Busy

It was a breezy, sunny day last week and there was a little chill in the air. It was just the right temperature for taking a walk or walking a dog only if I owned one...:) I stared through the window at the beautiful colors of fall displayed in the trees and the shrubs and I thought "how busy, yet beautiful." There were greens, browns, orange, wine; each color competing to be the finest and together all turning out to make this beautiful fall scenery. I took a cue and layered myself in a busy outfit; a black and white assemble accessorized with a colorful scarf I recently got from Wal-Mart. Over my white graphic tee, I threw on a grid jacket; a mixture of trends. It was indeed a busy outfit but it put a smile on my face.

Fashion aside; at this time of the year, everyone is so busy caught in the festivities and holidays and shopping that there is hardly any time spent on the reflection of what is most important. Halloween just ended and the stores are already stocking up for thanksgiving and black Friday sales, Then Christmas and New-year are just around the corner. The Christmas list is getting longer and longer and the check-out lines at the stores are getting a little crazy as each day comes.

I am taking some time to reflect and slowing things down a bit. For me, this season is not just all about getting the best deals or making that perfect dinner or planning the perfect party. It's about appreciation for God, life, family and friends and taking some time out of  my busy schedule to tell someone how much they are loved and appreciated.

Black and White-Five: Casual Look

White top and pants: T. J. Maxx
Bag: Random Purchase
Gingham heels: Colin Stuart via Victoriassecret

I wore a lot of black outfits this past summer and this was one of my casual looks earlier in the season. It was a very simple look and the gingham heels and yellow bag was added to add some interest. The blouse which I picked up from T. J. Maxx years ago has some embroidery at the neckline which gives it a bohemian look. I paired it with my old black ankle pants.

Laying in bed presently watching episodes of my favorite show on TLC "Four Houses." It's a twist on the TLC show "Four Weddings" that showcases four contestants and their houses and at the end of the show, the contestant that has the house with the most originality and livability/design wins. I love interior decoration and I'm always curious to see how people showcase their creativity in their homes.

Right now, I can hear loud gospel music drifting from downstairs; Fred Hammond to be precise. My hubby loves Fred Hammond's gospel music a lot. I can tell everyone in the house is awake now. I got to go fix the family some breakfast. I'm thinking of some pancakes and scrambled eggs or probably some bean balls; a local dish from Nigeria made from beans flour and some hot oatmeal. See you later and thanks a lot for visiting.

PS: In all things in life, always give God thanks for everything. An attitude of gratitude is the best therapy for handling life's problems.
