DIY Faux Fur Snood

I would say again "It is freeezzzzing" over here in Minneapolis and along with the single digit temperatures, the wind chill is predicted to be in the negative teens tomorrow and such low temps wind chill makes it even colder as it already is. Our high temp for today was just 0 degree fahrenheit and I was bundled up and layered like an onion as I headed out the door this morning.

As I lay down to relax after my dinner, I figured it might be a good day to do a blog post on a recent DIY snood that I made for my christmas outfit. I took pictures as I worked on my fabric and saved them for this post. It's my first DIY blog post or pictorial so pardon me if I am not so exact with measurements and descriptions.

                                                                                                      DIY SNOOD

1. I got half a yard of black color faux fur fabric from the fabric store (about $49.99 a yard at my local fabric store) and I just spread it out on a table.
2. I used a soft brush lightly on it in a straight direction to get rid of the excess fibre and other FM (foreign material) from the edges of the fabric.

3. I flipped the fabric over and examined it properly to make sure there were no holes or snags of any sort then I got my needle and thread ready.

 4. I flipped one edge of the fabric over to the middle of the fabric.

5. I continued to fold that edge of fabric till I had it half way to the middle straight across to the end of the fabric.

6. I flipped the other half of the fabric over to the middle too and used a needle and thread to sew the two ends together in a straight line from one end of the fabric to the other.

7. This is what the fabric would look like after sewing it straight across; you can then join and sew the two ends together.

8. This is the final product; it should be loose enough to go over your head and snug enough to give a good fit around your neck. So, just make adjustments based on your fabric and head/shoulder measurements. I made mine based on my fabric and did not use head/shoulder measurements. Also, I used the entire half yard of fabric for it and only took of about three inches when it was too loose then I just sewed the ends together again. If you are in the arctic region and dealing with all the cold and snow this winter, please,  stay warm, safe  and fabulous.

The Bucket bag; the new "It" bag is so chic and versatile. It can go from day to evening easily and has really taken the cross body bag to a whole new level. Bucket bags have been around for quite some time though but they would make bigger statement this spring and summer. There is also a nice selection across the board in terms of prices as a lot of designers and stores roll out their designs. This is one trend I would definitely like to indulge in.

The day after the V-Day

Happy Sunday Friends; I hope you had a blast yesterday and that the weekend is going great. I just wanted to share the OOTD for the day after Valentine. You know, the love continues. Most of us were all glammed up and cute yesterday and it won't be a good idea to just turn around today and be a "whoosh" whatever that means...:-). So, in order to keep the glamour going for this special sunday, I decided to wear something very feminine and soft and simple and this floral hem faux wrap maxi skirt was my first choice. I got it from Macys on sale a while back.

The black cowl neck top was a great alternative to a regular turtle neck or as opposed to just using a scarf. Boy! it is cold!! It is only 7 degrees in the twin cities today and it's been cloudy all day. In fact, we are not going to see any sun until wednesday the weather report says. So, it was very essential to dress in layers today but I had to find a way to be layered up and still be glam.

Cowl neck sweater and skirt: Macys
Purse: Vintage Relic
Booties: Victoriassecret
Tights: Express

Pardon my chipped nails; I did a quick manicure this morning but it wasn't that great...:-).

Uuhhh, I had to adjust my purse straps though my son was saying "Mum, hurry up!" I just had to include this picture and his statement because I know he would be reading this blog someday...:-). Okay, here goes my quick post. We have a birthday party to attend this evening and I will let you know how it goes. I intend to wear something very simple and fun.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8New International Version (NIV)

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

L.O.V.E

Happy Val's day friends!!! I was MIA from the blog for a little while but I am back and ready to rolllllll!!!!! What a day to stage a comeback than this lovely holiday for love called Valentine's day! I am not going to go into the blah-blah-blah of how I do not celebrate valentine 's day and how that the holiday is commercialized but I want to talk about this lovely graphic sweater I scored from the plus size department at Forever 21.

A very massive Forever 21 store just opened recently in my neighborhood and that means a lot of good things...:-). For one, "Forever 21" always has a good stock of graphic tees and you can always put your passion or mouth on your clothing based on your mood...:-).

                                                                   Sweater: Forever 21+
                                                                   Black Cords: Loft
                                                                   Pink Pumps: DSW
                                                                   Earings: Gifted.

Some people say red is the best color to wear on this holiday and others say the LBD is the best; it does not matter what color you wear so long as you look cool. Some people want to dine at a fancy restaurant and some want to go to the movies while some others like me want to stay home and just chill in oversized sweaters. Whatever you do, the only thing that matters is LOVE!

Happy February

Happy February Friends; I'm wishing you all, all of God's blessings in this new month. It's kind of cool whenever a new month starts in the weekend when everyone is home resting or worshipping in church. At least, we all get to pause and rest a bit before going back to work to start the workload for the new month. And today is super bowl sunday!!

Do you see some of my Christmas lights in the background in my pics?...Lol. The candy canes were frozen to the ground and we could not pull them out. Now, the snow is starting to melt somewhat but the forecast says we might have some snow this week so these lights would likely photobomb my pictures for a few more weeks.

In this post, I'm wearing one of the latest addition to my statement coat collection. I got this gingham long coat at the consignment store and I was so excited that it was in my size; a little large but it is okay. It is very warm and comfy and I would say it is a classic coat because gingham prints coats of this quality, length and cut are so hard to find these days and when you find them, they are usually very expensive.

I decided to go with a black and white outfit to bring out the quality of the coat and I wore my pigalles for a pop of color. I just realized recently that I haven't been wearing them that much and was also surprised to find so many pairs of shoes in my closet that I have not worn in a long time; not good at all..:-). However, I'm sure I am not the only lady that is guilty of this; I'm sure of that!

Top: Express (old)
Quilted Purse: Express (here)
Pants: LOFT
Coat: Consignment Store: Splurge here and here.
Shoes: Christian Louboutin Pigalle Plato Similar
Necklace: Walmart

So, I hope everyone is doing great? The new year has started rolling again but I don't care so much...:-). I will take each day as it comes while I remain focused on my goals and I would continue to count and dwell on my blessings. My attitude for the new year is to ignore and stay away from all sorts of negative things and people. I will only fill my heart with positive energy and I would continue to work towards my goal of giving back. We all have to make our little contribution one way or the other in making this world a better place.
