The Blue Tribal..

Hi Friends, I hope the new week and the month of August is going great so far. My mini break from blogging is over and I'm back….:-). It's all about custom made these days. I wore this blue tribal dress yesterday and I have had this dress for so long that I was surprised that I didn't showcase it on the blog before now. I made it years ago when the high-low dress was really on trend. I bought the fabric from a fabric store on line and got the appliqués from one of the local stores, drew a sketch and my seamstress brought it to life. The good thing about custom made clothes is that they are original and unique. I decided to go without jewelry because I thought the dress had enough bling on it already with the stone appliqués.

The last time I wore this same dress before I wore it yesterday, was in January on the day of my baby dedication; just days after my baby boy was born. I chose the dress because I wanted to wear something blue and it was the first item that jumped on my mind when I got in my closet. I remember I had done a collage on a high-low dress on Polyvore and I blogged about it here showing how I would style this dress. This charcoal canvas pointed toe shoe is a recent addition and I wore the coral color here.

Dress: Custom made
Purse: T.J Maxx
Shoes: Victoriassecret

The picture below is one of the pics that was taken on the day of the baby dedication in church and that is my friend Naya holding my newborn son Zion. Naya is one stylish and beautiful lady and I loved her dress too. It was also custom made and she had on this cute teal jacket and a pair of fabulous sparkly heels. I hope I'll be able to showcase Naya on the blog again sometime.

It's amazing how time flies. It's hard to believe that it's almost eight months that I had my baby. The only evidence is that I'm still chubby but I'm not in a hurry to get on the treadmill just yet because I'm still nursing. Okay, let me not bore you with all the baby gist…:-). Does anyone like custom made clothes like I do? It's good to channel your inner creativity sometimes.

'Wishing you all a great week. Take charge of the week and remember that "with God, all things are possible."

Flora Fauna Designs

Hi friends, for my recent love of everything custom, I want to share with you this UK based Ghanian designer called Flora Fauna and you can find her here. I stumbled on her website last summer and spent some time perusing her beautiful collections. The lace dress above was the one I fell in love with the first time I saw her collections and it is what I imitated in the custom made dress I wore in my last blog post. Most of her  clothes are made with tribal prints fabric and very beautiful die-cut lace fabric. Below are some of my favorite designs from her Sika summer collections.

Below is my version or copy of the  black lace dress :-). People say imitation is a subtle form of complement or flattery…:-). Now, I have to go and get my church outfit for tomorrow ready. I'm not quite sure what I would wear yet but I'm leaning towards a dress. Hey, its summer!

My Lace Dress..

blurry pic…excuse me…:-)

Hi Everyone, so it seems like it's been a while. I took some time off the blog to party!!!…:-). I have been having a great summer so far and I have been having super busy weekends. Last Saturday, one of my friends organized a Mickey-mouse themed birthday party for her one year old son and I was super excited when she involved me in the party planning activities. We spent time putting together fun projects and everything came out well on the day of the party. I didn't take a lot of pics but would put up the few ones I have later. Then my other friend organized a 70th birthday celebration for her mum. Her colors for the party were green, purple and gold. She also did a sort of uniform dressing where guests have the option of using the celebration fabric to make whatever kind of outfit they want. This uniform dressing is referred to as "Asoebi" in Africa. Her choice of fabric was green lace.

Well, my lace dress in this post was not made with my friend's green lace fabric. Mine was made from an old lace fabric which I've had in the house for ages. So, let's just say it's vintage…:-). Excuse my blurry pics; my son took the pics with his iPad and somehow I just couldn't edit them better than this. I might not love these pictures but I love my lace dress and I'm glad I have a full lace dress now. I have always wanted one since I saw these beautiful ones made by Ghanian designer here. Now, I only wish I could sew or knit or do any creative thing like that so, I can roll out those beautiful sketches….okay, okay, I have said this a lot of times already…:-). Now, I just have to go and lose the extra pounds I packed on from partying. See you soon. **Kisses**

Embellished Romper

Hi everyone, so this is what I wore to the graduation party on saturday; an embellished tribal prints romper. I had the fabric for years including the neck appliqué and I just didn't know what to make with it until rompers and jumpsuits came back on the scene this summer and I was like bam!!…:-). You know I used to have this habit of going to the fabric store on weekends in the summer to purchase fabrics until I ended up with yards and yards of fabric that have not been made into anything. I'm still hoping I'll learn how to sew someday then I can whip out all the fancy sketches in my head…:-).

Well, my seamstress made this romper and the only thing that differentiates it from most rompers I have seen so far is the neck piece. I ended up not using any necklace; just put on a pair of ear-rings and my purple Jessica Simpson cut out collie pumps. The color for the party was purple so somehow everything fell into place. I took these pictures at the end of the evening with my iPad when I was all tired and just wanted to document the event/picture on the blog anyway. The pictures did not do the romper much justice but I did get a couple of complements.

Little bit of Color

Hi Lovelies, so it looks like its been a while. I hope everyone is doing great. I had a very busy weekend and another busy one ahead of me. One of my friends had her graduation party on Saturday and I was very much involved with the planning all the way. This was how I stepped out on Saturday on my way to the venue to help with the decor. I wanted to be comfortable and a little stylish at the same time. For comfort, it was all about the tank top and white shirt and for style, the cap toe flats was a huge dose of color. I know cap toe shoes are out of style somewhat but who cares! **rolling my eyes**….:-)

I ended up wearing a custom made romper to the graduation party but I was not able to take good pics and  I will upload one or two pictures later that I took with my phone. Also, I have two birthday parties to attend this upcoming weekend and though I'm still aching from all the planning activity of last weekend, I'm looking forward to the next one. Hey, it's summer and we are almost half way through so, it's time to enjoy the nice weather.

I just wanted to say a quick hi and I would certainly stop by at all your blogs when my schedule stabilizes. A big thank-you to all the friends who stopped by to comment and say hi on my last post. I was surprised to find out that some comments ended up in my spam folder and I have no idea how that happened. I hope I did not leave out any comment at the end of the day. Thanks so much guys and see you soon on your blogs. **Kisses**

Hi Friends, so have you heard the news? If you live in America or North America, you might have heard of the impending summer chill; Polar Vortex or whatever name it is being called by the meteorologists? Can you imagine that? Cold snap in the middle of summer when we are supposed to be having 90 degrees weather and swimming in the pools and beaches or sipping on cold lemonades under  sun umbrellas? Well, it might not be that bad for those that live in the warm southern states. For those of us that live in the arctic region, **clears throat** it is time to go and get out the light spring jackets again. The Meteorologists predict it will only last for a few days but let's wait and see. It seems like I ordered my trench coat just in time after all; **smiling face**

These are some of the trenchy looks I put together on polyvore with a hint of animal prints. I do not own any of these expensive designer items in these collages but I own a trench coat and it might just come in handy the next couple of days.

How is the week going for everyone? I hope great. I have a couple of events to attend in the next few days and I am still thinking of what and what is coming out of the closet. Have you been taking a look at my scripture/inspiration gadget at the top right hand corner of my blog? A scripture a day is real medicine for the soul and takes all the stress of life away.
