu block heel booties

Steve Madden high heel ankle booties

We cannot talk about Fall fashion this season without talking about the booties; it's like move over "over the knee boots!" In previous Fall seasons, over the knee boots dominated but this year, it is the season of the booties. Throw in trends like velvet and metallic and the booties is the winner this Fall. They are also easy to style. A pair of booties can go with any clothing item; dress, skirts, pants, shorts;...are you in for the booties this Fall?

Fall "Work Trend."

A very quick look at two of the essential trends you must get to be stylish for Work this fall; the pleated skirt and the velvet blazer. These two trends work well for any event or occasion if paired the right way. Although we know that there is no rule in Fashion (these days); it is always a good idea not to wear two or three trends at a time. Sometimes it works and other times it does not. I think the velvet blazer and pleated skirt trend work together nicely so long as the skirt is simple and not too shiny or metallic (which is another trend)

The best styling tip is to mix and match trendy pieces with the not so trendy ones. Therefore, if you have these two clothing items pictured above in your closet; the best way to dress them up for work and happy hour/girls night out, is to style them with other closet basics like the simple white tee and dark colored denim. Your thoughts?

Birthday Selfie

Velvet blazers HERE

Hi Friends; such a late post I know but I have been busy, busy, busy!...Lol. It's my birthday today and I decided to post a selfie instead of my usual work "wear Monday" post. I am wearing a velvet blazer which is a huge trend right now and I accessorized my blazer with a sticker; "I voted." So, one of the fun things I did on my birthday was to go cast a ballot in a general election; ha! ha!!

I thank God for the wonderful gifts he has bestowed on me and this blog is one of them and I thank God for you too for stopping by here. Thanks a lot for your support and your thoughts and comments.

Shoe Lovin' - Camo Sandals

   Go Jane Camo Sandals

It's time for another shoe gist on here and today's find is this pair of Camo sandals from Go Jane. I fell in love with it the first time I saw them online and since they were pretty affordable, I decided to give them a shot. I was not too familiar with the brand at the time and could not say much for the quality of the shoes so, I had a plan to return the shoes if the quality was not great.  Guess what! they are as beautiful as they look and the quality is amazing. My only issue with them is that; I wish the color was a little darker. If you are not a fan of Camo prints, this sandals does come in solid colors too. Check out the links below if you like Fashion on a budget.
